She replied it was not a problem and quoted $75 which is robbery but at least allowing the ability to use my own choices they don't offer. Went there, sat in line and once in the bay was told by the freakish young man with garish colored hair, gigantic septic piercing and black fingernail polish that while I could use my oil, I could NOT use the OEM filter I brought, that I HAD to use their filter. I spoke of the call I made and assurance it was no issue and IT replied that I had probably spoke to someone at corporate who didn't know what they were talking about. That the location I was in was privately owned and using my filter was a liability issue for them and not possible. This made no sense as they are just supplying labor and I can't see how using the cars manufacturers filter could be a liability, but their filter wasn't. I was told take or leave it, so I left, having wasted 10 minutes on initial call, 15 minute ride to shop, 20 minutes in line and 15 minute drive home. An hour of wasted time and no oil change. The auto shop told me my oil was beyond old. I called and complained to manager at Lusby Valvoline. He was very nice but told me he had video footage that my oil was changed. I believe they changed my oil but put old oil in my car because how do I go from Valvoline with new oil straight to auto shop less than 20 miles away and my oil was black as the midnight sky. I payed 109 dollars just to pay the auto shop I dropped my car off at to change the oil again. I will never be back to a Valvoline again. I have had nothing but bad experiences. They close at 6 and I asked them if I could come by 4:45? Sure! Their waiting room is nice and clean with a coffee machine and water cooler. So they started working on the car immediately and told me that my car recommendations are synthetic oil, more expensive than regular. I asked them how much? They said $92 and I could change the oil every 5,000 miles instead of 3,000 if I bought the regular. They also said they can use regular oil which would not really make a difference, that's all they had to do was change the viscosity and that would be $52. I decided to go with my car recommendation and chose the $92. After a half hour it was done. Total price $92. That included oil change oil filter change to off all fluids and put air in all 4 tires because the low tire light was on. They said I didn't need to change my air filter because it was fine. Honesty is very important to me and I was impressed they didn't change the air filter when it didn't need to be changed. I think most other places would have. I will be in 5000 miles for sure!!
