The same guys are working there now as when I started going there in 2012. My son brought his car in to get a second opinion re some repairs his dealer said he needed. One of the repairs that he was told he needed was new front brake pads. When Midas looked at the brakes, they called us & said that he still had 80% left on the pads. Had a good experience while getting a wheel alignment, the over the counter representative was friendly and helpful, he didn't try to oversell me anything I didn't need and I was able to get my emission inspection and wheel aliment on my Subaru Forester the technician was knowable and explained the issue that my car was having and what he did to correct it. We had a routine oil change scheduled with Midas today. They finished the oil change, we paid and we left. Less than two buildings down, we heard a loud clunk and a grinding sound and discovered that they had failed to reattach the skid plate under our car. After we contacted them, they sent a mechanic down to where the car was, since their ineptitude had rendered us unable to drive. Smoking the entire time, he got under the car and... zip-tied it together. Still smoking, he got out and looked at us and asked, "Is the zip tie good enough?" Nope. They did eventually offer to replace the bolt (apparently, they put the existing bolt in the wrong place -- yikes!), but we were not offered a refund. Midas service as gold? Only if you're talking about the prices they charge. read more

You all know that my heart lies with Tussey Mountain Motors. But, I had some repair work done at Midas because when I took it into Tussey, they said that Midas could fix it for a fraction of the price (like 1/3) and could do it faster, too. In my continued shout out to TMM, they even looked up the number and put it on the receipt for the work I had done. Awesome people. Anywho, the people at Midas were super friendly; just with Rachel, they took me out (and under my car! eep!) to show me exactly what would be done before doing it. It only took about an hour, and ended up being ~20% under the initial estimate; that always makes me a happy camper. Solid, respectful people doing good business. I like it. read more

I brought my car here for what I thought would be a low-beam bulb replacement. The mechanic here caught a mistake made by a previous "repair" and, to my astonishment, DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING to correct this mistake. Most refreshingly, he took me into the garage and explained the problem, which I appreciated. I don't know much about cars, and as a result I usually dread going into repair shops. I feel like I have "naive girl with credit card" stamped on my forehead. While I can't vouch for Midas for serious repairs, I can say wholeheartedly that I left here feeling like a responsible car owner, and not a gullible (and/or broke!) idiot. read more

It is difficult to find mechanics you can trust. I've been coming to this Midas for 4 years now, and they've always been amazing. For a couple of small things and checking stuff out, they didn't even charge me. Oil changes are quick. Mechanics are always ready to answer questions. And when my previous car was overheating, they worked with me multiple times over several months to figure out why. Again, not charging for the minor checks most of the time. They don't try to aggressively upsell or cross-sell any services. And are always helpful and friendly. Fully deserving to five stars. read more

I got my car inspected here last year (July 2017), and they tried to tell me that my struts would barely pass inspection and would have to be replaced soon. They recommended all four be replaced which is close to a $2000 repair. I declined, and thank god. This year (July 2018) after driving around 10,000 miles (probably more as I drive all over PA), I got my car inspected at a CJ Tires in another area, and they told me nothing was wrong with the struts and they were more then fine to pass inspection. Midas tried to pull a fast one on me. I assume because I am young and don't know much about cars. Who knows how many college students they have screwed over. Don't go here. If you have to at least get a second opinion. read more

I'm giving more 3 1/2 stars since the people who work here are some of the best in the area. They won't swindle you, they charge fair prices, and their turn around is fast. Pretty much the only shop in the area to qualify. That being said... I took stars off because they NEVER fix my car. I keep trying. I take it in for fairly minor issues. I offer to pay more to get the repair done right instead of nickel and diming it, but inevitably it takes 2 trips (they don't tend to charge if they can't fix it, which is nice, but doesn't FIX my car or make up for the day of disrupted work). They also have referred me to the dealership multiple times after spending several days telling me the problem is fixed, or going to be fixed, etc. Case in point, today I'm picking up my car to take it to the dealer because I was told my AC was fixed. Is it better? Sure. Is it fixed? No. I was told, "If it was my car, it would be cool enough, you know?" Well, its not your car and you're not moving to a tropical zone where it can reach 120 in a car. When you are moving cross country with pets in the car the AC has to work. It can't just "sort of" work. Again, bottom line, do I take my car here? Yes. Are they great people? Yes. Do they fix my car? Depends. read more

I had my tires, rim, replaced, as well as an oil change. The mechanic was excellent and let me know in advance of some minor parts I needed. The person at the desk ( I believe was the manager) , Matt was very helpful and got me in and out very quickly. Midas also had a coupon for 10.00 that I used which is also a plus. This review is long overdue. I should have written it in November of 2016, but at least I'm writing it now. I have had a few different services done by Midas (PA inspection, MPI, tire rotation, oil change) and they've always been exceptional. The employees at Midas always treat me respectfully and they listen to me on the phone asking them questions trying to understand how to maintain my car. Matt, Chad, and Dan along with the rest if the awesome individuals there are helpful, honest, and friendly. There is no better choice for you! This shop is AMAZING. They are the most helpful, kind, and honest auto technicians I have ever been to. My husband and I both went here for our PA Safety inspection and emissions testing after going to Blaise Alexander where they tried to tell us we needed unnecessary work and had problems with our truck that did not exist. We went to Midas for a second opinion, and thank goodness! We paid about half the price that the other shop wanted to charge us in total. Not only were the men at Midas wonderful in that regard, but they were also very friendly and accommodating. They were professional and very helpful in explaining things especially because we were new to the area and had never done those type of tests before with our vehicles. The work was fantastic, and the price was fair and reasonable, and actually very cheap in comparison! They explained everything including the pricing so we could actually understand what was done, how, and why. I was having trouble with my vehicle making a weird noise the past week so I decided to take it back in to Midas because they were so great before. GREAT CHOICE! They were even more incredible than I could have hoped! Matt serviced my vehicle and spent a great deal of time trying to figure out the problem and how to address it. Unfortunately my vehicle's model was a little weird and he could not physically get to the piece he needed safely (these gentlemen work on all different types and models of cars, and some newer ones have a structure that can require a specialist in that particular type of company such as Nissan or Toyota). He could have just sent me away to the dealer or said he couldn't help me, but instead, Matt spent over an hour and a half doing all that he could to address the problem for me. He also gave me a wonderful and full explanation of what was going on, what I needed to do at the dealer, the specific parts and area of the vehicle that I need them to look at, how I can try to prevent the same problem from happening again, as well as some information to help me right now. I was also concerned about my tires so he took the time to check all of my tires and go over that with me. He gave me a fantastic and easy to understand explanation about the wear and tear on my tires and the best kind for me to get. Matt talked to me about the weather and the climate in this area and how that might affect my driving in my vehicle this winter and some ways to prepare for that. After all of his time, work, energy, and consideration, he did NOT EVEN CHARGE ME A SINGLE PENNY!! He just asked me to come back again when I needed anything. That was it!!! He even showed me another area of my windshield to be careful with and watch for debris and freezing rain creeping into the system. So, needless to say, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MIDAS! Midas always seems to have a backlog of work, which is actually a good sign for a car repair shop. Unfortunately, the backlog also means that you need to schedule an appointment 2-4 days ahead of time. On the flip side, they have always been fast once I took my car into the shop. Additionally, they always provide hard estimates before doing any work, and the prices have been very reasonable. read more

Both of my cars get taken care of here. I started coming here about 6 years ago. Both of my vehicles are fairly new so I cannot vouch for their repairs. For inspections, they are wonderful. It's a quick turnaround if you indicated to them you're waiting. When you drop your car off the night before, they will take care of it first thing in the morning. On a few instances, a few minor things needed fixed (spark plugs, lights) and they've always called and quoted before doing the work. Other people tell me horror stories about other shops in town, especially the dealers. Some shops/dealers will even try to say there is $1500+ work that has to be done on newer cars to pass inspection. Thankfully, I haven't been through that. Traveled from another state to the campus, and found my car has a whiling noise. This worried me a lot as I need go back to my home for a long drive that afternoon. Called several auto repair services, all of them saying busy and couldn't take me. Tried Midas and the manager listened my situation and allowed me to drive in to take a look. Mechanic Luke took my car and soon found the root cause, it was the power steering system, a pipe was leaking. They fixed my car in two hours and charged a reasonable price. The guys at Midas are honest and very professional. I have been here several times, but never wrote a review earlier. However, I think they have been doing a great job every time I have been there. If there is a problem with the car, they inspect it and create a quote. Then, the mechanic calls me inside to explain to me each and every detail about why the problem is happening, and what can be the possible solutions. In certain cases, it might be that they do not know whether the problem is fixable using their solutions, so they say that keep driving the car for a few more days and help them understand the actual issue. At the end of it, if they are just inspecting and not actually replacing parts, they do not even charge unless they have found a solution. It is pretty easy to get appointments either online or over phone and I can go sit there and wait while the work is getting done. Very polite guys. As a student, it is a boon to find a place who charge reasonably and honestly. Thanks Midas!! read more

I'm giving Saeed of Midas State College 5-Stars for his excellent customer service and for successfully troubleshooting and eliminating the mechanical vibration coming from under my car. I took my 2006 Scion xB to Sears Auto (should have known better, I know), and then to Joel Confer Toyota to have my exhaust system serviced. Sears Auto installed aftermarket pipes, and then a bad rattle/vibration noise formed. Took it back, they couldn't eliminate it. Then took it to Toyota, recommended ~$200 service to fix gasket between catalytic converter and mid-pipe - didn't eliminate noise. Finally took it to Midas in November on a final whim (after reading solid reviews), hoping they might be able to fix it. Not only was Saeed able to pinpoint exactly where the noise was coming from, he brought me into the garage and showed me where the noise was coming from while my car was on a lift. Turns out it was my engine's heat shield covering the exhaust manifold on the back of my engine (the bottom bolts rusted out and caused it to vibrate rapidly against the exhaust manifold). Saeed took care of this SIMPLE issue, and I've been noise free for the last 2 months!! Before he eliminated the noise/vibration, I was driving around for 2 months thinking about getting rid of the car. Now I'm all set - great job, Saeed! See you soon. -Mike read more

Took my car in for an idling problem. Since it was also time to get my car inspected, I had them do inspection and emissions. They were honest and up front. My car needed some work done to it in order to pass inspections. Cost of parts charged was fair and discussed before any work was done. It also needed body work for it to pass inspections. They recommended Roan's Autobody Shop who also did excellent body work for a fair price. Although they could not fix the idling problem as it was work outside of their scope of services offered,, they were kind enough to troubleshoot and offer recommendations as to where I could get my car serviced. I went in because my A/C wasn't blowing any air. I made an appointment, which meant I had to wait 3 days (no big deal). After dropping my car off, it took a little over an hour. The mechanic ruled out a bunch of solutions, fuses, blower motor, etc. but couldn't fix the problem as it was an electrical issue. He then talked with me about the problem, the most likely cause (the hi/lo switch), and where I could get it fixed. He didn't charge me for the diagnostic/inspection of the A/C. Definitely coming back here for my other car needs. read more

I was having problem with my transmission and had it to 2 other garages first who couldnt figure it out as well as charged me greatly for nothing. I took to Midas and they put in on the computer and drove it and told me what the problem was and that only a dealer could fix. They didnt charge me a dime!!
