I inquired about using my own oil and filter and cost to do the labor. She replied it was not a problem and quoted $75 which is robbery but at least allowing the ability to use my own choices they don't offer. Went there, sat in line and once in the bay was told by the freakish young man with garish colored hair, gigantic septic piercing and black fingernail polish that while I could use my oil, I could NOT use the OEM filter I brought, that I HAD to use their filter. I spoke of the call I made and assurance it was no issue and IT replied that I had probably spoke to someone at corporate who didn't know what they were talking about. That the location I was in was privately owned and using my filter was a liability issue for them and not possible. This made no sense as they are just supplying labor and I can't see how using the cars manufacturers filter could be a liability, but their filter wasn't. I was told take or leave it, so I left, having wasted 10 minutes on initial call, 15 minute ride to shop, 20 minutes in line and 15 minute drive home. An hour of wasted time and no oil change. Grease Monkey on Ritchie Highway is unlike any automotive repair shop I have encountered in the…read moreBaltimore-Glen Burnie area. What separates this location from the typical garage is their combination of speed, mechanical capability, immediate service, and determination to finish the job correctly. I brought my vehicle in for substantial rear-brake work involving new brake drums, wheel bearings, brake components, hardware, and the related parts needed to properly complete the repair. Instead of telling me to leave the vehicle for several days before a technician could even begin, they started working on it immediately. That is the remarkable part of their business model. They provide the urgency people expect from a quick-service operation, but they are capable of performing serious and complex mechanical repairs. When additional parts were needed, they were able to obtain them from nearby suppliers extremely quickly. In one instance, the replacement drums arrived in roughly 15 minutes, and the technicians continued the repair without unnecessary delay. I also observed other customers arriving with automotive problems and saw the same sense of urgency: diagnose the problem, obtain what is needed, and get to work. There was no attitude of, "Leave it here and maybe we will get to it in a few days." The young leadership and technicians work with tremendous tenacity. If a repair requires another component, another adjustment, or another step, they keep moving forward until the vehicle is properly repaired. I did not have to stand over anyone or repeatedly ask whether the related components were being addressed. They handled the repair comprehensively. Many dealerships and traditional repair shops can keep a vehicle for several days simply because it is waiting in line before anyone begins working on it. Grease Monkey has created something different: bring the vehicle in, get the repair started, obtain the necessary parts quickly, complete the mechanical work, and get the customer back on the road. Their building says, "Done Fast. Done Right." After experiencing their service firsthand, I can say that is more than advertising. It describes how this location operates. For drivers, families, commuters, and businesses with fleet vehicles throughout the Baltimore and Glen Burnie area, this is a shop worth knowing about. Five stars. Grease Monkey is not simply another repair garage. They are demonstrating what modern automotive service should look like.

Quick fix in a jiff, also ask about discounts!!!!!…read more This place gets a lot of business, why? because they are good. On average they get about 30 cars a day. That's a lot for a little station like this. They have 3 bays and carry a full team so they move at a reasonable clip. IF YOU WANT SAVINGS THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. Save up about 200-300 bucks. Withdraw the cash from the ATM so you have actual green backs. When you get there, don't just get an oil change, get other stuff done too. Your car will need everything on that list done at least once. If not done by you, then by someone else. And if you don't do it, expensive consequences are your future. Then once you picked out what you want done, tell them you want to pay in cash and ask them about discounting the work. Don't be afraid to get the manager involved. They WILL work with you. I've been their 7 times. NOT ONCE have I been turned down on a discount. I get all my basic services done here. I'd do it myself, but I don't feel like dealing with the oil left over. Here is the price breakdown. on what it costs you to do it yourself, as to oppose what they will do for you. Do it yourself route: Well to get 5qt of that oil from Autozone would run you about 50-60 bucks. Also keep in mind, you have to dispose of that oil at the county landfill. From Dunkirk, you could be looking at an hour to hour and a half drive. So figure about 7-10 bucks to drive your car from point A to point B and back again. Then let's make sure you buy yourself a new oil filter too. So that will run you at about 5-10 bucks depending on what you need. Need other stuff done too? I guess your taking your time and looking it over and seeing if you can buy a few quarts of brake fluid or that gallon of windshield wiper fluid. So low balling it, you're looking at about 60 bucks. That's getting the oil and dealing with it at the landfill and replacing the filter. Maybe spend an hour or so jacking up the car, getting everything in place, getting the pan, draining the line, plugging it up, and so on and so forth. Or you could pay 90 bucks and have someone do it for you in about 15-20 min. Who will also check the stats of your other basic maintenance needs and top off your fuel levels. This is assuming you DONT ask for a discount. Are they worth the extra 30? YES! Could you talk them down and make it only an extra 15 -20? Yes, but you need to be loyal. That counts here.

I can't recommend The Car Doctor enough!…read more My transfer case catastrophically failed, and I was incredibly lucky that my car broke down just two minutes away from their shop. It was around 10:00 PM, so I searched Google for the nearest repair shop and found The Car Doctor. Even though they were closing, one of the employees took the time to help me drop off my car. That alone showed me they genuinely care about their customers. The next morning, my car was fully diagnosed, and they clearly explained the issue and gave me multiple repair options without any pressure. Since replacing the transfer case is a major job, I was told it would likely take a few days. To my surprise, I received a text message the very next day around 5:00 PM saying my car was ready for pickup! I honestly couldn't believe how quickly they completed such a big repair. The price was very fair, but what really stood out was the outstanding customer service, professionalism, honesty, communication, and efficiency. Everyone at the shop treated me with respect and made a stressful situation so much easier. Thank you to the entire team at The Car Doctor for taking such great care of me and getting me back on the road so quickly. You've earned a customer for life. Highly recommended!
