So... this review has nothing to do with the door shop, but everything to do with it! I'm not sure if they're in the process of converting their back area into an event space for the public, but I was just here for a wedding banquet. I think out of all of the weddings I've been to so far (most definitely 10+), this was by far one of my favorite. Maybe it was the country, maybe it was the people. Maybe it was the grapevines in the backdrop. Or tractors. But mostly, I think it was the food. That super delicious tri-tip steak. The chicken. The total family feel you get from the owners and the Sonoma/Napa Valley endless wine. There are a few cons as the ground is gravel and it isn't for people who expect glitz and glamour. So when was looking for a glass barn door for the interior we went here first. First off let me tell you, I did shop around..and nowhere I went even had what I wanted, and what they did have was over $900 (not right size, not glass nor white). Do yourself a favor and don't search for any other solution to any of your special door needs. Linda and Mick have a door for everyone. Our architect thought it was a great idea to design a 9 foot door but little did we know that it's really hard to get. We ordered one online and after 4 months of waiting and excuses by the company we canceled the order. We started looking around locally since our home needed an entrance door desperately. Everybody was super busy and could not work with us for months ahead. Finally we went to Mick. It's a small shop. Linda greeted us and after just a few minutes brainstorming with Mick we found a solution and not long after that we had a beautiful door which he built by putting two doors together. They just dont throw you a catalog, but actually they have a huge shop that you can see the doors on hand and they have a huge selection. Don't look any where else!! read more

Wow, if you want to know what to do with an opening with a door, please go to Mick's Door. They will help you design what you need. That's what they did with us!! We love them!! Mick's Door is a little out of the way, and they are not exactly openly friendly, but if you come in with a plan, they are willing to help you with your design and help you with a solution!! My impression is that they are very laid back; not exactly openly friendly, but if you can get on their good side, they become more friendly and helpful. And once you get past that, they will give you their all in helping you to design what you actually need and helpful in the most cost effective way. This family owned Buisness has been around for 30 years, they must be doing something right. Price is wonderful for the quality and craftsmanship you get. We needed to replace the glass in one of our exterior french doors and after getting a quote of over $500 from a local shop decided to keep looking. Found Mick's on the web after much searching and gave them a call. Wow-super friendly, beyond reasonable and FAST. Prices were so good that we upgraded the glass in both doors with integrated blinds for much less than the original quote for plain glass in one. Incredible! They got us exactly what we needed in just a couple of days. Installed the glass ourselves (super easy) and now have modern, great looking doors for far less than what we were expecting to spend. This place is great!! I just had my second door done here and couldn't be more pleased. We had a french door for our front entry and needed more privacy as we are close to a sidewalk that gets alot of pedestrian use. Mick's reworked the old door and left the glass at the top and did 2 panels at the bottom in wood. It is unbelievable what they did and how it looks like it was always like this!! The are real craftsmen and very pleasant to deal with. So accommodating and friendly! Love this place and I will definitely return. I also had them do a dutch door for me a few years ago and loved it so much that is why I sought them out again. I think they are great at recycling and reusing old doors...really can't say enough about how great they are. Also their pricing is beyond reasonable. read more

Found Mick's Door Shop by accident one day driving down Llano road. A couple years later I remembered them when I needed a new front door so decided to check them out. They found us a wonderful front door (literally found it for us behind a stack of other doors they were working on) - it was exactly what I had pictured, completely unique from anything to be found in the big box stores (forget Home Depot and Lowe's if you don't want the same exact door as 50 of your closest neighbors). There was even an interesting story behind it, actually behind the whole door industry which Mick was happy to talk about - he's been in the business 30 some years and knows his stuff. I expected to pay more and would have been willing to pay more to have the quality and know that I'm shopping local, but actually felt that I got a really good deal on the pricing. I highly recommend Mick's door shop to anyone who wants a quality, unique door, as well as anyone who is interested in shopping local and supporting the smaller companies who struggle to compete with the big guys - without places like Mick's Door shop we would become a cookie cutter community with no variety. read more
