Dan and his team were incredibly kind and helpful during a stressful situation. After an oil change in New York, I drove to Virginia and noticed smoke while idling. When I arrived, there was oil all over the back of my car. Another shop down the road told me I had a major oil leak and couldn't help. I then went to Midas, where Dan quickly found the issue--a loose drain plug--cleaned everything up, and refilled my oil. There was no leak at all. Called a few hours after my missed appointment to reschedule a state inspection. They were very understanding and made no issue with having me seen the next morning, got in early and was out in 20 minutes. Had a bulb that was blown, a notorious issue for my specific make/model, would have failed if i didn't have the spare on hand. Was able to get it installed with no fuss. These people are a piece of work, I have never seen such liars and cheats. I used them as they are an installer for tire rack. The first vehicle I brought to them they said I needed a new cabin air filter and a transmission service - this vehicle does not have a cabin air filter and the transmission had just been done. The next vehicle did not have a cabin air filter either and they said it needed to be replaced. They also said that the truck needed new ball joints. I asked how they made this determination and they said that the grease cups were missing from the ball joints. and they needed to be replaced. I informed them that the truck does not have ball joints that it has king pins. $2300.00 to replace "ball joints" that don't exist. Then I took another car to them for tires. I asked them to inspect it as it needed to be done. They failed the inspection for the freaking fan belt. I fan belt is not a disqualifier for a safety inspection. They also said that I needed new sway bar bushings. I refused to let them do this work as they quoted me a price of over $800.00. Took it to another shop and was told the only thing wrong with the car was the struts. Avoid Midas, they are not trustworthy and their minimum wage morons cannot tell the difference between a ball joint and a king pin. read more

I have taken 2 cars here for inspections and they failed both. I had an appt this last time. No one else waiting and 3 mechanics there it took an 11/2 for me to get my car just to fail it. Will never go back and never recommend this to anyone. DONT TAKE YOUR Car THERE!! EVER!! read more

Super friendly and helpful service!!!, my family got stuck in the middle of a road trip here with our dog and baby, and they were super quick to help us, made us feel comfortable, even hooked up my pup with a bowl of water and gave us some drinks to cool off! They doubled up guys on our vehicle to get us back on the road as quickly as possible. It was a terribly expensive repair and they tried their best to avoid the cost but all things considered a great experience. If we were local we'd certainly come back! read more

We have now gone to this Midas at least 7 times for oil changes. (I went to this one because it is close to our house). I give regularly to the blood drives and came in with the coupon. We are routinely treated like we aren't a part of the "club" that the gentleman who runs the front of house. There are people who he talks to like they are his best friends and they routinely get better service. Today my husband made an appointment for 8am. We showed up at 8:02. He asked us to wait on him finishing the paperwork for a guy who dropped off his car and then left, and then he proceeded to answer the phone and talk to whomever was on the other line while we waited. Mind you we had an appointment and a less than two minute check in, but he couldn't be bothered to actually check us in. We waited for 20 minutes and left. Midas, with all the community appreciation and treating women better, you need a different manager, and one that can multi task. Oh and also one of the last times I was there to get things fixed, he actually was nice and showed me everything I needed to know, but I believe that was because another manager (blonde woman, is she Mark Smith's wife? Stopped in and made an appointment for a simple state inspection. They said they could do it at 10:00 am on Monday. I was there at 9:45. Almost 10 mins before anyone even acknowledged my presence, that should have been a notice. At 10:45 my truck was still sitting and I was still waiting. They are worse than a Doctors office. There is a reason they call it an appointment.. left went down the street had in inspection done. I need to follow up on this review, after I left this on Monday I received a phone call from the Richmond area GM, a Mr. Krueger. Wow, Midas you got a winner with this guy. As someone who ran businesses for years I know how important customer service is, his phone call was apologetic and sincere. He gave me his personal phone number and asked for another opportunity. Came in on a Saturday with no appt for an oil change. Waited approx 30 min before they pulled my car in. Lady at front desk was very nice. I was the only one waiting so I could watch whatever I wanted on the TV. They had free water as well. Free wifi, just ask for the password. Plenty of space to pull in and park. read more

I ALWAYS come to Midas when my car is acting up. They are quick, 99% of the time they have same day appointments and walk in availability, no deception and they always give you options. I found in Midas after getting manipulated at the car dealership over and over again. Midas only recommends what is absolutely important and won't shake you down. What prompted this review? I came in with a little hole in my tire. They patched it up for a couple bucks- an entire week later I called them and said the same wheel was giving me trouble. I was certain they were going to try and charge me for a new tire and the run around but- much to my surprise- they fixed the problem without charging me a dime. Brought my grandmas car in for its state inspection. Keep in mind this car is 10 years old and doesn't even have 50k miles on it. I just started driving it last year for work. Everything seemed fine. Told them I would drop the car off and pick up once finished. I get a call maybe one hour later saying I need $1650+ worth of repairs for the state inspection to pass. They claimed the motor mount needed to be replaced and that the struts on one side were blown. I didn't even argue with them on the phone, just went and picked up the car. A few days later I drop it off at another shop. They tell me the motor mount does indeed need replacing but the struts are completely fine. Their price? Roughly $450. Midas was going to knowingly overcharge me $1200 for repairs I didn't need. Their scam has been unearthed. They tried the same crap with my mom a couple of months back. If you want to be treated with respect and not taken advantage of, take your business elsewhere. I would recommend Leete Tire and Auto on Crater Road. I made an appointment on line and showed up and clerk said she could not find it in her computer, period. No apology for the company and no willingness to try to fit me in. Just blank stare. Ieft the car anyway since it did not seem busy and came back Just prior to closing. Had not made Any effort to inspect the vehicle. Requested my keys back and she went in garage bay for some reason before Just dropping keys on counter. Xtill unfriendly and unapologetic. This place rips you off for unnecessary repairs. Last June i went there for an inpection. Of course they rejected me for bad shocks and struts, cv axle, and one other things i don't remember. They said I needed $2300 in repairs to pass inspection. The cv axle was going bad but I heard from an expert that is not a rejectable problem. They said the shock and struts were leaking, but that is not a rejectable problem. so i took it somewhere else and passed easily. I later took care of the cv axle. But, recently i went ahead and did the shocks and struts at a much more affordable amount. The guy who did it said the shocks and struts were perfectly fine and not leaking. Then I took it to a shock and strut man to show them the shock and struts I had replaced. This mechanic with many years of experience said that it was nothing wrong with them and they were perfectly fine. I am debating whether I should take them to the state police and have them look at them since they oversee inspections. This issue cost me a lot of time and money that I did not need to spend. Shops make a ton of money on shock and struts repairs so they try fail you on them. read more

Got my inspection done there. They were very kind and professional. My wipers were torn, so they allowed me to buy new ones and replace them on the spot for a passing sticker. But when I brought them, the inspector ended up replacing them for me before I had a chance to even read the directions. I've never had someone do that for me! I'm so grateful! read more

How are there no reviews for this place? I have been to this Midas about 6 times, usually for "free" oil changes after giving blood, but I have also paid for work here as well. I have never had a good experience. I got new front brakes a few years ago and was charged $750. 2 years later they needed to be replaced and a MUCH better shop down the street did the same repair for $220. Huh. As far as the "free" oil changes, the manager, in my experiences, was reluctant to honor them without either trying to upsell another service (I get that it's part of the business), or making an uncomfortable comment about "giving away stuff for free all the time." HEY, don't offer something for "free" and then complain about it. I give blood regularly (8+ gallons), but now I just go to the blood center. The "free" oil change isn't worth it. I also made the mistake of getting a Virginia inspection here once. Of course they decided that my wipers needed replacing (that were only a few months old and worked perfectly), and charged me something like $30 for $12 worth of parts. The manager didn't even tell me first. I told him that I would have liked to have known before he replaced them since I could have just walked to the parts store next door and done it myself (as if they even needed replacing). He said "hey, somebody's gotta' put my kid through college." Not even a little bit funny, dude. The icing on the cake? TWICE I also asked for a tire rotation and marked the tires (took a valve cap off of one of the the stems) and they didn't even rotate the tires - but charged me for it. When I confronted the manager he said they were "too busy" that day for a tire rotation but I could come back to have it done. Say what? Bad service. I will never go back. read more

I know the staff there must get frustrated at times or maybe they're even the brunt of customer's frustration but I've never seen that from the staff. They are always friendly and professional. My fiancée and I experienced car trouble on our way to Washington DC on Christmas weekend. We stopped in Colonial Heights, Virginia at Midas in order to have our car checked. Jason, Roland, and his team were able to get us in quickly, and diagnose the issue. They found that our car had lost most of the transmission fluid due to a seal breaking on the CV joint. The team fixed the issue and were able to get us back on the road in a timely manner. This was an extremely busy day for their business, but they were very helpful.
