My 2004 Chevy Impala was quoted $5,700, dropped to $3,600 when I questioned them, plus a $200 "estimate fee." When I went to pick up my car, it was not even drivable--the master pipe was left hanging. I had to tow it away to Moro Auto Repair, who fixed everything for $440. I've been going to the Midas location in Tinley Park for several years and each time my vehicles have been serviced, I have been completely satisfied, and at my most recent visit on 5/23/25, it was no exception. My Yukon is over 104,000 miles and was in need of major - and costly - maintenance work. My service rep, Scott, who is always an amiable guy to deal with, worked with me in obtaining some fabulous discounted pricing saving me a ton of $$$$$. And the service performed on my vehicle was top-notch. Scott and Mike have always been honest and upfront advising me on required service needs, and they do not recommend un-necessary services for my vehicles but advise me on pertinent maintenance requirements. Review details Brake job scheduled, 7 AM appointment. Workers arrive between 7:00 and 7:10, car test driven and pulled into bay at 7:15 Text with "full inspection" sent to me at 8:06. Got link to text working at 8:10 Written estimate with proposed services presented at 8:14. Brakes and oil change consented to. I asked about 9:50 when car was going to be done. I was told shop was waiting for parts. I was told $50 would be taken off bill about 10:25 Car was done at 11:10 Thoughts and observations Why offer 7:00 bookings if you're not ready to go at 7? I didn't ask for "full inspection", especially one that took 51 minutes. It seemed random whether or not a customer was subjected to this process. Inspection included photos of a scratch I accidently put in the left door 3 months ago. I get this for a brake appointment? When I was presented the work proposal, it included a purchase proposal for 4 new tires, I was told that my rear tires didn't meet standard. I purchased 4 new tires in March 2025 (7 months ago). Rear tires with less tread than the front tires? On a front wheel drive vehicle? Tires have less than 10K miles on them. I knew right then I was being severely upsold unnecessarily. Declined tires, battery, and alignment. Accepted oil change and brakes. Texted inspection report included detailed pictures of the rear brakes, close up and wider view, which were fine. I got grainy close up views of the front brakes only. Unlike some other customers, I was not offered the opportunity to look at the condition of the brakes in the garage. During the 9:50 encounter, asked to see the rotors. They brought 1 rotor into the lobby. It didn't look at all bad to me, no grooves from grinding, but I am not an expert. But, I don't know if it actually came from my car or not. read more

I just wanted to input on this recent visit that I had at midas in Tinley Park Illinois I had an appointment these past couple of days it was my 2nd visit at midas at this location however Service Advisor name NICK BRATCHER the moment he saw me he was not welcoming towards me he was not very friendly towards me. I had kept my composure cool about it. The bad thing about NICK BRATCHER he was not being professional about reviewing what I had an appointment for my car just to double check to see if it was accurate or not. I had a bad vibe towards him. He did not take me seriously at all and just ask me to hand the car keys to him. And wait for it. I was just being corporate and just waited what I did realize when many customers came in and NICK BRATCHER was a totally different person and had this good people person and treated them kind and self respect and I observed and watch him every move what he does towards customers. It seems to me that I was not greeted the self respect and did not take me seriously but with other people it was a totally different vibe. it's just sad that NICK BRATCHER has his preferences on people maybe I was different from other people that's the reason why he treated me if I was not value at all. It's sad that this worldly has preferences on other people's and he should treat everyone equally its ashamed on his services and his so called professional it was definitely unprofessional and shouldn't deserve for him to be there as his position. The person who hired NICK BRATCHER should be a disgrace because he is a 2 face and should be terminated immediately. For me Going there the 2nd time it was my first time seeing NICK BRATCHER and for him treated me like I'm not value or did not take me seriously I had to review everything and tell him what he has done to my car he stood silent and ask me the cost I had to pay. For him to treat other customers he was being very detailed about the customer vehicles and I was observing him every move and its sad when it came to my situation he was silent at all time it seems like he was bothered the question I was asking about my vehicle he should work on his people skills and not be racist towards others he should treat everyone with different ethnicity and self respect and to be value. Without customers NICK BRATCHERis nothing without me because I'm the one who's paying for their services otherwise without customers he will be nothing. My first visit advisor name Scott Bella was very professional and well manner and he treated me with respect and very detailed about my car situation. But for NICK BRATCHER he is unprofessional and should be disgrace for him to have preferences on customers what ashamed I don't know if I will continue coming there and I will filed a complaint towards him on his behavior towards me for no reason. BEWARE!!!!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!!!!! The 1-Star Rating is only because I couldn't give 0- stars. This place has to be the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL and MANIPULATIVE establishment and staff I have ever encountered. As I just came across another review with my same type of issue, I am literally sickened by this treatment. I too am an older woman, who visited Midas (7011 W 159th St) last Monday 8/19/2024. I knew I needed to get a sensor replaced and this location was very convenient to my home. I had ONE issue that I communicated I needed to get taken care of and replaced. When I arrived I spoke to an employee named MIKE, with whom, informed me they check for their own issues with their diagnostic. I should've known something was up then! I left my car to be examined and waited the entire day just to be told it hadn't been looked at because the mechanic went on lunch! Next day rolls around and I'm told by SCOTT (apparently the manager) a list of things that popped up during the diagnostics and suggested I should get fixed. As the winter approaches I of course didn't want to deal with any issues later. I allowed them to do the work and it took another full day until I retrieved my vehicle. After paying a VERY HEFTY bill to receive my vehicle, I noticed during the next couple of days I'm having the same problem for why I brought my vehicle in in the first place! I contacted Midas again and spoke to SCOTT once again who honestly seemed like he was making things up as he went. He informed me that they didn't even check the original problem( the sensor issue) and it would be more money to get that fixed! SCOTT and MIKE are SCAMMERS!! Please Please DO NOT VISIT THIS LOCATION, ESPECIALLY WITH THESE 2 MEN working there. There's so much more that I can't fit in a review but I have NEVER experienced anything like this from any other Midas location or mechanic. You all should be ashamed of yourself! I have been taking my cars to Midas in Palos for years and now I'm using the Midas in Tinley Park (closer to home). Midas service is exceptional. Scott and Mike are personable, professional and reliable. I was having electrical issues on/off for over a week and took it there and it was fixed. They take their time explaining issues and I never feel like I'm taken advantage of. Been to many places in the past when they see a woman walk in it's a joke what they try to sell you. DONT EVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE. Wish I could give zero stars. I went in to get service done to the grill shutters, they call me and tell me the spark plugs need changed and I also need an engine tune up and agree on roughly $1000. The next day they call again and say the parts for the grill shutters are on backorder but everything else is done. I assumed the price would go down but nope apparently the first call they forgot to mention they weren't actually fixing the grill shutter is was just something associated with it and still charged me the full $1000. Not to mention they talked to me like I was an idiot and just nasty overall. I had an appointment set for Wednesday but they didn't even begin work on my car until Thursday night so don't bother making an appointment they don't even go by their own system. 3 days, $1000, and they didn't even fix the problem. Terrible customer service who just up charge you and want your money, make you wait even though you scheduled an appointment, and don't actually address your car problems until they get your money. Took me a while to find this place after using various other places, dishonest dealerships and others who no longer are in business. I have brought two of my cars here and received excellent service by the manager, Mike, and the rest of the team! Had some major suspension work done and even had them give me a courtesy ride back to my house so they could have the car for the whole day. Even that they finished early. :-) I have brought back one vehicle back in for some suspicious "sounds" and Mike (the manager) checked it out personally. With no faults found, no charge! Went into Midas for a leak in the rear differential housing of my truck. Upon inspection, I received a phone call saying I have a small leak in my power steering line. So i agreed to have both leaks repaired(replace power steering lines and rear end seal). Two days later i get a text with a picture showing my mangled rack and pinion and being told I need to replace my rack and pinion, power steering pump, power steering lines $4000 later I get the truck back and their is a problem with my streering. I took it back and they are trying to charge me $350 to fix u joints. After asking if they test drove my vehicle, after the initial repairs, I got a bunch of mixed answers, at this point I noticed a bunch of dishonesty. I will not be going back to Midas with any of my vehicles, I suggest you do the same. Definitely get a second opinion if you plan on going there. read more

Stopping here was a pleasant surprise! Mike at the front desk couldn't be nicer or more helpful to not only me but everyone on the phone and walking in the door! My car is 30 years old and he had trouble finding my particular muffler but persisted. A couple other mechanics suggested how they could maybe modify different ones if mine couldn't be found. Finally after an hour Mike found one and asked if I could wait until Monday, but then one of the other guys said he would go pick it up! He came back with it about 45 min later and they finished the job. I heard Mike tell two different customers that they couldn't find any trouble with what they reported, so they are obviously honest. Only bummer is that they are not open on Saturday but I think I found a new place that I have complete faith in their honesty and professionalism to fix my car in the future and you can too! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! I had a flat tire and needed to get my tires switched out so I came to Midas. The car was driving fine on the way to the repair shop. When I went to pick up the car, the guys told me to be careful when I drove home because something weird was happening to the car. When I sat down in the car after pickup, the dash board was filled with a bunch of new errors and warning lights. It turned out that I could barely slow the car down on the way home because the brakes were not working. I pulled in there last week when I heard a grinding sound from my wheel and thought there was something wrong with my rotor. Within about 20 minutes, they had my Audi in the shop and started to look at it. The mechanic came out and told me he found a rock jammed into the back-plate/rotor making that noise. When he pulled out the rock, the problem was solved. He said there was no charge. I really appreciate his honesty because he could've told me anything and I would not have known any better. I have taken my cars here over the last 10 years for minor work and oil changes at times. I called Joe and asked him for a recommendation for a transmission shop. Not only did he give me two recommendations, but the shop I took it to, gave me $300 off since Joe referred me. He didn't have to do that and now I will send him everything and tell everyone that these guys (Joe, Mike and Scott) get it. They are honest, genuine and great at what they do. BUYER BEWARE: They don't check fluids during oil changes! I learned this the hard way. Last spring, I brought my car in for an oil change, and they assured me that they checked everything. Well, a few weeks later, my car broke down because the antifreeze leaked into the transmission fluid and wrecked the whole transmission. I had to pay 2 grand to have everything fixed. If Midas had actually checked the radiation fluid like they said, they would've caught the leak early on. I filed a BBB complaint with them, and got a rude response from the owner. So, yeah, this 1 star rating is pretty generous. They deserve 0 stars! read more

My son brought his car to Midas 2 weeks ago for an oil change. After they changed his oil, they took his manual transmission car for a spin around the block. They said it was part of his warranty package. It broke down and now needs a new transmission. They got a faulty rebuilt transmission, so they couldn't fix it, and we're still waiting for the car. read more

Just had my exhaust system replaced here this morning. My appt was at 7, my van was on the lift by 7:20 or so and they brought me out there to see exactly what the problem was for myself. They give me a fair price and told me it would be done by 9:30. They then offered me a ride home and even a ride back to the shop when it was done (I live in Tinley Park). They called me at 9 AM or so and told me my van was ready. I had my own ride back up there, paid my bill and was out the door to a whisper quiet vehicle. The staff I encountered were friendly, the waiting area was clean, pop machine, water cooler, comfortable chairs (some without arms for strapping bucks such as I), good sized TV, nice bench outside for the smokers, and they offered fresh coffee. Have been going to these guys for years simply for the convenience of their location to my home. (Quick drive). I used to be really proud to visit them, as their staff was pretty straight-forward, no-nonsense...But after taking four vehicles their and totaling over $10K in repairs over these years my views have since changed. -Their answer to everything seems to be "NEEDS NEW (Insert perfectly fine part here) -Their parts do NOT last. -Their warranty is written so that it WON'T help you 99.9% of the time -The guys don't want to explain or reason -They don't treat you as a valued customer. Or at least I certainly don't feel like they have valued my business of the years. This is one of the sadest parts to me. -Sloppy repairs (Oil, gasket material everywhere. Air in break lines) The only little story I have to share is in regards to my Dodge Caravan that's over a decade old. I take care my vehicles... routine oil/filter changes, tire rotations and balances, cooling flushes, gator belt/pulley replacements, and I drive keeping the van's age in mind. I accelerate nice, slow and smooth to treat the transmission with love....and break consistently to wear brake pads nicely and prevent any issues with calipers. Despite slow turns...my front tie rods have failed me three times now. I think this is partially a Caravan thing... but by the third time at Midas when I confronted one of the guys, he simply told me that "The parts are all from China now, they don't last as long, and there's isn't much we can really do"... EEK! Put a better warranty on your sh** or something. In the meantime I shall look for different places to get my work done. read more

Rude! I bought a coupon on Groupon for an oil change so I called early in the morning and talked to James. I asked him if i can come in to get an oil change and he said yes, i asked do i need to make an appointment or anything and he said no, the wait time is around 2 hours. I said ok and went in an hour later. I meet james and let him know im here for the oil change, he now tells me it wont be done until before close which is 6. It was fine with me considering I can walk home. He puts me down and I make him aware I have the groupon. He THEN tells me he cannot take me at all since i have a Groupon and thats appointment only. So if i didnt have the groupon he could of got me in? What kind of BS is that?! Very unhelpful. Tuffy on 159th and 80th told me he couldnt get me in and i let him know i was leaving for michigan the next day. He told me he'd do it but it wouldnt be until 7. I came in on the early evening of 1/20/12 because I had a flat tire. With all the snow I was so glad they were still open. I ended up needing a new tire as it could not be fixed.
