I reached out to Tom to see what he could come up with to maximizing seeing LA and Hollywood. He picked us up at our hotel and at the conclusion dropped us off directly at the cruise terminal. Some of our highlights included a nice up high shot and view of the Hollywood sign, then the Star Walk, Chinese Theater, Beverly Hills and the Santa Monica pier. He was very adaptive to what we wanted and flexed to meet our needs. He had great recommendations and insights along the way. You could tell he really enjoyed what he did. He personalized the trip by having California tunes as a part of his song playlist. He took great pride in his work and executed flawlessly. Yes the private tour may have been a little more but it was worth every penny and I would do it all over again if I had the chance.

Our private tour took us to Santa Monica Pier, the Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Sign, and a couple of cemeteries including Hollywood Forever. We had such a great time with Cody and he even made some suggestions because of traffic and if we were interested. It was great and everything worked out perfectly. We took Cody to lunch before our full day tour was over. I've been on many tours, in many cities, and this is by far the best company I have ever worked with and one of the best private tours that I've done. Thank you, Tom and Cody for an awesome experience. Don't change...you're perfect the way you are! Thank you and next time I'm in the area, I'll be back doing another private tour!

Return is from 3:15pm to around 8pm if there's no traffic. These include a 20 minute stop halfway in Barstow Station. It's cheaper than a flight I get to avoid aiport TSA hassle. Pros: - Comfy seats and always a nice clean bus - Free drinks and snacks form tour guide person, often an old russian lady who likes to tell jokes that are hit-and-miss. - Free checked bag service where the bus driver can store roller bags in the under-bus compartment (although I just carry my small duffel bag onboard and tuck it under the seat) - Two free movies on overhead screens - Now there is assigned seating so no more needing to rush to get in line early to grab preferred seats. Cons: - No longer provided free earbuds to watch the movies. Bring your own standard jack earbuds or else they charge $3 to buy one. - On one trip back from LV the bus broke down, but they got another bus out for us in less than 30 minutes to continue our trip. - The free Wifi can get spotty at remote locations in the dessert, probably not good enough for continuous video streaming.

One of the 3 buses "broke down" en route to pick kids up, but chose not to communicate this until all the kids were waiting in the hot sun, on the asphalt to be picked up. Didn't send another bus, didn't try to solve the problem... Just seemingly didn't care. Unbelievable. Do NOT recommend.

But I noticed a lot of amazing upgrades from new and bigger buses to more LA stops and coverage. I see you "A Day In LA Tour" team! I just took my brother and his partner yesterday (Monday) and we all truly enjoyed it. Keoni (Kee) was our tour guide and driver; she did an amazing job! We learned a lot of historical and fun facts about LA! She even gave us great restaurant and store recommendations. We especially enjoyed being able to take a little nap after a great lunch and didn't have to worry about having to drive in the traffic and craziness. Lol. Kee was great at enduring that traffic and very accommodating in letting us know how much time we had to our next stop! Thanks Kee!! Oh and thanks "A Day In LA Tour" team for the parking recommendation as well. I was able to park in the garage the entire day for $20 and there was a Mcdonald's up the street we grabbed breakfast before checking in. Like I said in my previous review, I highly recommend this tour team and when my family visits I will bring them on this tour. Keep up the fantastic work and great upgrades (the AC vans, water, reclining seats, and USB ports to charge my cellphone are a brilliant upgrade). I will definitely be back! Thanks again for giving us a fantastic day in LA.

We took the 'Grand Tour of LA' earlier this week…read more We really enjoyed the tour, although with two kids under 10 the day was a little long (more about that in a minute). Our guide, Charles, was very informative from the moment we set off and was happy to be asked questions as we went along. We loved Nuestra Señora Reina which was so peaceful and had such a magical aura. Amazing that such a vibrant, influential city has grown from such beginnings. The tours around Hollywood, Sunset Strip/Boulevard and Beverly Hills were great too. The latter was almost TOO perfect! We were not keen on Venice Beach... at all! It was a shame it was our last stop as it therefore left a lasting impression. We're not conservative people by the way (family of 4 Vegans) but I just fail to see the appeal of a place inhabited by zombies! I've read about the places supposed bohemian vibe and, yes, some of the murals and graffiti were really cool but what is exciting/appealing/alluring about a place where vastly large numbers of people look grossly unhappy, seriously unwell, completely oblivious to the outside world or, in most cases, a combination of all three? The tour should really take this into account. We were with our kids but others on the tour had really young children with them and looked really uncomfortable with Venice Beach. I can understand maybe stopping the bus there but not giving us time to explore. Other than my comments about Venice, a few other gripes: *There was a couple on our tour that repeatedly returned to the bus 15-30 mins later than instructed. As a result the tour overran by nearly 3 hours and we were stuck in commuter traffic coming back. I suggest threatening such people with abondonment at Venice Beach. That should prove to be sufficient deterrent! * Our guide, Charles, was also our driver. A separate guide and driver would be much better as it made communicating with him more difficult * Not sure why the longest stop was at The Farmers' Market. We would have much preferred more time in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, LA or an additional stop at Santa Monica All in all though, we enjoyed the trip and loved LA (except for 'Zombieville'...)

Our bus driver to Universal Studios told the supervisor that they aren't coming and that we should get a moving, the supervisor wanted to hear none of it and wanted to stuff the 3 missing tourists in to maximize his profits. After 30 minutes the supervisor let us go. The supervisor, either a white dude or Arabic, was really condescending to his drivers and treated the Asian tourists with disrespect; he counted buses for them and spelled out the numbers (1-O-N-E, 2-T-W-O, 3-T-H-R-E-E). The dude was a mega d***. The company gets redeemed though with their incredibly friendly and warm drivers we had the pleasure of having 2 different drivers on the Universal + City Light tours, a guy named Bjorn and a Cedric the Entertainer clone. Both were excellent tour guides and human beings. That supervisor on the other hand, complete meh.

Having been on other bus tours by different companies before and it not going so well, I was very hesitant to go again. But I'm glad I got talked into this because everything was wonderful! Our tour was a 4 days, 3 nights tour visiting Grand Canyon, Sedona, Slide Rock Park, and Las Vegas. For our trip we had 2 buses with over 100 people but both the guides and drivers worked diligently to ensure we were all taken care of. On the bus that I was on, Lisa and Nghia took care of us. John was in charge of the second bus. They were friendly, entertaining, and accommodating. During the ride they played movies to pass the time. They made stops about every 2 hours to make sure everyone can use the bathroom. Complimentary snacks and water were passed out throughout the trip. At each stop, we also had adequate time to take photos. Our tour guide Nghia walked around and snapped photos of us too on his professional camera and after the trip they made every family a CD so we can all have photos for memories. That is a very nice touch to everything that they're doing right so far. The hotels they chose for us to stay in were clean and has complimentary breakfast. I felt like we were so well taken care of and I cannot thank you enough to Lisa, Nghia, and John for giving us such a wonderful experience! I will definitely recommend Family Tours to friends and family and am looking forward to our next tour.
