Consultation was easy and quick with Dr Mazdey. The scan cost was a bit of a surprise but not unreasonable. On my root canal visit, I waited around 30 minutes but it was late in the day so some delays probably add up throughout the afternoon. Once seen, the procedure seemed very thorough over 65-75 minutes. I was impressed with the level of detail they seemed to take. Pain was gone completely and it was effective. The procedure is difficult if you can't open your mouth very wide like me. Overall, I'm very happy with the result and experience. The office is organized and very clean. I went in for a root canal and was seen by Dr. Schaff (I'm probably misspelling his name - he's young and tall). The office got me scheduled within 2-3 business days and the doctor did an excellent job. I felt no pain during the procedure once the Novocain was given and I have no tooth/jaw pain 24 hours after the procedure. They also called to see how I was doing today, which was a nice touch. The way the doctor spoke to me was entitled and rude, this clown thought he was going to give me a lecture and a training session: all I wanted was the root canal I came in for. They said I won't be getting a root canal, only a consult. The original office experience was simple, but bad times with the creepy doctor. He just wanted to argue and try and shame. My first visit there they charged me $200 co-pay for a 3D scan that they said my insurance doesn't cover although they already had X-rays. Booked a root canal with Dr Mazdey and was very impressed by his work and the attentiveness of his staff. Scheduling was easy, the front office was helpful and knowledgeable. I was nervous about this procedure because I've had bad dental experiences in the past. Dr Mazdey listened to my concerns and suggested a great treatment plan that accommodated my issues. The treatment went as planned. I was in and out in about 75 mins. Apparently the shape of my root canals made the procedure more difficult than some others. But it was successful and not painful. I got a root canal done by Maria. I had been in the most unbearable pain due to me needing a root canal. When I originally scheduled they told me I would have to wait a week, but thankfully the girl at the front desk was so nice enough to see that I was in so much pain that she called me the next day and told me someone cancelled. Thankfully they were able to get me in that same week. The only down side of it all was that I had to pay cash, my procedure was about 1,400 with no crown included, but it was so worth it. Awful experience with this place. I went in for a consultation and they seemed to disregard my main concern. I expressed my concern of pain coming from my wisdom tooth and a chipped molar. Instead of them addressing the issue, they proceeded with a root canal. I'm aware of the need of a root canal, but they could've instead advised of other options if they knew a root canal wouldn't fix my issue. They proceeded with a root canal which maxed out my insurance for the year, I'm now stuck having to pay out of pocket for a crown that is needed. I still have a chipped molar, and pain in both my wisdom teeth. I called about the pain and all they could say was I still needed another root canal. Stay away from this place. read more

My 8 year old needed a root canal & they said laughing gas was $500, the procedure itself was $600! I asked why it was so much money, almost the same price as the procedure, when I've NEVER paid that much between both my kids and lots of dental work and every time they have laughing gas to make them more relaxed and not so scared! Their answer was it's expensive to get to the office! I refused to pay that much he then proceeded to do her numbing shots without putting numbing jelly in the area first! This is for Rob Imani, DDS. I came in for a root canal due to an infected nerve. The pain from the infected nerve on my molar has been difficult to deal with- even with pain medication. Imani never introduced himself nor bothered to come to the front of the dentist chair so I can see him face to face. He was rash and quick to speak. Once the procedure started via numbing agent- my anxiety flared up to the point I started to shake and cry. (Mainly because one of the injections hit right where the source of my pain has been.) I verbally told Imani I was anxious and scared for a negative outcome ...as the pain has been unbearable. Imani did not care. Simply dismissed my concern. Actually it was the assistant who took it upon herself to offer me tissues and water. The whole procedure I spent sobbing quietly. Being my first time at this doctors office and finding Dr. Mazdey through Yelp, I was very skeptical of what I was getting myself into. I originally went to a specialist in Beverly Hills seeking phenomenal treatment and wanted a second opinion. Dr. Mazdey's reviews seemed to pinpoint what I was looking for and I could not be happier! A root canal retreat is what I needed (not a thrilling thought). My first appointment was a usual... Hi nice to meet you , nice to meet you, exam, X-ray... explanation/recommendation and I'll tell you, I was initially a bit intimidated by the specialist because he's really direct on what's going on and I'm so used to trying to be sold on something..., beating around the bush..., you know... BS... A little more skeptical these days. Dr. Mazdey doesn't have to do that, because he actually knows what he's talking about! I went in thinking I knew more than the specialist! Not to mention I was in pain following the procedure, I mean who wouldn't be in that much pain, with an infection, after waiting so long to see a specialist in the first place! Not only was it after hours on a day the office is not open but the operator was able to contact the specialist and have him call me immediately! The doctor thoroughly explained why the pain was there, put me at ease (hypochondriac here), put in a prescription directly to my pharmacy (only as a just in case we really need a second antibiotics), all on an off day, I could tell he was definitely busy, all this in less than an hour! Today I saw my regular dentist, who by the way has no correlation to Dr. Mazdey, who has confirmed my tooth is saved and in phenomenal condition. No pain, of course. Very very happy! This review doesn't reflect Dr Mazdey, but the operation and communication of staff. During scheduling of the initial appointment, was placed on hold for 25mins. Another young lady picked up the phone and didn't know I had already gave all my information including confirmed appointment with the previous person. Went through all of it again with her. The medical offices are located within an area that does not permit parking on the streets during their business hours unless by permit. Only parking to access their offices is paid parking, although validated. Issue with their operation was at no point during the scheduling, confirming and reminder of appointment is this mentioned. Furthermore, this lot is full on a regular basis due to lack of public parking. Left my car in a unpermitted area to check in with the office, and asked if they knew where around the area has permitted parking. Response " we don't know, you can just drive around the area and walk back, we'll check you in ". Multiple patients complained about the same thing, they walked blocks to reach the office. None of them like myself were notified beforehand of their parking issue. Honestly I wouldn't have driven 75 mins on a referral had I known this. Word of advice, get you operation and communication together. Customers should be notified in advance of your issue. Do some recon of the area and have a map to send customers of potential areas where parking IS PERMITTED and might be available. Or better yet, instead of validating parking for customers who could give 2 shits about it, reserve parking based on your patient traffic like most business do . I also would advise since this office absolutely runs behind and overbooks, all new patients should have paperwork emailed if possible in advance. So documentation can be done ahead of time instead of the office. I walked out and you will never get a dime of my business. I have also communicated to my regular dentist to remove your office from referrals, it's clear to us you aren't prepared for it. read more

I was nervous about getting a root canal, as anyone would be, but Yesenia in the front office was warm and friendly, arranged for me to be seen early, and remembered who I was from our phone call. Dr. Chang, and nurse Mary also quickly put me at ease. They are true professionals who constantly made sure I was okay before, during, and after the procedure. Dr. Chang thoroughly explained the process and answered any questions I had. He clearly wanted to make sure I was never in any discomfort, physically or emotionally. Hello, I recently received contact from Credit Karma informing me dentist Dr. Afshin Mazdeyasnan (Mazdey) has sent me to collections for a root canal procedure that took place in August of 2016 that was covered and supposed to be paid for by my dental insurance company. At the time, the office had confirmed I had valid coverage before the procedure was initiated. I have contacted the office multiple times and they have not been able to provide me with any information regarding this incident. They refuse to give me any assistance in clearing up this matter and have repeatedly said the Doctor was busy, away, not in the office, or on vacation. I have asked if the Doctor was licensed to practice and what agency provided the licensing. All that I'm told is that the Doctor is in fact licensed but they would not give me any information on the agency or what recourse I could take if they could not help me. I have since changed dentists and my current dentist informed me that a root canal is a common procedure and that he believed Dr. Afshin Mazdeyasnan (Mazdey) was being shady and unethical for trying to collect twice on a single procedure and that I should file a malpractice complaint. Don't fall victim to extortion. Just had a root canal with Dr. Mazdey. I was nervous I won't lie. It was my first one. I gotta say, pain free! I literally felt nothing. I took a few Advil after as suggested and felt fine. I'm on day 2 post root canal and literally have no pain. ***The only thing that annoyed me was nobody informed me I would be getting a temporary filling & had to go back to my original dentist to finish the job. My dentist is to blame as well. That annoyed me since now my regular isn't available for 2 weeks. It's fine since I have 4 weeks to get my permanent filling but it would of been sure nice to know. I'd put zero stars if possible for Dr. Mazdey. What a joke of an endodontist. He's so rough while injecting lidocaine. I have a decent pain tolerance and when my dentist injects lidocaine I don't even feel it. The bigger problem here is that I went in for a root canal, it was the worst dental experience of my life. After 50 minutes of crushing my lips and choking on fluids, he finally says we are done. They shot my final X-ray and I went home. Not 40 minutes later I get a call from his office saying he missed something on the X-ray and I need to come in for another 45 minute root canal. Are you kidding me? How lazy/arrogant/inept do you have to be to read the X-ray wrong? To waste my time, my gas and have to schedule the redo root canal on my birthday cause it's the only day YOUR office could accommodate me; it's inexcusable. Then when I go back, he's barely apologetic. No sympathy for putting through so much pain and discomfort a second time. He is a serious POS. I will never be a patient at mid valley Endodontics again. I don't know if Dr. Mazdey treats men any better but I felt he was very dismissive of my concerns I went there for a CT scan to diagnose a cracked tooth; after he charged me for it , he told me you can't tell from a CT if a tooth is cracked and he scheduled me for a root canal (my third on the same tooth). He told me very dismissively that "next time I should go to an expert in the first place". Well, here I sit 6 months later with an overwhelming infection in that same tooth (because it was cracked and needed to come out) and I have been very ill with it for a month before I realized it was a tooth making me so sick. To add insult to injury I had to pay over 800.00 dollars up front and was told I would be reimbursed for what insurance paid after the insurance payment came in Of course I was never reimbursed and when I called I was told their accountant was not in and to call back next week. Went for a root canal on a really deep big cavity and it was a really painless procedure. Dr. Maria did a really good job on my upper molar. It only took about an hour but it felt a lot quicker.
