When he returned, he said the kitchen had made a mistake and they were out of tuna, even though the plate he took from me had tuna. The only thing that was wrong on the original plate was the sashimi. He asked if I wanted something else and I was so hungry, I asked if my other order could come out while I looked at the menu. What I did receive, did not have any tuna, even though the menu said it should, I guess that's my fault for asking for the other 2 rolls to come out, thinking all they would do is take the sashimi off the plate, but he should have told me they would not have any tuna at all to make sure I would still want it. The sushi did not have any flavor, not even the soy sauce helped. The most flavorful thing on the plate was the sesame seeds and I wasn't the only one at the table who thought that. It was so unenjoyable that I could not even finish the 2 rolls I had in front of me. The service was overall terrible, the server was not attentive or friendly. The food was severely overpriced. The only good thing about this meal was the gyoza, and that another server came to tell us the kitchen was doing a last call for food. It's definitely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had and our group of 6 is all in agreement. Would not recommend, would absolutely not return, not even for free.

But having moved to the South…read moreside and its limited availability of Sushi places, I decided to give this place another go. And I'm glad I did. It's a solid sushi place with good variety of the typical Irish rolls (California, Dragon, Salmon Creme cheese etc.). The rolls are nicely prepared and obviously the fish is fresh - which helps ;-) I wouldn't say it's the best sushi I've ever had and the rolls are a bit too big for my taste. If you've ever been at Yamamori's you'll know what I mean, they're similar. Other than that the service is good, very friendly and prompt (they only have 6 tables or so). I recommend the Temaki Combo which is actually good value for money. Lots of people come by to collect orders, so its actually quite a busy place, but if you're in Ranelagh you might as well pop in. Big groups is still a no-go (due to limited space) but a nice dinner for two is always an option.
