The best place to get a safety check! On a Thursday After work i went straight here after hearing that they do safety checks until 4pm. No appointment was made. I walked in at 3:40 and was gone at 3:55 with my brand new safety check. The lady at the front is one of the nicest ladies and is very helpful. Will be back every year for my safety check. I also heard that they do fast oil changes. This place is awesome. ............. a year later. Still the same great customer service and quick work by the mechanics. Out of all the businesses I visited this weekend, I gotta say this place left a great lasting impression with me. I've been to the same 2 places to change my oil ( Goodyear Waipio & the car dealership where I bought my car from) Overpriced and the service was crap. Half the time I wasn't really sure they actually did the oil change or even bothered to look if anything else in my car needed to be replaced. I work 7 days so at the end of the day it was more about convenience than anything else. I'm really happy I gave this place a shot. I made an appt. online and less than an hour later someone called to confirm. The day of, I got a little confused. There's 2 work bays you can go to, since I has a smaller car, I was instructed to take it to the one up on the hill, they check you in there and you pay there afterwards. I thought the mechanic had great communication skills and recommendations. He went over the different oils with me even though I normally just request Synthetic. Then called a little later to recommend I replace some filters (which coming to think of it, I haven't replaced since i bough the car back in 2013) Something that wasn't in my though process however if any of the other halfass repair shops told me.. I woulda did it sooner. They even went out of their way to vacuum my floors!! I'm ecstatic about that bc my car was filthy inside and i appreciate their initiative and efforts to go the extra mile. Needed a quick state inspection for my car. I called the staff was very friendly and helpful. When I arrived I checked how long the job would take which was reasonable for being last minute about 40 mins. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Once the work was completed I paid and was out the door and back on the road in less than 40 mins. Definitely will be going back in the future. read more

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, I took my car to Midas, located on 94-709 Farrington Hwy Waipahu, HI 96797 for an oil change. When I got there, I left my car unlocked. I went to the front desk to check in and fill out the paperwork. I gave my keys to the receptionist. When the mechanics were ready to service my car, he told me that he could not unlock the car(remember...I said I did not lock my car). I went to the car to see if it would unlock. It did not. I pushed on the unlock button on my car remote, it did not unlock or give any response back. I didn't want to jump to conclusions so I went to Auto-Zone and purchased a new car remote battery. I installed the battery, but it still did not work. I talked to the manager of this Midas location and told him my remote was working just fine this morning when I drove the car. When I gave physical control of the remote to Midas, it came back inoperable. My conclusion is some must have dropped it and damaged. It is going to cost me $534.00 to replace the remote and have it reprogrammed. On Monday, July 24, 2024, I talked to Midas General Manager of Hawaii, Tim Hall in order to resolve the matter and pay for the replacement and reprogramming of the remote. He refused to pay for it and was in fact very rude about it. Not even an apology. So now I am locked out of my car, I had to order a new remote, my work equipment is also locked in the car, my family and I are now down to one car until the new remote arrives later this week. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and a complaint with Midas Corporate. read more

This is my review on car inspections, repair, and customer service. Contacted them on a Monday morning (October 31, 2016 - if Midas wants to know who helped me that morning) asking about getting a safety check and was notified that they were free and would service me right away. I went in and as promised I was in and out within 15 minutes from giving my car over to them. It might have been even less. Why I am writing this review is not just about how quick they were but rather the service provided. The gentleman at the front was knowledgable, answered all of my questions and was very thorough will everything that he did. He had a very calm demeanor and was even humorous at times hat made the interaction a great experience. However, it wasn't just with me. While I sat waiting he consistently welcomed new customers or at least addressed them briefly while he was serving other customers (multitasking at its finest). Even with a customer that had a million questions and who was acting a little impatient, he was very poised answered their questions, made a call to double check on a part that they needed, updated them on time frame, and kept them at ease. Others that came in for other services seemed to be dealt with quickly and they were able to take on their requests and it didn't seem like they would have to wait long. Their oil service also seemed very efficient and cars were never waiting long. If you need a safety check during the weekday this is your place. Friendly and quick! Not the best location if you are not from Waipahu, but they get the job done fast and quick. You could always walk across the street for food and grocery shopping. Even though they didn't have the tool needed to change my oil (new model) they offered advice and added that they will see if they can order the tool. I was grateful because they wanted to help. My tire popped on my way home. I changed it to a spare tire & went on my way to Midas since the last few times I was there for a oil change & safety check - the wait time was half an hour or less. Unfortunately, not this time. I literally was there for a total of 3.5 hours with my for kids. 2.5 hours was waiting for my car to be seen. The last hr was reviewing my tires, quoting & mounting it on. I was price quoted $299 (regular price & lowest price right now per mechanic) per tire so unfortunately, I had to choose to only change the two front tires. Even with the promo of buy 3 tires, get 1 free promo...it would've been a thousand dollars which is unbelievable for a mom with four young kids. But the gentlemen running the front desk had amazing customer service so that was great! Wait area is tight & tiny with 8 chairs or so with an unnecessary coffee table filled with magazines. It would've been better if they added extras chairs in replace of the coffee table. But there is two vending machines, television & AC. Oh & there is also two benches right outside the doors for extra seating. I wish they add extra seating to the outside. Bc there's a lot of ppl standing outside on the side. read more

Went here twice in two days to get safety inspections on both of my vehicles. I was definitely dreading this chore, anticipating long lines, slow service and the same hassles everyone always complains of. I pulled into a Goodyear shop across the street and waited for 5 minutes while one employee completely ignored me and read a magazine, the other spoke on the phone, and several others wandered in and it and deliberately avoided eye contact before walking out in frustration. I pulled into Midas and was immediately greeted. The employee at the desk was friendly and helpful, then grabbed my keys to immediately pull my vehicle in the bay. I explained that my kids were watching their movie in the back of the van and that I needed to grab them and he said, "No need, they can just hang out in the back and keep watching while I do the inspection, it will only take a minute." In exactly 16 minutes after I had pulled into the parking lot, I was pulling out of the lot with a shiny new sticker on my car, my kids still happily watching the Lego movie in the back. On my second trip in, I had low expectations--I figured I had lucked into a slow moment the day before and expected to wait. However, I had a repeat of the same friendly, quick and professional service and once again, I was on my way with a new sticker in less than 20 minutes. First time I came here was sometime last year because I had a nail in my tire. Today I came in not knowing exactly why my tire pressure was low since I had put in air just a few weeks ago. So I assumed I got something stuck in one of my tires again. Yep, they found a screw. My luck isn't that great. Lol. They seemed pretty busy when I walked in, but attended to my car pretty quickly! And can I just agree with everyone else, their customer service is AWESOME!!!Super friendly! Especially since I'm 20 yrs old, I don't really know anything about cars. Great Service. I needed work done. I wanted it done now. These guys were close enough to me to give them a try. Wow, am I happy. First, they open at 7am. This lets me get in there first thing, while also getting to work on time. I got there early so that I would be first in line. I was first, but they opened before 7am. They were there, there was work, they got to it! Thank you much! I wanted something simple done, but for my '69 Chevy. They checked, and could do it. Once they got a good look at it, they discovered that it was going to take a lot more then they thought to get the job done. They came out and told me that it was going to take twice as long, and cost $40 more then their listed price. Once I gave them the go ahead, these guys dove into their work and got everything done with a smile. Even though there were a ton of people there, every single customer got prompt, personal, attention. TIP: It is PACKED first thing Monday morning. I went here for my inspection. They were super fast, I didn't have an appointment, and the receptionist was extremely nice and we had fun chatting. They have a soda machine and are open Saturdays. I did not get what I paid for! I paid for an oil change. It included a tire rotation which I did not receive and I wanted the tire pressure checked and set to 35 lbs. I did not get this either. I got an excuse that they can't mix costco nitrogen with air. Which is totally untrue. read more

I have to give this place only 4 stars for now (only because I haven't been there myself). Anyway, my boyfriend took my car in to Midas in Waipahu and talked about what a great service they provided. He really wanted me to give them 5 stars, but that wouldn't be fair since I haven't taken my car in personally. What was supposed to be an oil check, ended up being them checking my whole car. They noticed that I had sludge in my engine, my headlight was out, my right blinker was out, and that I had a nail in my right tire. They also vacuumed and cleaned my car after they inspected my car. Most places wouldn't do a free car check and I'm glad they let my boyfriend know about my car's issues so we can get them addressed quickly. Can't wait for the next visit so I can really see for myself what great service they provide. :) read more

First time there on 4/29/16. Make an appointment as much as possible. The wait for walk-ins can be very long, especially if you do it on a Friday morning. Today the waiting room was full, and people were standing up because there were no seats. Godo the mechanic (and mgr or owner) ran a diagnostic on the money pit that is my car...and did it free of charge since the diagnosis was so bad...so that was kind of him. I recommend them, but only giving 3 stars because the waiting room is cramped and wait can be a bit long. I think some chairs outside might be a good idea. read more

Highly recommend Midas Waipahu. Since my go to Safety-check oil changing chain of locations stopped doing Safety checks, it has been difficult finding a place to take my cars to. Received a $4 Safety-check discount coupon for Midas in the mail and thought I'd give Midas a try. (I've been to other Midas locations and had to wait quite a bit so a bit skeptical). Called to make an appointment on a Monday morning in the last week of the year; therefore hoping an appointment sometime before 12/31/20. To my astonishment, phone answered after 3 rings by Robert (?) and offered a variety of times for the same day. Upon arrival at 7:25, greeted warmly by Robert and quickly processed the paper work, offered me email coupons and a hot cup of coffee. Safety-check was done and back on the road by 7:35. They also recommend if anything else needs to be done on your vehicle, unlike the Tony Autoplex where they say you need to do those recommendations with your oil change to have your car working properly. This review is mostly for the online service, my time is limited. I made an appointment online and they called me to confirm the appointment and said they would help me out. The morning of the appointment (7-9 am, arrived just after 7am) I go in and they said they don't do it. I'm just kind of mad that they told me to come in and tell me no. What's the point of telling me to come in and then telling me no? I would love for them to say no upfront. I don't plan on coming here again nor would I support any Midas affiliated company, even though they seem like nice people. Again this review is not for the service because I got no service. When I called before going there just to confirmed, I was told that they were all booked for the day. What's the sense of having on line reservations if someone is not checking it. Aunty at the front desk is so awesome and welcoming not to mention ON IT. She's multitasking like crazy and still keeping the aloha. The mechanic doing my safety was super cool even when I kinda held him back when I had the wrong insurance card. He was like "ah no worry just let me know when you get um." After that I inquired about an oil change they were like "we can do it now no problem, have a seat". Amazing and speedy service founded on nurturing their client relationships and common sense. They continually exceed my expectation to deliver any service I came in for. Example: I came in for an unscheduled safety check which usually isn't a problem, typically taking 15 minutes. Unfortunately, it was a day when an entire fleet of vehicles was scheduled for safety checks/maintenance. I anticipated it to be either a 2-hr wait or "come back another day" response. However, they remembered who I was and thought it be best (for their operation and for my satisfaction) to sacrifice one technician for 15 minutes instead of me going somewhere else forever. I am new to the island and purchased a vehicle with expired tags from a private owner, not realizing that they were expired. COVID has complicated everything we do and made things take longer then we are used to. With that said, I contacted this Midas because I heard a Safety Inspection is needed to get up to date tags. They were so informative and their staff was so friendly it was refreshing during this strange COVID time.
