I love that they tried to make a dog park... But it's just ghetto. The people in Killeen are likely to blame. And up-front, I had a bad experience... but reading the other reviews it seems others did too. First up, it's a bring your own water sort of park, there is a faucet, but it didn't seem to be working when I was there. Even with the "Small" and "Large" sides to the park, people bring poorly trained aggressive dogs and don't really supervise them. I went to play fetch with my dog, and this other dog thought it was OK to try and corner my dog and then attack him just to get the ball. My dog was bleeding after the encounter, but no major damage. But it could have been. The other dog's owner, "Oh sorry, guess my dog plays a bit rough..." but it was a joke to him. He didn't even try and break them up, so there I was jumping into a dog fight... not at all where I wanted to be. Look, as long as you have shitty dog owners, you'll have a shitty dog park. This park isn't safe for dogs. Also... just a lot -- like a lot -- of dog shit that hadn't been picked up. That's on the owners, not the dog park. But it's on the dog park for not banning those owners. If I were the city, I'd just swing by once in a while and start writing tickets for all the un-neutered dogs. Some things you need to make a dog park work... * Water for the dogs. * Owners who actively supervise their dogs. * Some sort of common understanding that people will only use the park if their dog is neutered, and up-to-date on shots. * An enforced dog park ban list for people who have aggressive dogs. * An enforced dog park ban list for people who don't pick up after their dogs. read more

Love the park but don't like that people don't follow rules small dog park mean small dog park not large dog park. Why is it so hard in 2022 for people to FOLLOW the dang rules. I go there with my 4lb chi and of course a man is sitting at the picnic table with a large dog. Well my dog is out walking and doing her thing and here comes the large dog well my little girl is not shy let big know she may be small but doesn't like big dogs. This has to be the best dog park I've been to hands down. The poop bags are always full. The community of people who come to this park are true dog lovers and care for their dogs and yours. Each time I've been here there hasn't been a fuss or fight with any dog. They're truly friendly dogs here. Nice shaded seating areas too. There aren't every any rouge Poops either ! I wish I could say better things about this dog park but the last few visits have been troublesome. First and foremost there are a lot of un-neutered and who knows how many un-spayed, unvaccinated dogs brought here which may attribute to the many dog fights I've witnessed, one of them being against my dog. The pet owners don't seem to take accountability for their pets behaviors. I would say just so so, a dog park without water for dogs to at least drink is just unacceptable. The most we saw was a mud puddle. Poop pick up stations all over the park and people won't pick up there dogs poop?! Poop is everywhere. Dog poop breeds parvovirus you know this right?? I was very happy to see the "coming soon" sign posted on the corner of W.S. Young and Veterans Memorial a few weeks ago. My dog enjoys doc parks and thinking about the drive to Temple, Harker Heights or farther for her to play would require a second thought. Well this place opened June 10th and it is great. Unfortunately, it wasn't on Yelp so I added it and unfortunately it's been too rainy to visit often but the weather seems nice in the forecast so we will be frequent visitors. A little bit about the park: The 2.2-acre park is designed to accommodate small and large dogs with separate play areas, pavilions, seating and landscaping. There was poop everywhere and my sweet dog got ganged up on several times and almost attacked once. "Some" of the pet owners were sitting around yapping and not watching their idiotic aggressive dogs! I mean why bring your dog to a dog park if you know your dog has issues! someone needs to be there to monitor things. One of the idiot pet owners tried to tell me his dog tried to attack my dog because his dog doesn't like leashes. (I put her leash back on b/c we were about to leave.) so I took the leash off because I got wrapped up in it and my dog was distraught she wouldn't move while on the leash. Well, once she was off the leash the same dumba$$ dog went charging for my dog full speed and nearly bit her! Then the idiot pet owner that failed to control his dumb dog in the first place just sat there and didn't say one single word! Again, if you know your dog has issues like that then why take your dog to a dog park!?! The owners need to tk their pets to obedience training/school! Wth!?! Needless to say we will not be returning. Then when we went to the playground across the street from the park the parents over there told me that there is ALWAYS dog fights at dana dog park. They recommend the one out in harked heights. They said it's much better. Ps. Also, there was another dog who almost attacked my dog and the pet owner told me that her dog almost attacked my dog because she thought my dog was a deer because she is brown!?! Wth!?! I am so bleeping tired of this park never being open! I drove over 20 mins to bring my dogs here multiple bleeping times and it's NEVER OPEN! It's fudging 10:40 on a fudging Wednesday and it is Locked with Zero explanation for its closing!!! I give up!!!! The park is nestled on a very busy intersection of WS Young. Make sure you have a secure hold on your dogs or they have good recall. The park has two sides, big and little dogs. The park takes forever to dry after a ran. The mud there is very sticky and a pain to get off yourself and your dog. If there was any rain in the last week, avoid the park. The wet mud also has an awful weird smell of garbage. There's minimal shade at the park. Only two benches have shade canopies on the big side and one on the little side. The trees on both sides are immature baby trees that offer no shade. There are little obstacles on both sides if your dog is into that and long-lost toys others have left. The city needs to refill the poop bags so owners aren't wandering all over forgetting where their dog pooped just to find the poop sack. This might cut down on the poop piles. The biggest negative I found was people who bring not so friendly dogs to the park who ruin it for the people with the active, friendly dogs. There is a playground for kids close by, but too far away for your kids to play and your dog to run around. I will not the park is handicap accessible with a ramp to the upper portion. To wrap is up, lots of open space, little shade, crappy dog owners and next to a very busy street. read more

Nice park, but there's poop everywhere and the water faucets for the dogs don't work on either side of the park. Kinda ridiculous seeing as how it's very easy for dogs to overheat without any water at all. Be prepared to bring your own water and watch where you step. read more

Located across from the Killeen Community center at the bottom of the hilll. The park was pretty decent with the usual obstacles for doggies training for medals or just cruising. Only downside of it is that people do not pickup after their pets. read more

It's OK but I wish they had a little pond or something for the dogs to swim. There is a side for bigger dogs and one for the small dogs like most parks have. People don't like to pick up the poop apparently so there is a lot all over, like the other review said (at least on the bigger dog side). read more

I love this park. I really do. It's separated for large dogs and small dogs and both sides are more than big enough. The only downside has nothing to do with the park, but the people blatantly breaking the rules. He rules say every animal needs to be spayed/neutered. You see males that come in that are clearly not neutered humping everything!!! For people with puppies that are too young to be spayed this could cause some serious problems. Or if the owner has already gotten their female spayed, having a male jumping on their back trying to hump them naturally brings out defensive aggression and puts the poor female in a bad mood. That's the most frustrating thing. Of course, lots of people don't want to clean up after their pet, even though there is more than enough baggie posts around the park. The city did a good deed with this park, but the people of Killeen just abuse it, like a lot of public things here in killeen. I think maybe having a police officer that's on standby in the area just pop in to check the park every so often would really help with these problems. read more
