My car was having issues with the key turning and i called midas to simply request them inspect it (which i was told would be done for free) as i knew the issue was with my ignition cylinder. When i was called back i was told the inspection would be 400 dollars in labor and 1400 for the new ignition cylinder. When i declined the service since i figured it was overpriced my car was returned in the state below, i now have to do additional work since midas reinstalled my wheel wrong with the airbag cord BEHIND the wheel entirely now causing a new light on my dash to pop up even after I had the wiring fixed. When i told the manager, Tom, about these issues i was having he ran into his office with Dante ,who worked on my car and i was unable to get in contact with them for days after this took place. I usually only leave reviews on places i enjoy going to but if you want to avoid being scammed i would not go here. I was only refunded 140 for the scratched part and was not offered for it to be fixed or by someone other than the original person who damaged my vehicle. read more

I have been coming here for the last three years: for oil changes, diagnostic checks, replacing headlights, fixing other wear and tear issues with my 11 year old Honda. They've always been so friendly, helpful, explained everything to me before proceeding with service and never been pushy or tried to nickel and dime me. I went to a different auto repair place nearer to my new home to address an issue for me, and after that my car was super noisy and the hood of my car was not fully closer. I went in for an oil change, and to have my tires rotated. That was done perfectly. I was a walk in and they took me right away. They finished in under 30 minutes. Before they put the tires back on , the tech asked me to come see my front rotors and back struts. He said that they needed to be replaced ASAP and pointed to the center of the side rotor and asked if I could see the damage. I saw a dirty rim and my brakes , surprisingly looked very good to me. I have not had any indication of replacement. My car sensor says my brakes are ok. He then showed me the rear struts which were not terrible, but have a few more miles on them. He proceeded to explain to me that my rear tires had been damaged due to the struts. Coincidentally, last week I replaced the rear wheel bearings on both sides. I let it go which actually was why my tires were worn down. He said that the bearings would not affect my tires in such a way so it was definitely the struts. He gave me an estimate of $1850. That included a battery, as the one I just bought in November at Pep Boys was very low and was not going to last much longer. He suggested I ask pep boys for a replacement but three months was too long to get one. I was dumbfounded, and my face probably had sucker written all over it. Luckily I knew enough not to proceed but my hanging jaw and lack of words must have given the wrong impression. He was so convincing that his coworker joined in and confirmed everything to be accurate. He even added to it. I hear about this happening to women all the time but that was the first time for me. I actually had them go over it with me a second time nodding my head and thanked them for their concern for my safety, asked for the estimate and said I would call very soon to make an appointment. First I needed to find the money I had two other people check the estimate and confirm that I do not need the work. Their estimated price was much higher than what theirs would be. This next part may very well be a coincidence , but...My windshield wiper fluid was empty. Kindly they filled it without me asking. When I tried cleaning my windshield, I found that the driver wiper nozzle wasn't working. I replaced that but found that the fittings on both nozzles that securely fasten the system were not there. It came to my attention when I tested out the broken side. Needless to say the pressure of the fluid pushed the hose apart from the nozzle and sprayed away... uncontrollably. I felt like Tawny Kitaen in the White snake video, only on the wrong side of the hood with a parka on. Again, that could have happened to anyone. I'm Just saying. Trust is earned, not cool. Rarely do I put reviews on Yelp, but the service at the Lawrenceville Midas was so outstanding I just wanted the greater community to know. I came in for a quick need, my BMW X5 coolant alarm went on that it was dangerously low. BMWs do that sometimes without warning which is a fun thing to deal with. Dakota at Midas told me immediately that unfortunately it wasn't coolant that they deal with since BMW is very specific, but he helpfully mapped on my phone where I could get the proper coolant on a late Sunday afternoon. I came back, and he kindly cautioned me to wait for the engine cool down first and then showed me how to put the coolant in. In the waiting area were several very satisfied customers and just such an amazing vibe among the workers. I went to Midas because the place I liked closed. My brakes were making noise that sounded like my ABS but all the time. After an hour & a half they took it for a test drive and told me I needed calipers. 3 hours later it was done, and I paid them. They told me AFTERWARD that they didn't fix what I came for and never showed me the old calipers. I think this is dishonest; my car is 17 years old, so it could have used anything, but they never told me they weren't working on the problem until after I paid them - then they wanted me to make an appointment to get a new axle and whatever to fix the problem I went there for. My 2018 Jeep was having battery issues and needed to be towed. I went through my insurance company and they thought it should go to Auto zone. They kept my car for hours before telling me they couldn't help. My car was then towed to Midas. Dakota called me immediately and let me know what I needed. He tried for hours to get a battery for me, with no luck unfortunately. My car had a battery from the dealer that could not be bought anywhere but a dealer. Dakota went above and beyond anyone doing this job would. He then put my car back together and I picked it up. I will never go to this Midas again! Its under new ownership. The last manager was incredible, the staff were effective and kind. Under the new owner this place is a nightmare. The staff was obviously intoxicated. I actually saw two employees sharing a blunt. I don't care if people drink or whatever, but when operating heavy machinery to fix heavy machinery? Hell no. In one appointment over a decade of trust disappeared and I was glad to escape after waiting all afternoon for a simple oil change. I'll never use this service facility again! read more

Jay inspected the entire car, showed me the issues that needed to be addressed right away and what I should keep an eye on in the future. I dropped my car off to get my brakes changed. Took 27 hours. I have a jeep. They said when they were changing the brakes, someone opened the passenger door which engaged a mechanism that caused the caliber to break. They had to rebuild it and something else happened to the piston. They said this is common knowledge of jeeps and apologized. After 27 hours I picked up my car. Within one hour a light came on to have my 4 wheel drive serviced. My husband and I have contacted the regional manager and corporate over 8 times. Everyone says they will call back in 48-72 hours. It's been over 3 weeks. The light is still on. Now I just went to start my car and it won't start. Id appreciate a call back and my car fixed. I have a 3 and 5 year old that drive in my car daily. This is unacceptable. In 5 days I have to drive over 2 hours in my car, to a sleep away camp I volunteer at every summer, as a nurse for kids with cancer. How am I going to get there? Or do I tell them last minute that I do not have a car and that the kids assigned to me, will not have a nurse? read more

At other places I've left feeling ripped off. Not here. Gene has helped me out of a lot of jams, and I he treats everyone in there as if their car was his own. So after going back to the same place twice to get my girlfriends tires balanced and an alignment everything was still off so we went here. The manager and his staff went above and beyond tohelp her and get the job done right the first time. I then asked if he could put a tire on a new rim for my truck expecting a normal charge for this. We went in last Saturday around lunch time. Our car, a Nissan Rogue 2012, was making a rattling noise we couldn't explain. The mechanic knew our make and model well and knew the issues that most commonly arise with it. He checked the differentiator fluid right away and then a couple of other things. He was extremely professional, clearly knew his stuff cold, and was very kind to give us pointers and advice while working. He knew our tires take nitrogen. He found a nail in one of our tires and patched it up. He ran a full electronic diagnostic at the end and gave us a clean bill of health. He also drove around the parking lot with us to ensure the noise was gone and everything was working smoothly. The whole thing cost $35. An excellent experience. If we have any issues again, we would most definitely return, as this was a 100% trustworthy person. read more

I have had my two cars (Toyota and Honda) served by MIDAS in Lawrenceville for many years and am never disappointed. The managers Gene and Johnny, and technician Dave are true professionals. They are always honest and straightforward with my repair needs. In recent days, my wife's Honda had bumpy noise at the bottom front. Walking into the shop, I thought it had worn-out front ball joints and lo control arm, which would easily cost $1,000 to repair at Pep Boys. Just like in the past, I asked Johnny to have Dave inspect the car. Upon inspection, Dave quickly pointed out that the noise problem was actually resulted from a loose bolt close to the right lower ball point and one metal heat shield fell off on one side. It was a very quick fix and took Dave no more than 15 minutes. I was not charged by Johnny for the service. MIDAS in Lawrenceville is a small shop and does not have a big front presence on Route 1, like Pep Boys. I came without appointment. My exhaust pipe had holes. The staff welded promptly my exhaust pipe at a fair price instead of requesting I will buy a new one. Their honest behavior saved me a lot of money. The Firestone store at the Quaker Bridge mall had given me a price quotation significantly much higher for the same service earlier that day. Their price quotation was higher than the residual value of my car! The Firestone Manager said I needed to have the entire exhaust pipe changed. It could not be welded because of the size and the number of holes.... Thanks to the professional service at Midas, my car was able to go successfully through the NJ car inspection. In the lobby, Midas had a wide selection of magazine. I was also able to charge my cell phone. It was free and easy to park. We will definitely come back to this Midas for any car service I need on my car. I can't recommend this Midas highly enough. read more

Set up an appointment online for 8am to have them look at a noisy heat shield rattle that the Mazda dealer was going to charge me $220 to remove the heat shield. Midas took my car in as soon as I got there at 7:50am and I was out of there by 8:05am. They put the car up on the lift, secured the heat shield and had it ready to go 15 minutes later FREE OF CHARGE. Amazing service. They certainly earned a new customer. I went into this Midas for the first time this weekend when I needed to get my exhaust system fixed on my car. My exhaust pipe had broken and my car sounded horrible. The week before I went to a different car repair shop where they looked at it, gave me a quote and then recommended that I go to Midas as it could be quite a bit cheaper. Indeed they were correct, the repair was $300 cheaper at Midas and they even offered another option at half the price,. The staff didn't push the more expensive repair and helped me make an informed decison, although after some googling the more expensive repair made more sense in the long run. In less than 2 hours my car was back and sounding good as new. What really surprised me though was that for a "chain shop", the clientele seemed well established and very well taken care of. I was really surprised when most of the customers I saw while I was there knew the staff quite well and had a long history coming to this location. They knew about their kids, jobs, other cars, it was quite impressive for a chain shop. Most seemed really happy with the work, and one woman stated it directly to them that she loved the place. I would say the staff was incredibly friendly , knowledgeable and helpful. It was clear that they weren't looking to pump all the money out of them. While I was only there for fixing my exhaust, for which they are well known apparently, I will definitely check them out in he future for other needs. read more

"Check Engine" light was on and Midas diagnosed the cause with a free computer hook-up. Then came the estimate! Over $900! The mark-up on the part to remedy the problem was 3.5 times the car brand dealers quote, a difference of about $350! Additionally, spark plug replacement and fuel induction service were recommended which were not required since the 100,000 mile rated plugs had previously been replaced when the car recently accumulated 100,000 miles and were not fouled, and fuel induction service had been recently performed. This added another $250 to the cost and once again, the price of parts was significantly marked up . The required maintenance was performed by a mechanic from the car brand dealership. The car was fixed by a dealership mechanic for about $200, a savings of over $700! Consumers beware and be aware! read more

Made an appointment and they found a screw in my tire. Explained to me that they wouldn't patch it for me. I also was told my rear tires were extremely underrated for my car and I needed to do something about that. When quoted a price for two new tires on my 2011 Sedan I was told $359. I know I had them cheaper elsewhere so I asked for the cheapest tire and they told me $259 for two. I was stunned. I took my car to Mavis Discount Tire and the price was $72 for each tire. They actually looked at my tire and said it was definitely pluggable. I left paying only $15. They also told me my tires are rated a 7/10 and all of my tires are 8/10 as far as tread and use currently. Staff at Midas was nice, but definitely felt I was getting a rip off on prices. read more

Midas performed great service on my 2008 Pontiac G6 at an honest price. We went to Midas to get new tires and to replace a muffler. Replacing the muffler involved cutting around the catalytic converter. Midas was very honest in that the first price they quoted included the price to replace the catalytic converter in case they had to. However, the workers were able to save that part (and another part) causing a very significant drop in price from the initial quote. In summary, the workers here are honest about the prices up front and do great work. read more
