He touches something in the vehicle that has nothing to do with the repair and upon doing so now I have to fix it, when I mentioned it to the lady at the front desk, she automatically got an attitude started treating me like I was a Karen. Went to Midas for the first time last week and was so pleased by the experience. My car needed shocks, new tires, an alignment, and wheel reattachment (they were literally falling off). They did all this for just under $1000, including all parts (even tires) and labor, and they did it in about half a day. After a week the car runs smoothly and beautifully. After getting jump when truck would not start at B.J.'s gas pump, we took it to an auto parts store to get a new battery. The gentleman there said the battery was fine and did not need to be replaced, so we took the truck to Midas and asked them to check the alternator. They said the alternator was fine, but we needed a new battery. That new battery lasted just long enough for a trip to Ohio, where it died again. Someone who knows what they are doing replaced the alternator, but we are out the price of a battery we did not need. Fortunately, the battery did not die in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, which would have been a precarious situation. Such a lack of concern for the safety of their customers puts their competence in serious question. read more

I've been looking for a new spot to get an oil change for Sylvia. I don't take her to the dealer because that's a total rip off. I called this location when I was dropping Nora off at daycare down the road. They said they could get me right in and to come on over. When I arrived, they greeted me and made me feel like I'd been coming here for years and we were best friends. I discussed the oil change (which kind my vehicle takes, etc). I also brought up that I had a break light out. They told me that was an easy fix (I had the bulb already!) and they'd be more than happy to fix it. They didn't charge an arm and a leg in labor to do so, which was awesome. Some other places wanted close to fifty just to change it... Ridiculous. Their waiting area is small, but it doesn't need to be anything crazy. They offer Keurig coffee and have a TV for you to watch. I definitely recommend this location. I called them on Wednesday to have my car looked at. I told them smoke was coming from my tailpipe. They said they would take a look at it. They changed my oil and said they seen nothing. That it was possibly something that got in my tailpipe and burned off. 60 bucks and some change I walked out the door. Fast forward to Friday. I had to pull over because smoke was pouring out of my 2017 pathfinder though the tailpipe. An old man helped me out. Said it was the head gasket. I had to pay a butt load of money to have it towed bc I was far from home and from the dealership. Guess what.... it's a blown head gasket. Praying me driving it hasn't caused more damage. I NEVER received confirmation of any kind and ended up having to get my oil changed somewhere else. This is by far one of the worst businesses I have dealt with. I came to them in February, 2019 for an oil change prior to making a trip to Florida. At that time I was told that I would need a complete set of tires as well as a cabin air filter to be replaced on my 2014 Kia Sorento. I advise them that I only wanted an oil change, and would consider new tires later. Fast forward to Wednesday, August 28 when I found a screw in my front right tire. I brought it back to Midas and was told again about new tires. I asked that they please fix the tire if possible. They came back 5 minutes later to say that the screw had not damaged the tire. When getting in my car this morning the check tire light was on. The screw had not been taken out of the tire I went to Gerald's Tires on Dorchester Rd. They checked all of my tires. They said Only my front tires needed to be replaced. THIS IS WHY I GO TO GERALD'S. Gerald's is ALWAYS honest with me. They never try to sell me something I don't need. Pretty nice staff who does pretty nice work. I've went there and my girlfriend has too. My girlfriend had a guy hit on her in an aggressive way and said some rude things as she was leaving. The lady working the front desk heard and they called her to apologize for the random costumer's behavior even though it wasn't there fault and they had nothing to do with him. When I arrived on Monday morning and my car was checked out, it was discovered that my left lower control arm bushing was cracked. Due to my experience on Friday, Mark, the regional manager, stepped in and repaired this problem free of charge. It was surprising that Midas takes my reviews and concerns with their customer service very seriously. I returned on Wednesday to have the problem repaired, and David took my keys then left the waiting room and stayed in the garage during the entire time of my repair. With him in the garage, I had the opportunity to meet Erica. Midas is extremely lucky to have Erica as an employee. I have never been treated with such respect and empathy for the problems I experienced on Friday. Her knowledge of the industry and customer service is bar none the best I have ever dealt with in this industry. The work that James, the mechanic, did on my car was second to none. He took care and with precision, repaired my car. It runs and handles incredible. I have never felt so safe in my car. When I push the brakes now, even without holding the steering wheel, the car comes to a stop in the same lane. Of course, I always brake with my hands on the steering wheel, I was just testing it. Anytime, I pushed the brakes there is no movement in any direction as it is aligned perfectly. Actually, I had to push them to floor when someone pulled out of front me, my car stopped with no issue, steering did not move, car did not pull and I stopped "safely". This is the kind of service we all want a mechanic to do, but this mechanic rocks like a rock star. Again, I feel safe and I won't let anyone work on my car except James. Upon leaving, I requested a refund of the original cost of the alignment that I paid. I figured the most they could say is no, and I would have accepted that on the spot; however, David decided and emphatically in a raised and argumentative tone that he would not do that. I was again amazed at his behavior. I left and called Erica and told her that this had nothing to do with her, and she asked to wait so that she could talk to Mark and try to make this right. They agreed to refund me 1/2 of the amount I paid, and are mailing me a check. Upper management in this company is all about customer service and wants to make sure that their customers are treated professionally and with the utmost respect. Moreover, without the local employees, like Erica (she again is awesome) letting management know, it would not be addressed. When a company like this brings integrity to the table, it is hard to say anything negative about them. My first review was based upon the treatment I received from David in this company; this updated awesome and positive review is based upon my treatment by Mark, Erica and James. For three people to jump in immediately to make this right and bring that integrity, honesty, courtesy, and true respect for its customers makes you want to do business with them. I encourage anyone in Summerville to visit Midas to have their car repaired. Erica will take care of you with a joyous attitude to make you feel welcome and at ease with the repair of your car. James will fix your car and make your car safe. Mark as upper management will take any concern you have immediately. Stay AWAY from this place! Took it in for an oil change. Told us we had an oil leak (which we did NOT...confirmed by our mechanic, and no oil whatsoever on our driveway...DUH) and then shorted us on the oil they put into the car. Oil light came on 2 weeks later, and dipstick showed we were down a quart. CROOKS! We will NEVER go there again. Our mechanic, who does the "heavy stuff" on our cars (power steering, front end alignments, etc.), charges way more for an oil change, but we will be going to him from now on because we know he can be TRUSTED. read more

Quoted a price on a new tire and alignment; when I picked it up they inflated the price by more than $50. Then they told me I needed a rack and pinion replacement, quoted just under $1,700. Took it to another mechanic who replaced the boot only, he said the rack and pinion was fine. Total cost was $85. I gave them 1 star because after arguing for 15 minutes they did honor the original tire price. read more

Really not that big of a deal. They finally order the part and I tell them that I have work so I'll be back in 2 days, they said that's fine. Service was timely and the price was fair. I had the flex pipe on my 2003 Camry replaced, and the work was performed as expected. My only complaint is that the tech did not remove the sticker from the new section of exhaust pipe prior to installing it. When the car was warm, the car emitted a horrible burnt plastic smell into the cabin when the heater was on due to the sticker/adhesive melting. Once we removed the sticker, the toxic odor disappeared. Despite this small issue, I would recommend this shop. read more
