I just recently when on the Microbrewery tour of Adelaide Hills, lead by our guide Tim. He was really nice and easy to work with leading up to the tour. You take a mini bus to 4 brewery type restaurants in the Adelaide Hills.
1) Prancing Pony- beer paddles are 5 beers, $15. Also had a yummy cheese plate and pretzel. Really cool brewery and vibe, right next to a pasture to give it some ambiance (and smell). :)
2) Lobethal- more crowded but good deal on the paddles. $15 for 8 beers. And a great place to eat
3) Grumpys- was really excited to go here and try their beer and pizzas. Yet they were stingy on the beer and overpriced on the pizzas. But nice to sit in the courtyard and listen to some live music.
4) Wheatsheaf- our last stop back in town. Also had a few wheatsheaf beers on tap they let us sample.
Overall, if you want to spend the day drinking beer and not driving, $50 is definitely worth the investment to check out these breweries and drink good beer. Will try one of the other beer regions next! read more
