Please go somewhere else and save your money!! I went to get my AC fixed, paid over 800 and my AC still blew hot air when they gave it back to me. Even better they gave it back with a horrible squeaking sound coming from the belt that was not there before. The "mechanic" claimed that it needed to be seen by an electrician and that he'd have to hook it up to some crazy devices to determine the problem which I'm sure he planned to charge me extra for. Once I told this to my boyfriend, he said it was my relay instantly. We replaced it and now my AC works. A relay is $10 btw. Don't be an idiot like me and waste your money with these guys. Went in for an oil change and they put full synthetic oil in my 2007 Camry despite my asking for conventional oil. When I went to pick up my car, they told me the cost was $94 when I was expecting closer to $40 because that's what I typically pay for. When I questioned it, they tried telling me that my car requires full synthetic oil- i responded that I've been getting conventional oil for as long as I've had the car, not to mention that it's an old car and one of the most basic models out there. The solution the mechanic offered to this was that if I really am concerned about the oil type, I can pay for a second oil change for them to take out the synthetic oil and put the conventional oil in. I rely on my car as a home health nurse, so having an up-to-date inspection is essential. My windshield had a crack over six inches, so my inspection was pending until I could get it replaced. After multiple delays due to inclement weather, Safelite finally replaced my windshield today around noon. I immediately called Midas to ask if I could bring my car in for an updated inspection and new stickers since I work tomorrow and need everything in order. They said I could come in, so I did. When I arrived, I explained that my windshield had just been replaced, I needed the updated stickers/state inspection, and I requested that they be lined up neatly in the lower-left corner since I planned to get my window tinted. Unfortunately, when I got my car back, the stickers were placed unevenly, obstructing my vision. On top of that, there is now a 5-6 inch hairline scratch parallel to the new stickers on my brand-new windshield. This is incredibly frustrating-especially since I was proactive about communicating my needs. Now, l'm left with an obstructed view and potential damage to a windshield I just replaced. I expect more attention to detail from a professional shop, especially when dealing with something as important as visibility and safety. Would not recommend based on this experience. read more

They call the other midas to ask where did they get the brakes and rotor from... which was the wrong auto supplier...It should have come from a Mercedes benz dealership I went back to them to ask wheb can they correct their error they said they will call me when break and rotor come in which was May 1,2024 9am they finished at 11:00. I called over the phone to see if they had openings for a oil change and if they would honor my coupon that I received via email.. the guy on the phone said yes to both questions but only one question was actually taken care of. DONT BRING YOUR CAR HERE FOR INSPECTION!! I brought mine in for inspection and the check engine light was on. Cost over 2400 and they told me they couldn't do the emissions test until I drove it 200 miles but it would be free when I came back cause that was all that was still needed to pass. They stated they had to do both stickers at the same time. I bring the car back and they tell me it won't pass without 4 new tires and my car would not pass the safety part. When I told them NO, they only gave me the emission sticker but not the safety sticker. How come they could do 1 sticker the second time but not the first? They just LIE to get more money out of you!!! read more

Arrived the next day at 10 o'clock on time told the guy that I was here for my transmission admittedly this woman to the right with a bad attitude told me that we don't do transmissions. I said why didn't the guy tell me, as a matter of fact Assured me that they did do transmissions. I recently moved to Philly for school, and needed a mechanic for an auto inspection. My inspection was several months expired, and I didn't know any mechanics in the area, so I took it to this Midas because of the convenient location. They got me in quickly, and the day after I dropped the car off they called me to let me know it had failed inspection. They said the breaks were completely shot and needed to be entirely replaced, and the front control bar was broken. They quoted me $2,500 for the job!! (The car can't be worth more than $4,000 at this point) After talking to some more mechanically-minded friends and family, I decided to take the car back home and have it inspected by a local mechanic. It passed inspection without a problem. I asked about the breaks, and he said the front breaks were "in near perfect condition" and the back breaks still had years left, just a little rust. He said the control bar had "a little play, but nothing that warrants fixing it." Let this be a lesson in having a relationship with a mechanic you trust. This Midas was clearly trying to rip me off since I'm a college student with little mechanical knowledge. read more

Short story: Do NOT use them for a state inspection! Long story: Took my car in for PA's annual inspection because I got a coupon for a free state inspection (my first mistake). The mechanic claimed I needed about $3000 in suspension work (shocks, struts, tire rods, and nearly everything else with the suspension) in order to pass. I found this to be utterly shocking as my car was driving fine and had no symptoms of a failing suspension. I smelled something fishy and took it to my trusted mechanic (Mid City Tire & Auto) who found nothing wrong with my car! We were talking about it and he mentioned that Midas likely just looked at the maintenance schedule for an Elantra and claimed everything needed to be replaced (we both had a good laugh). Please save yourself the hassle (and money) and get your car inspected somewhere else. read more

Typically, I go to this location for an oil change. I never have an issue with that. However, in Decembed of 2022, I needed alot of work done to my Jeep. One of the issues was a crankshaft sensor because my Jeep would Stall out whole driving and I have to wait minutes before it could move again. The total invoice in December was a little over $1,100 for everything. Despite the service, the new censor still gave me issues and continued to Stall well after driving 300 miles in effort to reset the system. I've been calling since January for the replacement part and there is still no fix. My car is still stalling and even stalled on a major highway, putting family at risk of an accident. It's been almost 9 months. Every time I called, I'm told the dealer either didnt have it, it's being shipped and delivered, or, the sensor was damaged upon arrival. It's starting to make me think that Midas doesn't want to honor the one year warranty, and I don't have any proof that the order was actually submitted for the replacement. Also, when I call, there is only one person who knows what's going on and I'm told I will be called back...but I don't get called back. This is the worst experience over ever had with any auto shop. My next steps are to go to senior management and then the consumer authorities because if my Jeep stalls again and there's an accident, Midas could easily get away with no liability. read more

When my regular mechanic said my 2000 Neon had a transmission leak back in May 2022, I took my car to Midas in Upper Darby primarily due to its close proximity to my home. I took my car in around 9AM. Midas told me I had a transmission pan leak, needed a radiator belt, serpentine belt, transmission flush for a total of approximately $700. The mechanic started working on my car around 10:00 AM. I watched as the mechanic sprayed sealant on the transmission pan for about 20 minutes and then stopped for about an hour and I couldn't figure out why. I asked the man at the front desk who said they were waiting for part. At approximately 11:30AM the part arrived and the mechanic kept looking at it and putting it down. I went to the front desk around 12:00 PM and asked how much longer it was going to take. They ordered the wrong part and were ordering the correct one now. I told them to just fix the leaking pan and replace the radiator belt. I paid $353.14 for the repair. After my 2023 inspection my regular mechanic said I had a transmission pan leak! I contacted Midas, said I was there back in 2022 for the same thing and was told by the man answering the phone they don't work on transmissions! I complained to corporate headquarters whereupon a case was created. Kenny, the manager of the Upper Darby Midas, contacted me and said he would have his master mechanic look over my car to see what was wrong. I made and then cancelled the appointment and took my car to a shop specializing in transmission repair. They found there was no transmission pan leak. It was the coolant lines that were leaking and gasket needed replacement. Midas might be ok for an oil change or to change a tire. but anything major I would not recommend Midas. read more

So it's been a month of me calling the customer service line to try and resolve my claim #4239253. And I've provided a statement from a different mechanic who confirmed that the work done by Melvin at Midas was falsely provided. The only reason I took it in was for a noise that I later discovered was the transmission. But I was told I needed $2,000 worth of brakes and labor to fix the problem. Imagine my surprise when I drive away and the noise was still there? I was over charged for parts not included and job half done. In the picture you'll see half the pads were installed and the 'new' hardware. When I called Melvin he had his mechanic that worked on my van yelling in the background about how he did what he could and that I should drive in to talk about it. Lol. The only thing I can do now is help warn people not to trust these crooks and keep on corporate. read more

Like many others, I'm going to need to walk this back a little. I came by for my annual inspection. What I found was a slightly less honest approach with an obvious upsell. I'll probably skip my future stops here except for the very basics. Pros: They're really fast. They're fairly inexpensive for basics (look up a coupon and you'll save some dough). Easy to access and they have good parking. Cons: Prices are higher than comparable independent shops. They failed me for a safety inspection. I took my car back and shopped around. In comparison to some other mechanics, I found they were about 20% more expensive. I suppose that's corporate, or maybe something else. They attempted to fail me for some other issues that were not real (specifically brakes). I discussed with another mechanic who noted the wear, but said they were sufficient to pass (which is a reasonable approach). I had him replace them anyway given the timing and other repairs, but again, the quote from Midas was about 20% more expensive. Conclusion: I can't recommend Midas anymore and I feel bad for leaving a positive review before. I'd stay away for anything but the most routine. I'll probably never come back though. read more

Call around 2:30 found it odd I had no prior contact and they close at 5. So they tell me it's not done they were sent the wrong part. And if I could leave it. I told them this was discussed twice that I had a trip I am using not only my day off but my son's bday to have this done and I needed it done by 2:00. He said it is very difficult to get to he can send me diagram it's wrapped around this and that. Then asked when I was getting it. I said 15 minutes. He then says no way I can have it done by then. Don't go here. There mechanics are either bad or trying to get money out of you. When I went in for a routine oil change, they told me my shocks were leaking fluid and that it needed to be changed asap. I said no, ill take it to the dealer. I scheduled an appt with kia and had my car taken in, turns out they dont need to be changed yet, and that they are seeping a little bit but its normal. Midas tried to get me to pay an extra $500 for something that isn't a problem, and this is something every mechanic would know cuz its not unique to any one car. Also, they changed my light switch on another car because they said it wasn't shutting off fully, which was true. They replaced it, and not only did they not fix the problem but they installed the switch upside down so it says off when on and on when off. Don't go here. There are other places. I've had my car for over 8 years and experience has taught me a thing or two about cars and general costs to fix things. That being said, I like the guys at Midas. They're straight shooters. The explain things without making you feel dumb. That is especially nice if you're a woman because, from time to time, you'll have mechanics talk down to you. I've had experiences with mechanics bullshitting you and pressuring you to fix things. Not these giys. If they find something they let you know whether or not its a serious issue that needs to be taken care of ASAP or if its not immediate, in case you don't have the money. Unlike other mechanics, they don't pressure you to do fix something that isn't a serious issue. Overall good experience. The receptionist can be a bit gruff with people but never rude. Be warned, they have a ridiculously small tv in the waiting room so drop off if you can or, if you decide to wait, bring a book or make sure your smartphone is charged to do some web browsing. read more
