I found this shop by accident looking for a distributor of a EHX 15 watt Howitzer. Very specific…read moresearch. The Electro-Harmonix site directed me here seeing as how the local big chain store did not have any in inventory even though they were said to be an authorized retailer with the device in stock. I prefer small music stores when I can find them. I don't really care where they are located if they can provide me what I need. This shop has items in stock that the bigger shops list on their sites but can't say when the item will be back in stock but will let you place the order anyway, which could be months to restock! I don't have that kind of patience or money to throw out there. Guitar Guys LLC had everything I needed when I called in. They must still be setting their web store up as there were some smaller items not listed, but they were a phone call away. I have dealt with two associates there this week over the phone. Both were pleasant to deal with and accommodating to my phone ordering needs. Most who know me know I prefer to get my gear from one larger chain store in particular, and that is only due to the pro audio section having all that I need just 3 miles away from my home. But the more specific items that you don't see most people buying or owning, those come from shops like Guitar Guys! I enjoy dealing with staff who are knowledgeable, helpful, and honest. I have nothing but good things to say about my interactions with them and some day I will be in the area to drop into the store to check it out, rather than doing it the "Air Mall" way and coming across something in Guitar Guys online catalogue then calling because suddenly I need that thing I saw that I didn't even know I wanted. They have great prices on their instruments and I foresee a new acoustic guitar this summer. They even sell Cajon's!! Affordably priced Cajon's! Seriously. I wear a shirt that I got from the radio station I work for during their charity drives, it says: "Give Local". That goes with the whole thing of bringing business back to your local community as well. Commerce has become this thing where everything is at our fingertips and not necessarily coming from places we have ever heard of. If I can I do like to shop local because I almost forgot what that is like to get a unique item, or have a unique shopping experience with local businesses. Make new friends with the people working there. You walk in enough times and people know your name after a while. It has been too long since I could find a local music store like that. Maybe Guitar Guys will be that place, maybe not. Either way, they are off to a great start with me and despite how far out they are, I drive out there to visit family anyway and for decent gear, I will make it a point to drive out there more. No matter where you live, their website is there. Just enter guitarguysohio.com and I'm pretty sure the website is hyper-local to your devices that order your food deliveries and your streaming services. Let you or your loved one experience that for their self. It really does help sometimes to just start strumming away when you are happy, sad, bored, inspired, etc., etc... They take PayPal and even have LayAway!! I haven't seen anyone outside of Walmart with a layaway plan since Schottenstein's was around. But Layaway was how I afforded my first bass guitar over 20 years ago, also from a local music shop that has since vanished. I still have that bass. "Shop Local." and let you or your loved one have an experience they will enjoy for years to come. If you are in the area, drop in and try it before you buy. Unlike the joke in the Wayne's World movie, I'm almost certain they will let you play Stairway to Heaven;) Reader, if you made it this far in my review... I salute you and your patience. I really do hope you are as excited about checking them out as I was to do business with them. I'm just excited about small music stores. It is so hard to find good small shops who put quality of their inventory over quantity of their stock who can compete against the bigger stores who want that put quantity over quality of their inventory. Thanks for reading!

Closer inspection shows that the guitars are mostly Daisy Rock brand -- a brand known mainly for their guitars aimed for teenage girls. Not that there's anything wrong with that...guitar geeks just might be a little disappointed. The remainder of the store is filled with lots of junk (ugh) and some music accessories. A small selection of sheet music (Jonas Brothers and Hanna Montana -- teens still the focus), guitar strings, reeds and the like can be found. All-in-all, Pontones is an a-ok music shop. I just wish they would branch out a bit.

When I decided to purchase a Telecaster, I had some trouble finding the right one. I tried MANY…read moredifferent guitars in various stores, but none called to me. I had the opportunity to try one of Ed's Telecasters one day at his shop, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Ed's Tele sounded fantastic, and the neck fit me better than most Teles that I have previously tried. I discussed buying it that day with my wife. She recommended that I figure out what I most wanted out of a Telecaster and have Ed build that one for me, and that is exactly what I did! The process was highly enjoyable and informative. Ed and I sat down to discuss my ideal Telecaster, and he helped me narrow down various competing choices to a set of final build specs. I knew that I wanted certain specs (like a 12-16" compound radius fretboard and a one-piece swamp ash body), but I left the rest of the details to Ed, as I was not well-versed in all the available options. The final result was a work of art with unrivaled playability. Ed matched the action to my preferred playing style (low and fast) with Evo Gold medium fret wire (with hidden tang-ends), a beautiful macassar ebony fretboard of my choosing, and a highly figured (blistered) roasted maple neck carved like the one I tried in his shop that started me down this path. Locking Grover tuners and Gotoh hardware (all in gold) along with Fralin Blues Special pickups rounded out the Tele specs. I wanted the gold hardware (felt warmer than nickel), but left it to Ed to make it work with the guitar's final aesthetic. The body itself was reason enough to go custom instead of buying a mass-produced, high-end guitar. It is the nicest one-piece swamp ash body that I have ever seen. I asked Ed to make this Tele more comfortable to play (think Strat feel vs. traditional Tele slab) and he came through in spades. Ed carved an aggressive belly cut and generous arm rest and left no sharp edges on the Tele of my dreams. I asked him to leave it naked (no pickguard) after seeing its carved beauty. I was unsure of the best color for this guitar, but wanted something in a more natural look that would work with the gold hardware, and Ed couldn't have done better if he were in my head, reading my thoughts. That is the true value of working with Ed on a custom build. You don't have to know every detail up front (I didn't), but Ed seems to be able to divine your ideal guitar from talking and working with you. I simply looked at a bunch of guitar colors online and showed him ones that I really liked and ones that I didn't like so much so he could get a sense of what I really wanted. My Panzer Telecaster is so easy to play, and the tone is sweet and clear. The Fralin Blues Special pickups go great with my Marshall DSL40cr amp. This guitar can play traditional Tele tones, but can also ROCK OUT if that is what I am looking to do with it. If you are seriously thinking of getting a high quality guitar for yourself, do what I did; play all the ones you can find at the retail stores, and then visit Ed Panzer and see for yourself why having a guitar built specifically for you is a better choice.
