My family is going through a financial hardship. We lost our healthcare. When making my appointment I informed the woman of this. She told me what the appointment would cost without coverage. I agreed but said due to the circumstances I would need to be billed I couldn't pay it upfront. I was told that would be fine and the appointment was scheduled. When I arrived I was denied care because I did not have the payment, that I was told I wouldn't need. If you need mental healthcare find it elsewhere, these people clearly don't really care if your in crisis or not! read more

I've have never used a therapist before, but felt the need to talk to a professional- For anyone who has tried it is difficult to get appointments. I called Mid Atlantic they told me I had to come in for an evaluation so they can find the right therapist for me. I filled out the on-line paper work ahead of time. I met with the initial therapist who was quite nice, that evening they had a black out. I waited a week and when I didn't hear from them, I phoned to see when I could be scheduled. I asked for several therapists based on looking at their on line bio's one a psychologist- I was told she doesn't practice only does testing, second one same thing. I said well who do you suggest they said well we were going to put you with 1 of our 2 newer clinicians- I asked so why did I have to come in for an evaluation then? No answer- I didn't have any info on the ones they were suggesting- nothing on their site- so I opted to go with the woman who initially interviewed me, but there is a wait list and she only comes in once a month. I will give it a little while then look elsewhere. read more

I have been through a myriad of therapists, and I never once felt as comfortable and accepted as I do with M. Rossi. She is an exceptional listener and advocate of your well-being. UNBELIEVABLE! I should have read the reviews before I even tried to seek help here. Brought my son in for some guidance and can not even believe how we were treated. On the first visit, some age inappropriate language was used, but I let it slide. On the second visit, the counselor was 20-25 min late to take us back (we were early to arrive BTW). When we got back he took us back as group, then asked to speak to my 9 year old alone for the remainder. I agreed, reluctantly. They came out not even 10 min later and said the session was over, then he called the next patient back. I asked him what happened to our 45 min session and he said he would make it up to us next time. And he made a snide comment on how insurance pays for a visit of 27-56 minutes. REALLY?!? Frankly, you can't make up time. PERIOD. I asked to speak to a manager, but of course this person was also seeing patients and was so tightly booked that they couldn't speak to me. So far I haven't heard anything from management, but I am going to call the insurance company, and anyone else to let them know not to allow this place to continue with its current practice. The other reviews are correct about trying to speak to a human when calling, its a difficult task. ext 302 is Intake and from there if you get no answer you can push 0 and it takes you to the front desk! Hope that helps, but honestly people, I'd go somewhere else...especially if you are bringing your child here. What a waste! read more

Went for a visit for the 1st time on Saturday. The therapist was of no help to me at all, I felt that she didn't even want to help as to what I was talking to her about. All she did was sit there & only had maybe one suggestion for me, which was no help at all. I really need to connect with someone who can help me with what I am going through right now. read more

Giving a single star as I cannot give less. I was a patient for 8 years, when my doctor decided to leave the practice. I was unaware of this and found out only when my prescriptions stopped. When I called to renew my prescription and reschedule with another physician, I was told had I "delayed" too long and they will not renew my prescriptions. I would need also need to come in and go through a battery of counselors before I could see a physician. So three month cold turkey off my meds. In desperation I reached out to the head of their behavior health dept. and was met with silence. Mid Atlantic is healthcare at it's very worst. I saw a psychiatrist remotely through their office and he wasn't nice to me my last appointment. He was not helpful at all. The whole appointment lasted like at the most 10 minutes? And I kind of wanted some input or like... insight or recommendations on medications that could possibly be helpful because I've been feeling way more anxious lately which isn't normal. (I've been diagnosed with clinical anxiety & have greatly improved these past years on medication but I started to feel off again.) He proceeded to tell me that "everyone feels anxious" insinuating how I've been feeling was normal? And I mentioned how I got off one medication because it caused me to gain a lot of weight and he basically said that the reason I gained all the weight wasn't because of the medication.. WHEN THAT LITERALLY IS ONE OF THE SIDE EFFECTS. After that he just prescribed me that medication again than hung up. I kind of expected him to do his actual job and maybe suggest another medication but ya know I guess that was too much to ask. I canceled all of my appointments with him directly after that and I will not be going to them again. The receptionists were pretty nice when I went in. But my last appointment pushed me over the edge and I won't be going to him anymore. I don't need someone to invalidate how I feel and make me second guess myself. Maybe try and listen to your patients before invalidating them and making them feel bad about themselves. read more

I don't even know where to start with this place. The absolute WORST customer care I've experienced from any medical office in my life! Starting with the owner and her husband who happens to be in charge of billing! They repeatedly over charged me, failed to keep accurate records and even after I terminated my relationship with them in mid April, they billed me for a missed appointment in May. Even when I called ahead of time to reschedule an appointment - and verified I would not be charged since I called prior to 24 hour deadline, they billed me anyway. Of course I missed appointments at times - I had no argument if it was my fault - but the billing practices were random, inaccurate and excessive with troubling frequency. i had been using my wellness account - before taxes - to cover medical expenses with them. However, when they billed my insurance carrier they failed to attach the treatment info and my account was suspended until I could provide documentation. When I called billing and after several calls back and forth, they couldn't provide that info - so they reverted back to - "it was for missed appointments the previous year". My wellness account still had unused funds after the year end deadline for documentation needed from them. Very troubling and if you choose to use this facility, just keep a close eye on what they charge you for! read more

This practice has extremely strict policies and is unfriendly to those with family constraints or who work fulltime. I would not recommend them. They took days to schedule me, required lots of upfront work and online sign in before I even got tot the office. Too much bureaucrat, not enough care. They will take your money, however. Completely inflexible. Everything has to go through the "center director." read more

My son has been going to Mid Atlantic Behavioral Health for two years now. We have never had any problems scheduling, changing or canceling an appointment, or getting medications refilled. He has worked with three different counselors who have all been professional. When I call the main number, I just hit zero which takes me directly to the receptionists. As for the counselors, they are not available to take your call when you dial...they are busy helping patients! Therefore, you will have to leave a message. If you think they care, you are dead wrong and might end up in a hospital. I was referred here in July of 2015 after a bad episode sent me to a local hospital for evaluation. After my stay at the hospital I was directed to Mid Atlantic for therapy and medication purposes. Everything was fine at first, I got through therapy and was connected with Dr Valentine. I came in for my regular appointments and generally had no issues. Sometime in 2016 Dr. Valentine decided she was leaving the practice, this is where the trouble began. I received a letter in the mail stating that they were dropping me as a patient. I quickly called the office to find out the doctor was in fact leaving the practice. I was told by the person I spoke with that they had mailed me a letter stating that I had until August 29th 2016 to contact them or they would drop me as a patient. I never received that letter. I have a current prescription that expires in a few days and I am not supposed to quit cold turkey, I was advised they could see me in January and would offer no help with my prescription. So here I sit, a patient who was formerly in a hospital due to anxiety, who was doing well on a prescription and is being refused service at the place that prescribed it. You would think them knowing that I could end up in a hospital again and the fact this medication should not be stopped cold turkey would be enough for them to at least see me or refer me to someone who can. I was simply told "there is nothing we can do for you." Hopefully I can find someone wiling to help me before I am in bad shape. Certainly here no one seems to care if I end up in a hospital or not. I would avoid this place at all cost. If they are unwilling to help someone in the predicament that I am in, don't be fooled into thinking they will care about you either. This has to be the worst medical office I have ever been to when it comes to prescription refills. Every month I have to wait upwards of 2 weeks for the office to send "any" response to my pharmacy. The worst part is everyone keeps telling me I can have life threatening withdraw effects If I don't take it but its the prescribing office that's making little to no effort at all to fill them. How can any modern medical office allow this to happen? Inefficiency putting a patients health in harms way? I will continue to inform as many people about the poor performance of this office until something is finally done to treat people with respect and dignity. Its embarrassing to call the same pharmacy about the same refill every month for almost 2 years. read more
