I worked with Larry and…read moreasked for a diagnostic first because I wanted to understand what was wrong and whether my files could be recovered without losing anything. He assured me he could recover the files and talked about his experience doing this work, so I trusted him and paid upfront. The due date on my drive was September 12. I didn't get it back until October 7, and it was returned in the same condition, with no files recovered. Throughout that month, nobody reached out with an update. I had to keep going up to the shop myself, and every time, the date got pushed back. I shouldn't have to chase down information about a job I've already paid someone to do.During one of the last visits, Larry told me the drive was "a brick" and said he was going to try one more thing. Calling it "a brick" isn't a diagnostic. To me, that's lazy and poor communication, especially when I specifically asked to understand the problem before agreeing to the work. He never explained what component had failed, what he had tested, or what steps he had taken to recover my files. I didn't need a complicated technical explanation, but I did expect a clear answer. They kept the drive for roughly another week and a half after that conversation. When I picked it up, no files had been recovered. Larry wasn't there, and I left without a clear explanation of what had been done or why the recovery was unsuccessful. I understand that data recovery isn't always possible. But I made my decision based on what Larry assured me he could do. If he realized he couldn't recover the files, he could've called and told me. They had my number. Instead, I kept waiting when I could've been trying another recovery service. What bothers me is...well the whole experience. He took full payment upfront, didn't deliver the recovery he assured me he could provide, and didn't keep me informed. I believe getting a refund is fair since the recovery I paid for wasn't completed. If a diagnostic was all he could offer, that should've been explained and charged accordingly from the beginning. Larry also asked me to pay him through Apple Pay instead of the shop's payment system. I don't remember the explanation he gave me, but looking back, that just doesn't sit right with me. I wish I'd questioned it at the time. I wanted to support this Black-owned business, but I'm going to be honest about my experience. These files mattered to me, and I left feeling like my time, money, and trust weren't respected.

Glad I took the chance. Rick works on both PCs and Apple laptops. My Macbook Air had a virus which was beyond me. My Mac is an older model but I hoped to get another few years out of it. Rick picked up the laptop, was able to remove the virus, install a new browser (at my request), and do a tune-up. Even though it was a Friday afternoon and this problem sent me into a minor binge drinking episode, Concept Technology took care of everything with ease. They were very calming and reassuring on the phone. Realizing that I was about to lose my life's work, which was saved on my hard drive (don't ask me about backing up) they told me that they felt sure they could help me. Two technicians came out to my house, but to no avail. My computer was infected with a deadly virus. With a lump in my throat I watched my computer carried out the door on the shoulder of aforementioned technician. They promised to let me know something as soon as they had the problem pegged. Not two hours passes before they called me with a diagnosis. The good news is that these people know what they are doing. Not only did they make my computer well, for a reasonable fee they installed the latest software and an excellent firewall. No more viruses for me. If you do a lot of work on your computer, or just enjoy emailing and playing around on The Net, then you know the horrors that can come with computers. For those of us not so tech savvy, Computer Renaissance is a breath of fresh air. They reinstalled my computer, and I was up and running, all in two days. They even called me and checked to make sure everything was as it should be the next day. For my sake, I hope I don't need their services again.
