Charge extra on things you don't need, went to other mechanic and have the repair requirements weren't needed.

I am very disappointed with this shop. This shop told me I needed a new radiator so I said ok. As I'm sitting in the shop waiting for them to finish with my Dodge Durango, I realize I want to smoke since I've been there for so long. So I ask the guy at the desk if I could go inside my car to get something, he said sure just be careful. I went to my car and my ash tray (something the I NEVER REMOVE)was gone/missing/not there. So I assumed 1st that maybe someone threw it in the trash (even though it didn't belong to anyone but ME) I asked everyone who worked on or moved my car, if they'd seen it. Mind you I had a half of dutch in my ashtray and yes there was medical marijuana rolled in it. Everyone said no they didn't see anything like that. I emailed corporate and the result was receiving a new pricy ashtray with a coupon for a free oil change that never expires. I told the manager to run the camera's back and find out who took my belongings. The fact that all employees kept saying they never seen it, pisses me off because my ashtray NEVER LEAVES MY CAR periodt. Also to note, the manager (light skinned with tattoos drives a boomed out Jeep, only know this because he pointed to it to show me what he drives after talking about my engine) kept going on and on about how my engine was a very very good engine (V8 5.7 liter HEMI to be exact) Service date was 7/1/24, had to go back the very next day after driving home with smoke coming from my engine and it looked like it was pouring down underneath of my car. Had to get it towed to the Midas the very next day. When I get there the gut that worked on it the day before says the hose he put on was too long and came off somehow. Screws were also missing. I'm assuming from when he took apart the grill to replace the radiator. My car was stolen on 7/22/24 at night. WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. The entire staff was new except for the older white guy and the slim guy with dreadlocks. All the other people were new. I've been to this Midas for over 10 years and this is the 1st time some shit like this happened. They had my key phobe 2 days in a row. I truly believe that someone in that shop set it up for my car to be stolen. I have video surveillance and I'm not letting this go. I am very hurt. My childs car seat along with other valuable items was in my truck. I had an airtag in it as well and it seems the thieves found it and threw it out. You should do a more intensive screening for your employees. read more

I used to be a customer here years ago back when they used to have an honest mechanic in charge. I was told that I needed a bunch of repairs done and that I should get the financing to pay for the repairs. I agreed because right around this time my car was presenting a problem pretty much every pay day. By the time I signed for the financing to cover a list of repairs that was supposed to get done I learned that the honest mechanic was gone and replaced by this other dude who received the whole financing amount but only did a couple of repairs from the list. I felt played. So I never returned to do business there. read more

When my regular mechanic said my 2000 Neon had a transmission leak back in May 2022, I took my car to Midas in Upper Darby primarily due to its close proximity to my home. I took my car in around 9AM. Midas told me I had a transmission pan leak, needed a radiator belt, serpentine belt, transmission flush for a total of approximately $700. The mechanic started working on my car around 10:00 AM. I watched as the mechanic sprayed sealant on the transmission pan for about 20 minutes and then stopped for about an hour and I couldn't figure out why. I asked the man at the front desk who said they were waiting for part. At approximately 11:30AM the part arrived and the mechanic kept looking at it and putting it down. I went to the front desk around 12:00 PM and asked how much longer it was going to take. They ordered the wrong part and were ordering the correct one now. I told them to just fix the leaking pan and replace the radiator belt. I paid $353.14 for the repair. After my 2023 inspection my regular mechanic said I had a transmission pan leak! I contacted Midas, said I was there back in 2022 for the same thing and was told by the man answering the phone they don't work on transmissions! I complained to corporate headquarters whereupon a case was created. Kenny, the manager of the Upper Darby Midas, contacted me and said he would have his master mechanic look over my car to see what was wrong. I made and then cancelled the appointment and took my car to a shop specializing in transmission repair. They found there was no transmission pan leak. It was the coolant lines that were leaking and gasket needed replacement. Midas might be ok for an oil change or to change a tire. but anything major I would not recommend Midas. read more

If you want to ruin your car , take it to Midas located in upper derby. My car had only minor tire problems, so we took it there . They fixed it and charged 700$ guess what? New problems started to appear. The tire that they fixed, was leaking air as well. So for the 2nd time we took it there. Guess what now ? They are saying my brand new battery is dead and the car doesn't start! And also in order to fixed that I need to spend another 1000$ dollars! I am pretty sure that they left the car lights on the whole night to drain the battery. Hear me out, save your self a trip , take your car anywhere but here . read more

Went into Midas and got an oil change they took great care of my car and customer service was absolutely wonderful.

Went in for a $29.99 oil change and free tire rotation. I was charged regular price and was told labor is extra to actually perform the oil change. They said my tires looked fine so they did not do the tire rotation. The tech took his lunch in the middle of my oil change, so I waited for almost 2 hours. read more

I have had a slow leak on one of my tires and have had to air it up all the time. I finally got some time off and took my tire to Midas. I ask them to remove the tire, reseal the rim and remount the tire. I dropped it off at 3, it was ready for pickup before they closed. The front desk employee was polite and understood my request. This place is head and shoulders terrible compared to what it use to be 2yrs ago i been bring my cars here for over 10yrs and they have always done good work. Now i was willing to pay 7,000 to put my new engine in and these guys gave me the run around and refuse to let me speak to the manager. And flat out refused to do any real work on my car. I had to keep telling the manager to do the work and he said the owner told him not to do it basically as a excuse cause they were backed up and were lazy never ever will they have my service again read more

I went there to replace my reservoir assembly on my minivan. The service technician gave me an estimate of $549. He said that he discovered several holes on the top section of the muffler and along the pipes. When I asked to see it for myself, I only found no additional holes in addition to what I showed them initially. The muffler was rusty (it's an 03). Nonetheless I took my car to a competitive company in West Philadelphia and paid $223.48 and replaced both the muffler and the reservoir. There's no reason to charge someone $352.98 for parts then $144.83 in labor. When I went online to price check and discover that a muffler only cost $30-40 and the reservoir was $79. I knew then that I would not do any business with this establishment. read more

I came to this location because my ac was blowing out lukewarm air. After having to sit in a chair without any service for 2 hours the idiot attendee finally pulled my car in because I asked him "how long will this take I can't sit here all day". He then apologized and brought my car in and after looking at my car for approximately 58 seconds he concluded that it was all basically fucked because my anti freeze under my radiator cap was brown. He said I'd have to replace the whole system and buy new hoses motor pieces and that "the labor for the radiator alone is going to cost 400$." I ended up looking up the problem and it was just a simple coolant flush for 100$. This place is fucked and my car would be too if I listened to them. read more

Stay away from this place!!! I took my car in for its annual inspection. I had a coupon which allowed me to get state and emission inspection for 39.99. After the inspection the manager approached me with two separate invoices. The first bill said I needed 2 rear wheel cylinders and brake fluid. The bill for parts and labor was almost $600.00 I was told this amount would have to be paid in order to pass the safety inspection. The second bill was for brake shoes, brake drum and hardware parts. That bill totaled 500.00 for parts and labor. I was told by the manager that these parts were not urgent and could wait. Both bills totaled over $1000.00. I refused service and went to a reputable mechanic in my area the same day. He did the labor of replacing 2 rear cylinders, rear brake shoes and adding brake fluid for a total price of $243.00. You can imagine how shocked I was to think this place was going to rip me off by an additional $800.00. Shame on you!!! Please remember to always get a second opinion if the price of repairs sounds too high. read more

Edit/Update- *****This is an update to my my original post from 5 years ago. This establishment now seems to be under new management and is making every effort to improve their customer service and reputation. Based on them reaching out to me I would give them a try again if I was still living in the area.***** If I could give Zero stars I would. In short Do Not Take your car here. The customer service and quality of work is horrible. I went there to get my state inspection done and to have a tire that was leaking looked at. They told me I needed my rotors changed and the tire was leaking from the Tire Pressure Monitor System sensor so they put a regular valve on because they had no Tire Pressure Monitor System sensors in stock, so I ordered one to be installed later in the week. 4 days later my tire was completely flat and when the tire was taken of to be replaced with a spare one of the screws in the rotor came right out, they didn't secure it properly. I took the car back here the next day and they said there was a gap between the rim and the tire that's why it went flat, why wasn't this done right the first time! I asked about the order of my Tire Pressure Monitor System but no manager was there so the person working the front desk couldn't tell me if the Tire Pressure Monitor System was ordered. I called back later in the day, no one called as promised, only to be told that the owner was on vacation and had the business credit card with him so no orders could be placed. I explained I placed the ordered before the owner went on vacation, the staff that took my order never followed through. The manager said he was going to make a few calls and call me back, which he still hasn't done a day later. They have a sign there that if your bill is over above a certain amount to ask about their 60day payment plan which I did, but no manager was there so no one knew how to do it. The second time I went there I wanted to use the WiFi but again a manger wasn't there so no on knew the password. As a manager if you haven't trained your staff you shouldn't leave them unattended! This is a poorly run shop from the front of the store all the way back to the mechanic. read more

Got a flat tire, stopped in to see if they could help on a whim. Nothing but great customer service! They did not have my tire in stock but, they were quick to get one delivered! Had another issue with another tire and they were very helpful to resolve my problem! I would definitely recommend and I will return! You have my business! read more

Midas seems to be trying to generate repeat business by using poor quality materials. Had my entire exhaust system replaced about a year ago, and all but 1 hanger recently failed. If I had waited a few more days, the entire system would have fallen off and needed replacing! Fortunately, when I heard the rattling I took it to my own mechanic and not Midas. read more

Ridiculous estimates. Make sure you go to other mechanics to get 2nd and 3rd opinions before getting anything major fixed with these people. Seriously, you can go in for just an oil change on a 10 year old car and they'll bring out a paper saying that you need over $2000 worth of unnecessary work done right away. They're more in the business of worrying you and draining you out of as much money as they can than keeping your mind at ease and only fixing what needs to be done at the time. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! This place is a huge scam with unskilled "mechanics" - they tried to charge me $1500 when I took my truck in for inspection. They charged me $200 just to tell me that it was going to be another $1500. I took the truck to a real mechanic and I was only charged $150!! The worst of the worst! These people are the reason why woman don't trust mechanics. My story is so horrible with these people I don't know where to begin. First off these people need to be arrested for fraud. Came her for a second opinion because I had people tell me it's rare to need to get two axles fixed at the same time. So they told me I needed to get the left axle fixed and rear brakes. I did get the brakes fixed and it took them 3 hours!!! Didn't complain at all even though they told me it would be quick since I had a 4 year with me. Ordered the axle and told them I would be back to get it fixed. At the same time, one of the managers told me that I will definitely need to get the front brakes fixed in a few months even though they just did them less than a year ago! Came back to get the axle fixed 4 days later and realized later that day after I got my car that it was missing the grill protection thing the same side they were working on so when I came back in on Wednesday to get the safety inspection and oil change I mentioned it to him and the manager laughed it off like I was the one who lost it. They failed me for inspection because they said I needed front brakes and it would cost $250 but didn't they say that I wouldn't need them for a few months? I took it to Bryn mawr where my husband's goes and they said front brakes are fine but the right axle needs to be fixed. Then asked me why THEY MADE ME PAY FOR AN INSPECTION STICKER BUT DIDN'T GIVE ME ONE! Lost my grill and wasted my time and money with these people that have no idea how to fix a car plus horrible customer service!! DONT GO HERE EVER!!!! I know people who went to law school too so technically I can sue you people for false estimates! read more
