I'm never going to a different place again to get my oil change. I love their service especially Mr. Jose, he took care of us. We've been going here for a while but since we moved we started going to different place. Well that was a big mistake! When we went back to this place Mr. Jose went above and beyond to help us out. I went for oil change and for checking why my light engine was on. They checked it and it was fix and I told him that we used to go to this other shop and I told him what happened about the fact that they told me I have to replace my right front axle. Mr. Jose told me that it should be under warranty and he did double check for me and called dealership. He didn't have to do that but he is an honest man and wouldn't lie to make easy money. read more

My own experiences here have been nothing short of pleasant. The staff is friendly as long as your patient. And they complete everything in a timely fashion. With no appointment I came in today at 10am and was out by 11:30 for an oil change and a tire rotation. My last visit I was having a lot of work done and the mechanic stayed after closing to complete the job! 5 stars! (labor is pricey ...but I'm no mechanic so I don't have a choice. read more

Just got back from having my muffler replaced, and 2 new tires. Couldn't be happier with the service. I went in without an appointment with the intention to just have the guys take a look to at my muffler to confirm that it was the problem. Had a lifetime warranty on the muffler (originally purchased in PB at Midas in 2005). The service girl let me know the process and got me in the system. Brian jacked up my Blazer and knew within seconds that the muffler needed replacing, and also let me know that 2 of the tires were bad (technically I knew they weren't so great, so this news didn't come to much of a surprise). They had my muffler in stock and were able to replace it right then, I went ahead and had the 2 tires replaced too, in a few short conversations, a walk around the block and one full magazine read my car was complete. Would definitely recommend this Midas, the service & tech guys (and lady) were all great, Brian is definitely a keeper though, I felt like he was honest, it's always tough going into a new shop not knowing who'll be working on your vehicle, while I'm sure they all do fantastic work, I know that if I ever need to go back I'll be asking for Brian. So I came to Midas for a flat tire fix. They did s good job. Had to wait a little but wasn't to long, they were moving quick to get vehicles up and running. Only thing that bugged me was customer service. This is a business you don't need to be dead or not look at someone, while your talking. That's the reason they don't get 5 stars. Some people are rude when they come in. But from sitting and watching little more eye contact and some friendly hellos might just make it better. The only reason for the 1 Star review is that the "boss" Jose actually apologized to me for the plain fact that they tried to SWINDLE me/PRICE GOUGE me for the cost of the job, otherwise it would be a 0 star. I had been here previously but solely for oil changes. When I first took my van in, the older gentlemen (George, I believe) tried to get me to sign off on a $1000 estimate, for replacing an O2 sensor ($140 part)!!! This man was completely comfortable trying to RIP me OFF simply because he saw me as a FEMALE and didn't realize I had done my homework. When I asked to speak to the boss, I explained I was not comfortable signing an estimate for that amount, and I wanted to know exactly the problem first- for example it could have been one uptake oxygen sensor (not both), and it may even just need to be reconnected. Once the "boss man" (as he referred to himself) got a sense of my knowledge and irritation, he apologized and looked me in the eye, stating, "My grandpa over there... sometime he-you know..." AKA He shamelessly rips off female customers?!! He apologized again for the "inconvenience" and quoted me $350 all in. If I did not have the time constraints and the recommendation from auto trader that they are decent at actually doing the work, I would have taken my van elsewhere. They did the one O2 sensor replacement and I left. But BEWARE of this shop! They will OVERCHARGE you if you don't insist otherwise and they will TAKE ADVANTAGE of FEMALE clients with no qualms. Jose.......ASK FOR JOSE. He is the manager or assistant manager that makes this place work. Brian, one of the mechanics, is fantastic! They will take care of you like you are a friend and someone they know. These guys look for a YES. GEORGE is a codgy old man that is gruff and rude. He makes no effort to actually solve a problem. George is the type of guy that you have to convince to do his job. No concept of customer service. "what can I do to help this customer?" is nowhere in his tool bag. JOSE and crew make the shop worthwhile, though. I have taken my cars there for years. They will give you very good prices, they will get you in and out as fast as they can. They have given me quotes for major repairs THOUSANDS less than 4 other places (I always get multiple quotes for things). They have fully earned my trust, to the point that I am so grateful to have found a mechanic/shop that I can trust. Let's face it, we as the general public are completely at the mercy of these mechanics if you can't do the repairs by yourself. read more

This place is TERRIBLE! I have had nothing but trouble both times I have used them. They were supposed to replace tail lights that burned out. They did but screwed up my trunk and didn't both to fix it. I asked manager to get me the guy who did work and he denied it. I had to drive to C & D Autocare (read my review on them) to have them look at it. The liner had come out when they installed in and Dara of C&D fixed it himself. GEORGE IS THE WORST!! First off, I was referred to Midas from another small shop down the street, due to my hour constraints. I called this morning to see if there was time to get a quote for welding my exhaust pipe. George answered the phone and was very rude. So I figured, I will just drive my car down the street so they can give me an exact quote after looking at it. This was our dialogue: Me: "Hi, I called earlier this morning to get a quote on my exhaust" George: "Okay, well I need to see it" Me: "Okay, my car is parked outside" George: "Where is your car from?" Me: "What do you mean where is it from?" (me thinking, what's the make of the car? Mazda...japan...?? George *rolls eyes*: "Like east coast west coast?" Me *WTF face*: "IDK????" (why the heck does that even matter anyway) George: "Okay? So it must be a new car or something?" Me: "Well um no but okay?" (I bought this car 2 years ago, where it came from who knows? Should I have researched my car before I went to get a quote to weld it? Why the eff are you asking me this question?????? Me: "Well you can literally see it if you just take a look under the car" George: "I'm too old for that, I can't bend down to look at it" (Wait what?? you're too old, you work at a freakin mechanics shop!! or are you just the guy that sits on the chair all day and answer phones?? because you suck at that too. Me: "Okay, well I also took a picture of it so you can see it" George: Takes phone and looks at it "you need a new muffler" Me: "3 other shops have told me they can weld it" George: "WELL TAKE IT TO THEM THEN" My first thought was, WOW you can't even try to make an effort to help me out, or look at my car, or you don't even want business?? You're pushing business away from your company. The only reason I don't want to take it to the other shops was because they are far from my house, and Midas is close. I don't want to drive with a broken exhaust! George was the worst customer service I ever experienced. I have been to Midas before and dealt with other employees that worked there and they are great!! I believe Jose might have been the one to help me previously. But because my experience with George, I will never go back to Midas again. HE made no effort to even get out of the chair. Maybe it's time you retire old guy. I found this Midas last year sometime after having lived in San Diego for 5 years. I have not gone anywhere else since. Brian, Jose, Tom and George have been my incredible each and everytime. They are extremely trustworthy and don't plan on taking my Honda anywhere else. I've had oil changes to new tires, a battery shocks and struts. After finding myself in need an oil change (6k since last change) and a tire rotation, I stopped in last Tuesday since I was in the area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They were able to get my car in quickly and I was there for less than 30 minutes! As someone that pays close attention to what my car needs (except for the last oil change, obviously), I was pleasantly surprised when the staff recommendations at the end of the visit completely aligned with what I already knew (new tires soon since I have over 60k on the current four). The other comment from the staff member (Grant), was that I appeared to be someone who took good care of my vehicle. It has been years since a mechanic hasn't attempted to convince me that at least 4 things would surely break before my next oil change, requiring immediate work. So, It was great to hear something that aligned with what I already knew and I didn't have to feel the pressure of someone trying to sell me on another "necessary" service. I will definitely give this Midas another shot at my business. read more

I took my car to have my headlights replaced. I spent over $110 at another facility and was not advised that brighter burn out quickly which would explain the 18 month lifespan of my bulbs. Carlos was the expert that I worked with me. He pointed out improvements. I spent half the price and got twice the quality. Another great service knowledgeable talent at this facility. Here's another drop in the bucket of brake locations - they tried to overcharge us. We went in, got an inspection for our rear brakes and they said both needed repair immediately. We said that we were only in for our rear ones, having replaced the front ones only 2 months prior, but the guy laughed at us and said it was our choice if we wanted to "risk it". We had a coupon that said $150 for brakes, "most cars". First, he said they didn't take the coupon at the location, but would offer us 10% off, which came up to $300 for the back ones only! $425 for both. Being we were expecting around $200 AT MOST, I was actually laughing at the ridiculous price. Here's the clincher: He tried to tell me what a great deal we were getting because our SENTRA is "not most cars". Though Nissan is the fastest growing auto distributor right now, and every 4th car I see is a Nissan, our recent year stock Sentra is somehow special. Then I remembered reading reviews for almost every brake shop ever telling every customer their car "isn't most cars". So I think it's a fraudulent way to con people into coming in, getting their car up, and then spouting off any price. In my anger, I told him to put the pads back on and give me the car. He snickered at me and said that they'd be shot within a week. Drove on them for 3 weeks, then got them replaced for about $60 through a family friend. And yep, the front brakes were perfectly fine. *This is an edited review.. My husband and I have been customers of this business for well over a decade. And in the past, we were satisfied with the service. Unfortunately, I had one ongoing issue that could be resolved no other way but to have another mechanic do some corrective work. I am editing this to reflect on a more positive note, as Mr. Tom Logan, the owner of this shop, followed up with me. He had phoned my home and left a message, and I had not had the chance to call him back for a while. He persisted until we could speak personally. This sort of persistence is proof to me that he is genuinely concerned about customer care. And to his credit, he has made an offer to make things right. And that, my friends, is the sign of a good and decent business person. Understanding that we are all only human, and that we all need second chances from time to time is an important virtue to hold. And if knowledge has value (and it most certainly does) then Mr. Logan and I have both prospered through this experience. My husband and I have always liked the team over at Midas. Not just for the work. But we just liked them. And it made me very unhappy to give a less than flattering review over this one issue. But I feel that we've all learned a little something here, and I believe that the happy ebb and flow of doing business with Midas can be celebrated once again. PART 1 OF REVIEW at this time it was 4 stars. I needed to have my brakes and rotors checked. My mom comes here all the time and gets everything done. So I decided to give it a try. I called to find out how much to have my brakes and rotors checked, they said it's free. How awesome is that. I dropped my car off and they started right away. When they did the inspection they told me that I needed new brakes and that the rotors needed to be resurfacing, that I didn't have to replace the rotors. I knew already that I needed new brakes but wasn't sure about the rotors. I told them to go ahead and do the work since I did need it. the whole process took about an hour and ten minutes and a total of $206.31 Now my car is happy and brakes smoothly. PART 2 OF REVIEW now 1 star. After a week and a half of my new brakes my car starts to make some grinding noise when I brake. So when I got off work I took it back to Midas and told them that my car is making a grinding noise and since my brakes are under warranty they need to fix whatever they did wrong. They then started looking at my car and after 20 Min's of looking they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They wanted to test drive the car to see if they can hear what I was talking about. Of course I car decided not to make the noise now and they couldn't do anything about it. It's like going to the doctor when you are there you are all better. They said that if the noise continues to bring it back. So as my driving home it does it again, really bad and loud too. My wife told me to take it ADVANTEC AUTO REPAIR and have them look at it. So I took it advactec, and they got into the car to listen to the noise they hear it right of the bat. They took the tires off and they told me that they did a bad job on my brakes, poor quality brakes where put on. He told me to go back and demand them to fix it. So Midas test drive the car again and now they heard the noise. My wife took my car for me since I had to work and she was off. They said they fixed and now 2 weeks later my car is still making some noise when i brake. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR BACK TO MIDAS AGAIN, HOPEFULLY OTHERS WILL READ THIS BEFORE GOING TOO. Went in for an oil change and they got that done pretty quickly. The guy who worked on my car showed me why my transmission fluid needed to be replaced (the color was black now after 45,000 miles, instead of pink) and I agreed to have him do that as well. The oil change and transmission fluid took about 40 minutes total. He also informed me that my brake fluid should get changed in maybe 6 months or so. It's good to know these things, especially if you don't know anything about cars like me! read more

Took my car here twice. Just for an oil change. They told me multiple things were wrong with it and that it'd cost $600+ per axle for breaks (said only my back breaks were bad but they would suggest doing all at the same time) & rotors. I decided I'd wait and browse around because that was just outrageous and I didn't even know if it truly needed the work. I took it a couple other places and they said the back breaks were perfect! Front breaks could be replaced as well as the front rotors but that it wasn't bad, just could be done soon. Overall this kind of place is clearly either very expensive or they like to try overcharging younger girls. Thankfully I ended up having the work done (5 months later.. because it was fine). I took it to Allied Gardens Automotive just a few doors down for only $350 total! Won't be back to Midas again. read more

I went here with low expectations because I've always had stellar service going to the ford dealership but i decided to give them a try for a oil change. The service was pretty quick, for a 17pt oil change. I had a coupon from ralphs or vons for a that 17pt oil change for 20 bucks, their normal price for a basic oil change is 20. They had a promotion going on, and I laughed because Magic 92.5 was there. I use to work in radio and i remember being at those kinda events for my station. Towards the end of the oil change the primary guy working on my car removed the air filter and brought it in and recommended a new one. I later checked online as to when my air filter should be replaced and online it said between 15k-20k miles. I was in that range so I didn't have buyers regret. They kept tryin to talk me into other things but i declined. They only earn a 3 stars because I know some of the other things weren't really needed and if a person doesn't just level with you and tell you that then to a person who knows enough to realize that it isn't needed, then it just seems as if they want to add extras to your bill. Id easily recommend this place to Non ford customers, who have enough experience with dealing with car shops trying to add extras to your bill. read more

This place is a ripoff. I took my car in for oil change and to check the groaning and whining noise. They told me that the power steering pump needed to be replaced, so I took my car to my regular neighborhood mechanic shop, John's Automotive Care at Riverdale St., for a second opinion. Dave at John's Auto told me that the pump didn't need to be replaced and that all it needed was add some fuel which he did at no charge and told me to drive the car around, and sure enough, the groaning noise was gone completely. Midas didn't add the steering fuel even though it was part of the oil change because they wanted the noise to remain so they could scam me by replacing the pump which did not need replacement. read more

This place is amazing. I have taken 2 different vehicles there on several occasions. There were times that they could have advised me to have unnecessary repairs and they never did. When They've given me estimates on repairs I've had my father in law (who owns a Meineke in LV) review the charges and he's told me his shop would've charged more. Midas has disappointed me. I definitely think that there are better servicers that would like me as their customer and appreciate their customers. Midas offers to schedule an appointment on-line, which is what I did. However, when I turned up for the appointment - I was told that this location was a franchise and wasn't associated or didn't have to oblige by Midas overall compliance and offers. Really? I thought that franchise did have to oblige and be respectful of corporate regulations. There was a big MIDAS sign on the building, so obviously the location wanted the advertisement... not customer service. I was literally turned away as soon as I got there. There was one person on site, not manager... No wonder that it took him about 45 min+ per car to do an oil change. So thanks... but no thanks... Currently - there are PLENTY of other options with better service and work ethics. read more

This place is a hit or miss, its hard to rate because Jerrod in the front office has GREAT customer service and the oil changes are done fast but the actual work done on your car is a big NO. So i came here in the morning because i needed an oil change, they called me back later on saying that my car need a new power steering pressure line and it was going to cost us $485.26 total with the 19.99 oil change and if we wanted them to fix it, wow almost $500 bucks, i said no right away with the intention of calling other places to get quotes cuz that sounded expensive!! we called around and found a place that was cheaper so we called Midas back telling them were just going to pick up the car and just to do the Oil change. We go to pick up the car around 2pm and we go to pay and Jerrod is breaking down the price and starts talking about getting the power steering pressure line replaced and told us it was going to cost $405.27 to fix, huh why is it 80$ cheaper now? i guess the guy who first quoted us was adding in a flush which should have been included anyways, so we say sure fix it then cuz $405 is cheaper then a quote from a different dealership. We ask them what time they close and they say 5 or 6pm i dont remember and that they have to order the part and it could be delivered within 30min and it would be done on time. 5:30 rolls around and they give us a call saying whoever delivered the part delivered the wrong thing and they already took the part apart on my car so its not drivable. WTF?? Well i need my car because one my husband has his own car and drives to work at 5am and i have my own car because i do have to drive my daughter to school in the morning and etc...what are we suppose to do now? i asked if they can get us a rental and they said they could only pay 30$ towards a rental, so i went out of my way to call places for rental prices and everywhere was over $30 and i def wasnt gong to be spending money out my won pocket for one so i ended up having to drive my husband to work at 5am the next day and my car still wasnt fixed till around 5pm the NEXT day after having my car for the WHOLE DAY. I did ask them to take the $30 off my bill because we didnt end up getting the rental car so our bill including the oil change and taxes was 375$ which isnt bad but i rather have paid the higher price then to have to be put through all of that again. I would come to get an Oil Change and Just that, thats it, i will never get work done on my car here again. And Jerrod gets an A++ for helping us with the whole situation and being nice and courteous to us. read more

It all started with my xterra overheating on my way home. The temperature indicator was all the way in the red and I could smell the coolant fluid. Lucky me, I am just 1 block away from Midas and hope I make it to the lot. Yeah, I made it. I open up the hood to find the radiator top seam was opening up and foam coming out of it. No question, I needed a new radiator. Anyway, I talked to the manager. While he was trying to find the parts, (he let me know I could wait for it. It will take about 2 hours). I called Nissan of El Cajon to get a price from them. "See my review for nissan El Cajon." OK, price was quoted to about 500. (Nissan quoted 950). So I said "ok, and in addition, check out the AC. It's not cooling, I said. Probably a leak." The guys said they could not find the parts to make the repairs this evening, however, I could leave it over night, and they would give me a ride home. I took the ride, rather than spending money on UBER. Anyway, I picked up my car today. Everything, radiator, flush, new coolant, AC repair and charging system total $761. I know its not cheap, but definitely cheaper than Nissan. Thanks guys. I hope I have the enjoyment of the cold AC for years to come. Ciao Ciao. read more

Wow! It takes a lot to impress me these days, and I left here today very impressed! My brakes had started squeaking a bit so I brought it in to have them checked out since the dealership hadn't said anything at my last service. They quickly explained the process to me and the took the car to perform the inspection. After about 15 minutes they came back and let me know that my brakes actually were in really great shape and would keep going for quite a bit longer. I can't tell you how much better I felt to know this information, but especially to know that they were honest about what I didn't need in this situation. I will definitely go back for my next service and when I need my brakes to finally get replaced. Really great, friendly, and speedy customer service! This place is awful! Do not come here! I had my brakes done in September of 2012 because they guarantee brake pads and shoes for the lifetime of the car. Well three months later they started squeaking. I brought then back in and they said I needed new roters (?). My car was 6 yrs old and had about 60k on it, so I said okay fix it. Well today I heard grinding. No squeaking since 2012. They told me I need to replace the pads and roters again. In 16k I have damage them beyond repair!!! Are you serious?! I said they should replace everything for free. They said no to the roters because they are only under warrantee for a year. How convenient they are barely out of warrantee! Shoddy work! Shoddy materials!! Never come here please! They should be forced to shut their doors!! read more

I started going to this Midas for routine oil changes because it's conveniently close to my home. I just call a few minutes ahead to check in on the wait time (and there usually isn't one). I also had all four tires replaced recently and their prices were about the same as competitors. The wait time for that wasn't bad at all either. I have been taking my car here since 2007 and they have always done great work! They are quick and efficient and offer a military discount to active duty members. Their mechanic Brian does great work an he is my go to guy whenever I need something done to my car he's the only one allowed to touch it. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have been here before and the owner Tom and his staff changed out my master cylinder along with the proportioning valve and did an amazing job!!!!! No problem since then which has been around 6 months. Last week when I got my oil change at another location (big mistake, should have came here) the car kept pulling left. I went to 2 brake specialist in the area (big chains) and they wasted my time and couldn't find the problem. I came here today and their lead tech Brian along with the manager Jose found it immediately! Turns out the tires needed to be balanced as everything else displayed no problem. I would disregard the negative reviews and bring your vehicle here. You will save time and money. Thanks Tom for standing behind your work and business.
