I literally drove 35min to get the inspection because I really needed the inspection done that day. I've been here many times. Just called to set up a simple oil change and got put on hold, which is fine. Then someone answered and hung up on me. Then I called back and was asked if it was okay to be put on hold and when I responded, "No, you just hung up on me," I was simply ignored and put on hold again. Terrible customer service! read more

Took my car for a simple repair I even had the new part I needed kept my car for a week and didn't do anything to it at all charged me $212 for Diagnostics when I told what the problem was and because I didn't want to pay 1000 dollars for what they was trying to do to my car they didn't do anything to and told me it's their policy not to accept customer parts then why even take my car in when I clearly explained what I needed honestly if it's a oil change I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I'm pissed off with the lack of communication and the inconvenience of the whole situation the Mechanics are knowledgeable but their policy is total bullshit cause the part they wanted to change cost $150 and it's used because it isn't Manufactured anymore all in all I had a horrible experience with this business and I'm still waiting on my refund from them read more

Very poor customer service. I requested an appointment online which said a 5:30pm appointment could possibly be available. When I got the call the person on the phone told me they don't take appointments that late and he offered me a 4:00pm appointment. I let him know that I have to work until 5 and he immediately got rude and short with me. I asked him if he had a 5:30pm appointment available on a different day and he again, very rudely and in a condescending tone, said they don't do appointments that late. This doesn't make sense to me when the website said they take walk-ins and are open until 6:00pm. I just wanted a simple Lyft Driver Inspection. I will not be returning to this store for service. Son fixed head gasket but car wouldn't start possible timing issue. Towed car to Midas, paid $218.52 for diagnostics. 2 days later Midas calls at 5:45 car is done. Son goes to pick up car and they say it's $800.00 and something dollars, NOT the couple of extra dollars they said it would be if it was the timing. Now (partially handicapped) mom has to go down to Midas to show her face(they couldn't do FaceTime? Shoot even the courts do zoom and this is just Midas!!) and ID because there wasn't over $800 on her card at the time my son went to pick his car. I get inside to pay,$654.89(hmm senior discount??) son gets car home runs good looks under the hood and they didn't work on any of the work my son had previously did. They worked on the cam shaft sensor and intake AND THEY NEVER EVEN TOUCHED THE GASKET THEY SAID THEY WORKED ON ( added gasket maker) AND WE PAID SO MYCH MONEY FOR. I wANT MY MONEY BACK!! read more

This is the worst mechanic shop I've ever been to the young manager informed me my truck was leaking oil and it had no oil in it then proceeds to leave my truck running in the shop with no oil and I asked him what he's doing and he says you need a new motor anyways which isn't true I looked at the leak myself and it was a loose oil filter now my truck is driving good with a little bit of a lifter tick just beware they will do what they can to make money I've never had a shop do this kind of thing. DO NOT GO HERE! I brought my car in for an oil change over a month ago, soon as it comes out my check engine light was on and my car was leaking some type of fluid. They said they can fix it for $800! I called the owner of the franchise and he told me they reviewed the tape and his mechanics weren't the cause of the leak! I have a customer since 2014 and have own two different cars. Midas has expertise in both domestic and foreign made cars. When I have had major repairs they send me pictures and/or show me the parts. They explain the problem and give me accurate estimates both on cost and time of repair. I have brought my car into them that same day for an inspection for possible repair. A couple of times they report no service needed or fixed the very minor problem quickly the same day. I am very please with their service over the years. read more

I don't know what the heck happened, but the guy running this place now is such a jerk and quality has gone downhill. The last manager was so kind and honest and would provide pics of problems. This guy acts like he's doing you a favor and seems more interested with talking on the phone than helping people. I won't give them any more of my money! read more

Not only does Midas on Lake Street have the best price I found for an oil & filter change, they also have excellent customer service. It was very quick and easy to schedule an appointment online, and I was lucky to get a spot on the same day even. Erick was very nice both over the phone and in person. I decided to wait in the lobby while my car was being serviced, and they offer complimentary soda, coffee and Wi-FI, and I didn't even need it because I was in and out in less than an hour! At Midas they do a complimentary inspection on your vehicle, and Erick personally came over to me to show me that my air cabin filter was dirty. I decided to not replace it at the moment, and he offered to try to dust it off with the compressor, which he said made most of the dirt come off! Yay for saving money. I recommend this place for everyone needing oil & filter change! I really like this Midas .. They are very friendly & check Everything ..David Lara was very good in checking & ordering everything I needed. I got the Goodyear tires I wanted & they found a problem with a tire rod & fixed that & alternator as well... The Lobbys warm @ great coffee as well..And I had a conference call with my company while waiting, David Lara was nice in offering to let me use upstairs office for this if I needed to.. Two things I value about a mechanic beyond competency: 1. That they don't talk down to me because I'm a woman. 2. That they give me reasonable estimates for how long I should wait for various repairs. This place has those things in spades, plus easy booking online, friendly employees, a comfy waiting area, and I've never had to wait more than a day for service. They repaired my rusty exhaust system, sought out second hand parts to save me money, repaired an additional part as required when they started the first job without charging me more than the original quote (!), and overall went out of their way to take extra great care of me! I live a few blocks away from this location and have used them for the majority of my Jeep work for the last several years. They are a really nice bunch of guys, very pleasant to deal with. They address my reasons for coming in and suggest preventative maintenance work as needed. There's never been any pressure to do more work than I'm comfortable with. I just had a couple of issues taken care of this week. I was offered a loaner car and the work was done by the next day. **I wanted to mention that I noted a subtle change at this Midas location a few years ago. It felt like they decided to make a real effort at enhancing their customer service. I'm not saying they were 'bad' before, but I could tell they realized that people appreciated that. I have used Midas for years. They helped keep my reliable old Saturn Wagon going for 20 years. Today I brought in the new car hoping that they would be willing to inflate the tires so I don't have to go outside in subzero weather to respond to low inflation alarms. (I have tried in the past and it never seems to work doing it tire by tire.) They kindly obliged and when I picked up the car a couple of hours later and asked them how much I owed them, they just waved me off and asked me to write a review. Today, they quickly identified what was wrong with my vehicle, and causing the Noisy, Rough braking. I had the front brakes worked on. A new wheel bearing assembly too. Expensive? Yes. But, cheaper than buying a new vehicle, and having to deal with the added expense of increased auto insurance rates. Midas is a fantastic deal! This place is excellent. I rarely leave reviews but these guys will forever have my business. I usually go to the dealer to have my vehicle fixed, but got tired of the run around when I used to repair cars myself. Eventually I decided to look up one of the best Uptown/ Minneapolis repair places and this was on top of the list. The reviews were right. The manager/staff is a great, and honest. Before they work on your car they will bring you inside the repair shop to visually show you what is wrong if you request. I did and noticed everything said was correct. The manager applied coupons on the spot for me and it was MUCH cheaper than the dealer! I'm now recommending this place to all of my friends/family. read more

Went to this location yesterday to get a routine oil change. Great service! I had a coupon for the standard oil change for $19.99, there was no pressuring me to choose the more expensive option or to get other things done on my car. This was greatly appreciated! I have spent a lot more money at other Oil Change Stations near uptown from pressuring me to add on other things, so this was a great relief. I will definitely be coming back! read more

When it was just me bringing car in to our local shop for an oil change. No problem. They delivered on time as promised. Last oil change my partner brought the car in. When she came back an hour later at the appointed time, turned out they had a list of problems to show her that would cost $1000 to fix and they hadn't gotten around to changing the oil yet. Made her wait another hour just to get what she came in for! So this time we decided to run an experiment. She brought it in at the appointed time. Was told 45 minutes. We both walk back in an hour later. They tell us there's something wrong with the brake they need to show us but otherwise its ready. I tell them no, we are aware of the problem, we just want the car back. We're told oh wait we just need to take the car back into the shop to put the brake back together (so wtf, you drove it with a disassembled brake??). Then guy comes out and says oh it'll just be 30 more minutes we need to change the oil, things got backed up!!!! So, at this point we've been lied too several times. They maybe drove the car with the brake disassembled, and they didn't even do the oil change in the amount of time we were promised! But apparently they had plenty of time to draw up another list of expensive repairs. They seemed really flustered. Like they weren't expecting to have to explain all this to someone who actually knew something about cars. Bottom line. Avoid this shop. Especially if you are a woman or someone who doesn't know anything about cars. They'll probably yank your chain and try to sell you some overpriced services you don't need and take forever to do the actual job. read more

This place is great! Jose, the manager, is the nicest, most honest manager that I've ever met at an auto repair joint! I just went in because my car was doing the icy shimmy so common up here and it actually turned out that I needed two new tires. Not only were they speedy and efficient but they were pretty cheaply priced! Midas.com has amazing coupons for most anything you'd need for your car (19.99 for an oil change plus tire rotation!? yes please!). The staff is so professional and friendly. I didn't feel like they were trying to con me at all, and they knew exactly how long it would take. Having starter/brake issues with my car recently and made an appointment with these guys this week. Fearing that I would have to put more $ into my car Midas gave me an honest opinon on what they thought was wrong with my car...which was nothing! They brought me out and showed me my brakes on all four tires and checked the starter which had no issues as well. Anyways if you are looking for an honest opinon(see my earlier post on Autopia, which stated I had front brake problems and needed $2k worth of repair work) I would recommend these guys. Can't say this is true for all Midas' but would like to recognize the Lake St. location for thier honest work. Definitely made my day and week! Thanks guys! read more
