Even though they were priced $30 more than what I had quoted at another place I chose to go to Midas because of Hussein. I was a customer at this location for the last 15 years. 6 managers and 4 cars. This latest management team needs to be fired. I had my car towed the day after Thanksgiving. The only thing my car needed was a battery. 10 days later, after repeatedly calling, I was rudely told, "yeah your car is ready, I tried calling you". No you didn't. I had an appointment in order to have the airmatic system on my 2014 Mercedes GL450 inspected because my vehicle was sitting low in the rear and driving extremely bumpy. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Angel, one of the managers. He was very courteous and personable. His customer service stood out to me both in person and over the phone. I told him that this type of excellent customer service is very rare these days. Omar another manager and service technician, performed a thorough inspection of my vehicle and determined two possible causes of the issue. Omar took his time and explained everything to me in great detail as well as answered my questions. He was professional and friendly. Fumes were blowing inside my car whenever I turned on the defrost. I explained this to them. They told me there were no leaks, and they put a larger clamp over an already clamped hose. I left, and the problem persisted . I went to Jiffy Lube, and they found the leak. There was a crack in the coolant reservoir ... Smh read more

On 5/26/20 I receive a call from an unknown number. I left a few bad reviews for this Midas location and received a call from the employee who was rude and argumentative with me about them not doing the work to my car. He calls and tries to bully me into being rude back to him and keeps trying to over talk me and repeat "this is a recorded line". I hung up because he has repeatedly shown he is rude and not able to do timely work. When I called corporate about him I would think they would not send the rude person that I had my awful no serviced experience with. This shop is totally unprofessional. I left my car on a Sunday night so that Midas had it first thing on Monday morning. I called ahead of time to let them know I was bringing it in. It Monday late afternoon and I still don't get a call about what is wrong with it. I called several times to get an update and was not given one. The next day Tuesday I call at 11am for an update or to get a diagnosis. I am told someone would call me back in a few minutes. At 1:45 I call to get an update since no one called me. They have still not diagnosed my car and now it will be two days in their shop and I don't know if it will be finished by Weds. I am in need of my car getting back to me since I am a parent and have to pick up my kids from school. This is bad customer service and the worst part is that no diagnoses or time frame has been given to me after almost two days in their shop. I have had to call them multiple times each day to see what is wrong with my car and they said it was because the mechanic on Monday didn't know what they were doing so a new mechanic is looking at it today. read more

After the earnest attempt by a MIdas, down the street from this place, to RIP ME OFF, I drove further south on Western, and came up to this place. After calling them ahead and reading off the estimate from the other Midas, I was told it would cost 153.00. WAIT! over 100.00 cheaper than the other place??? COME ON! NO BRAINER. After going here, Nate told me to have a sit down and relax and they would get me out of there as soon as possible. I asked Nate if he could replace my headlight bulb too, since I already had the replacement bulb. He said it'd be about $10. An hour later, Nate told me I was all set. As I go to pay, I looked at the receipt and noticed he didn't charge me to put the bulb in. I said, waaaait, you didn't charge me for the light? He said, nah, it's no problem. I was like, thanks soooo much. GREAT customer service and equally great prices. This is my go to Midas! I don't care how far it is from my house!! read more

Stopped in to the shop this morning with my car, which had been making a rubbing/grinding noise in the rear wheels whenever I came to a stop. The owner, Nate, smiled and greeted me as I walked in. He was professional and very pleasant and informed me that they would find the problem and give me a call as soon as possible. I left and went home. Nate called me about 30 minutes later, told me what was wrong, the cost of the repairs and what time the car would be ready. The price was reasonable and I was able to bring the car home within a couple of hours. From start to finish, the whole process was painless. A really smooth interaction that barely took up any of my day. I'm impressed. I'll definitely be back. read more

We had to bring our car back because they seemed to have missed something (they're only human), but they fixed this second issue right away, and without charge. Everything has been fine since. I recommend them. They're also very quick and accommodating. This is the epitome of customer service and attentive management. I can not list how many times Nate and the people at this Midas have come to our aid and have done complete, thorough work on all our vehicles. We have been stalled with dead batteries, wheels about to fall off, and major malfunctions and they have repeatedly exceeded our expectations. Our vehicles have 157,000 and 148,000 miles respectively and they run like champs due to correct diagnosis, cost estimate, and efficient repair. First and last time at this one. I arrived at 2 or so for what was supposed to be a 30 min inspection. An hour later i got diagnosis being told that it would be an hour for the brake job TOPS. Accepting this, i agreeed to have the brakes done figuring i would still have a half hour to drive to pick up son from daycare before they close. I end up walking (6or 7 blocks each way) at 5:05 my car still wasnt done. No issue with anything other than the misdirect which created late charges at the daycare. If they would have told me "2-3 hours max start to finish" i could have planned accordingly. read more

I heard my brakes grinding today so I Yelped local places and this Midas came up. I took it in and they got to work on the brakes right away. Before doing any work the owner took me in so I could see exactly what was wrong and what they would replace. He was extremely kind and friendly. After they replaced the routers (might have spelled that wrong) and brake pads, he took me back in to show me what they had done before they put my wheels back on. The cost was more than I expected (I'm not a knowledgeable car girl) but after talking to my dad on the phone he assured me the price was reasonable. Plus the brakes have a lifetime warranty. Now that the warranty on my car has run out and I no longer have to go to the dealership I will go back here for everything. They were friendly, knowledge, and didn't try to rip me off. I've frequented Midas since I was in high school and bought my first car. My first trip to this Midas was a GIANT waste of time. I made a reservation online for an oil change and filled in all of my car information (make, model, etc.). My reservation was confirmed via email and I thought I was all set. I show up to the shop for my confirmed time and the second I walk in and give my vehicle information, I'm told there are no filters available for my car to change the oil and that I'd have to wait a few hours for the filter to be sent in. Someone needs to explain to me the point of making the reservation online and PRE filling in my car information if it's not going to be used. Midas had my information beforehand, I don't understand why they weren't prepared for me and thought it was okay to ask me to wait 3 hours. Annoyed. read more

UPDATED REVIEW TO CONFORM TO YELP'S CONTENT GUIDELINES. IF YOU ARE A FEMALE, STAY FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! On April 29, 2016, my mother and I took her car in for an estimate for a pipe replacement. (My brother told US she had a hole in her pipe, and her muffler was fine.) After the 'mechanic' diagnosed it, he handed me an estimate for $861.00 which includes a$37.00 senior discount to replace the catalytic converter on her car. (Yes, I can provide a copy of the estimate with an incorrect diagnosis.) Manager stated, if she didn't replace her catalytic converter immediately, she would not pass the state's emission test. While going over the written estimate and hearing his b.s., another female customer arrived complaining about 'this being the third time she had to return her car because the light will not turn off." Male employee stated he needed to charge her, again, to look at it. Shocked, she said, "I have to pay you again for the same service, I already paid for! Are you kidding!?" Immediately, WE left and called Car X Muffler Shop located at 11203 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60628 for an appointment. Within 20 minutes, WE were at Car X to have her car diagnosed and examined by a fully-qualified mechanic. Diagnosis? Hole in the pipe leading to the muffler. Catalytic converter in excellent condition. Cost including a full oil change was $186.00! Mechanic looked at Midas' estimation and stated, "I'm not sure what they diagnosed, but it wasn't your car. You don't need the stuff they wanted to charge you." (Yes, I can provide a copy of Midas' estimate with an incorrect diagnosis.) Years ago, my mother AND I took her car to Midas, yep, same one, for new breaks. Well, they installed breaks, that loudly squeaked. Next day, WE called Midas to complain. Manager stated there wasn't anything he could do about it. Immediately, I called Corporate to complain about the squeaking brakes on her car and the manager's refusal to repair HIS work. Next day, Area/District Manager met US at the shop, reprimanded the manager about shoddy business practices. Manager stated, "We didn't have the type of brakes to fix her car." Ticked off, DM demanded they immediately repair her car brakes correctly. They did and WE left. So, no, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone...especially a female! read more

MIdas claims to be the "one stop shop for brakes" so of course when my 2012 Chrystler 200 needed new brake pads for the first time, I thought I'd give them a shot. Well, not only did my new brakes squeak more than the older ones, but they also began to grind when I stopped. I notified the manager who assured me they'll fix the problem. I was later told the rotary froze and it'll take a couple of hours to fix. After a few days everything appeared to fine until that annoying squealing noise came back. This time the manager refunded me my money $218.00 since they failed to take the time to fix the problem. I am convinced that these workers do not have a clue about what they are doing. My advice is to take your car to the dealership or it may cost you more money in the end. It was suggested that I should try a different Midas.. but in my opinion...ONE ROTTEN APPLE SPOILS THE WHOLE BUNCH!!! read more

After having my truck for 5 days longer than the estimated time for a brake job and wheel bearing, I drove 2 blocks and had the wheel come off! It rolled into oncoming traffic and hit 2 cars. I had it towed back to their shop where they came up with several excuses as to why it wasn't their fault. They said the differential must've locked up or the lug nuts were worn. Just insulting my intelligence. They eventually got me a new wheel but acted like they were doing me a favor the whole time. Avoid this place like the plague. Support small business. read more

I bought a Livingsocial Deal for an oil change, Tire rotation and 71 point maintenance package and inspection for 20.00 bucks (a 95.00 retail value) from Midas and they specify which shops you can go to. Sounds like a good deal right?? Well... the Midas closest to me that was on the list is on 10200 S Western. Problem was Every time I went there as soon as the manager (Nate) found out I had the Livingsocial deal he told me it would be a 2-3 hour wait so I said can I make an appt. he says no. Now I went there on different days and always the same answer, so I went there on a Sat. morning as soon as they opened at 8 am and guess what he tells me again a 2-3 hour wait even though there were no cars there. I asked why the wait when I'm the only one here and get this, he says he has cars coming in. I said how when you told me I couldn't make an appointment? He gave me some Bullshit excuse. I told him this is unacceptable to me who the hell has 2-3 hours to sit around to get there oil changed?! I'm sure he figures since I already paid that I would just wait or say fuck it and leave and that way he gets 20 bucks for doing nothing! And I'm sure I'm not the only one he did this too. Needless to say my deal has expired and I called to see if I can still use it and just pay the difference seeing as how I tried several times to use it and wasn't able to, the Manager who name is Nate told me NO. So instead of arguing with him I just hung up and called livingsocial and explained to them the situation. They gave me a credit to my account without any hassle and also an extra 10 bucks for my trouble. so no problem with living social just with the Midas on 10200 S Western. I only gave this business one star because I had to select something. Where do I begin. We started with this business on last year. They serviced our first car and then we brought in our second car. Since last year up until now we have taken our cars back every week swapping out cars because we could not be without a car. We've spent thousands on these cars to be fixed brake jobs, rotors, all kinds of stuff that I can't even remember all the work we had done they had our car so long that if I add up all the weeks we've gone back & forth it's been over 5 months. How do you get a brake job but not only still hear grinding but the wheel is wobbly and shaky and we had a wheel alignment. We've had so much work done that's still not fixed and every time we've taken our car in it's a new issue a week later. I've never had to bring in my car EVERY WEEK to a mechanic before, but at this point we want our money back because I'd rather they just tell us that they have no clue what they are doing what so ever. I'll go to CarX across the street. Silly us to trying over & over again and giving them chance after chance and still cars are not working right. read more

There are 3 other auto service centers within a block,I would go to one of those before giving Midas a try. I went there because I had a living social deal for an oil change, tire rotation and vehicle inspection. The deal turns out to be their standard price because you have to pay extra for things that normally come with and oil change, such as topping off your fluids. The also wouldn't confirm if my tires would be rotated, stating that it depends on the condition of the tires???They got a bad review due to their customer service. There are other auto centers that perform the same services, so why not give your money to the one that offers great customer service. The guy at the front desk was really rude and dismissive for no reason and when the technician handed me my keys he looked at me suspiciously and didn't say a word. That made me nervous to even drive my car home. Did he do something wrong while he was working on my car? I don't even know if they rotated my tires. It didn't show up as a service on the invoice and I received no feedback from them after they handed me my keys and I had enough of that rude guy to ask questions. Anyway, I won't go there again, even though their prices are really low. I spend a lot of time driving my car and I want to feel as safe as can be. Midas didn't give me that feeling. read more
