In January 2026, my youngest daughter and I went to Michelle's Bridal to try on dresses for my older daughter's wedding, scheduled for late June 2026. We called ahead and made an appointment to try on dresses, and I made it clear when scheduling that we were looking for dresses for a bridesmaid and mother of the bride, as well as cocktail dresses - so we were potentially buying FOUR dresses. We were immediately told that there would "...be NO time to order anything" so we would have to buy off the rack. Ok, fine. We went in for our scheduled time, the woman looked us up and down, and pointed back to a small rack of dresses, and then waved in the direction of another potential area where we might find something. When I asked for our specific size, she kind of laughed and suggested that we would have to take whatever was available. The dresses were ugly last season dresses, smelled horrible, were ripped and stained, some even had busted zippers, and were all still priced over $600. We tried on two, and decided to leave. The story goes even longer and the service gets even worse in terms of level of care and quality, I will save the reader from the absolute worst details. We even were walked down to the prom dress area, where the service was clearly centered to cater to that clientele. Bottom line is, we were judged immediately based on size, and sent to a back room with a fitter who really could have cared less about us. Needless to say, we bought nothing there. I will add that their quote about it being "too late to order anything" was absolutely wrong, goes beyond measure in terms of scoring this business for integrity and customer care. I ordered two beautiful dresses direct from a designer from her Spring 2026 line, received BOTH dresses within a week, and already have them in for alterations and it is only the second week of March. What's more, the formal gowns I tried on at Nordstrom, Macy's and Bloomingdale's far out surpassed Michelle's Bridal in terms of quality and price, by leaps and bounds, and we were treated better by the retail staff than by anyone at Michelle's. The advice I would leave folks with, who might be considering Michelle's Bridal for their special day, is shop around. Just because they are the *only* bridal shop in this area, does not give them the right to judge customers, treat customers like garbage, and assume facts about the industry that just are not true. Do your own research. They should stick to their niche prom and homecoming crowd, who are willing to overpay for cheap, one-time wear dresses. Such a shame, especially when there is a market for high quality wedding boutiques that offer high end customer care, even for the mother of the bride. I vote NO for Michelle's Bridal. read more

I was in a group for my daughter in law to shop for a dress. Our day had been hectic going to other stores in the area and we were all exhausted in every way. From the minute we walked into Michelle's, it was a completely different feeling. So classy!!! They were welcoming. We were offered refreshments. People were kind and accommodating even though our group was large. Our stylist was fantastic. I can't remember her name but she was great. I watched other brides around us when my daughter in law was in the dressing room and they all seemed to be having a great time as well. It looks like they have a great selection for lots of sizes, too, not just small girls. Beautiful, well made gowns! They also worked with my daughter in law's budget. My sister bought her wedding dress at Michelle's. The first appointment went well. The salesperson was helpful in finding The Dress, and sorting through our likes and dislikes. My sister tried on just a few dresses before deciding on one. Easy peasy, my mom put down payment and waited 6 months. Slippery slope after dress came in. Keep in mind we are straight up novice buyers, and not well-informed on the procedures for wedding dress buying and alterations. We went to try on the dress expecting an on-site alterations person (we told the salesperson we would use one of their recommended alterations people) to do measurements at that time. My sister lives out of town, so she was disappointed when she was told she needed to contact the seamstress ourselves to make an appointment. We would have done so beforehand if we had known. So, we had to come a second time for measurements for alterations. At the second appointment, the seamstress pinned the dress and showed us how she would create a bustle. It didn't look right... see the attached photo. I thought it make the dress look like it had a shelf in the back and was not attractive. But, we all figured that it was because it was pinned and not sewn yet. Several weeks later, we were informed that the dress was finished and ready to try on. Yay! At this appointment, my sister noticed that the bustle had not improved by being sewn instead of pinned, in fact it looked worse. We were not informed that there are actually several ways to bustle a dress. We were not shown any options except the one the seamstress showed us. In the days following, I looked online and saw that there were other ways to bustle long dresses, and several of them looked considerably more attractive than the one that was created for our dress. With very little time left before the wedding, my mom picked up the dress from Michelle's and took it to a different alteration seamstress who showed us how best to bustle this very long, train-heavy dress. The corrected bustle was beautiful and suited the style and weight of the dress. Anyone who's ever done wedding planning knows how hectic things can get and so we weren't able to express our disappointment and displeasure with Michelle's seamstress recommendation until after the wedding. Several weeks after the wedding, my mom went to Michelle's and presented pictures of their bustle and the bustle we had redone elsewhere. The salespeople were unresponsive, unmoved, and refused to take any responsibility for what the seamstress who works contractually out of their store created. When my mom informed them that we were not shown that there were several options for bustling, they only said it was up to the seamstress and not to them. In fact, they agreed with the seamstress on her choice of bustling technique. Michelle's was not considerate of our criticism. Buyer beware. In my opinion, they're selling very pretty dresses for pretty penny and then allowing a contractual and recommended seamstress to destroy it. I have actually talked to other customers of their store who have similar stories after purchasing prom dresses and having them altered by the same person. read more

The tux my son rented for prom was gorgeous but it didn't fit him well. The jacket and pants were both a bit tight and the pants were too long. I saw another prom goer there and his pants were way too short. Our "sales" person was a bit rushed, as they were busy, and didn't seem to care about measuring and fitting my son well. Cassidy was simply AH-MAZING! I booked a private champagne appointment with her. I was extremely nervous going in to my appointment & was terrified none of the dresses would look good on me. Cass made the experience so inviting from the beginning. There were refreshments & snacks waiting for us. I began by picking out a few dresses that I thought I would like to try-on. Little did I know- she even had some some dresses pulled and ready in the dressing room based off my Pinterest board! She was so calming and professional when discussing the pros/cons of each dress. When I found my dress, I could tell that she was genuinely so excited for me and thought it was the perfect dress for me. We cannot wait to go back to shop for the rest of our wedding party. I can not say enough about Michelle's Bridal and my experience there. I would absolutely recommend to any bride in the Central IL area to book an appointment with one of their amazing stylists. A study in stark contrast when compared to David's Bridal. Michelle's Bridal, I don't mind saying, is the shit. They have a fabulous selection of dresses from great designers (Maggie Sottero, Sottero & Midgley, Mori Lee, Essense of Australia, Casablanca, Enzoani, and Alfred Angelo). And that's only the wedding dresses! They also have extensive selections for the bridal party, tuxes, and prom dresses. The shop itself is beautiful, has gorgeous wood floors, is well-layed out, well-furnished and is always kept tidy and clean. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. My consultant, Melissa, is experienced, talkative, and honest (l like it when I'm not just being pandered to, but being given honest opinions). She has had infinite patience with me so far, which is greatly appreciated. Just be sure to make an appointment and you'll get a whole hour and a half to kill there. Unlike some places, you get to walk around, browse through the dresses and pick as many as you'd like to try on. The consultant doesn't stay right there to make you feel rushed, either, which I thought was fantastic. I went shopping alone, but I didn't feel like I was alone, because Melissa was so attentive. She obliged me by taking multiple pictures of each dress (another benefit of this place). I don't think they're too outrageously expensive....I've checked, and they're not too far over suggested retail prices (after all, they're an independent business who needs to make money to operate). Plus, they do have sales on each designer sometime throughout the year, so you can just wait for those if you have the time. And there's a seamstress on staff who charges considerably less than those at, say, David's Bridal. Highly recommended all around. read more

I can sleep at night because I found my wedding dress. The process was a struggle, y'all. I cried after a lot of shops because everyone wanted to stick me in a dress that looks identical to every Midwestern bride since 2001. I wanted something classic and timeless and no one saw my vision. I emailed their generic email on a whim, hoping they would have a dress I was interested in -- they didn't, but Adrian was quick to reply and immediately knew what I was looking for. She wasn't pushy and after a few attempts, I finally set up an appointment. The appointment itself was great. I hate the circus that has become dress shopping (thanks, TLC) and the gals here were cool and chill and I felt like we should all get margaritas afterward. The thought of being basically naked in a room with someone I just met is SO unappealing to me, so I appreciated their robes more than they knew. High five for modesty. I could tell them my honest feelings without feeling like a bridezilla, and even though the dress I left with was not at all what I thought I would get, not once did they pressure me into trying a dress on. Their selection of dresses compared to other stores was unbelievable, and they were just nice folks. That wasn't something I found anywhere else. I would go here again and again, and will forever send my newly engaged friends to the fine gals at Michelle's, especially my new pal Andria! read more

I have never written a review on here before because I never felt it was necessary, but after my experience today, I advise those potential shoppers to think twice about visiting this store. I had a bad feeling about our appointment when we showed up early for our appointment and had to ask twice if we had a consultant. They finally had a room for us a half hour later, as our arms were overflowing with dresses. Once we were in a room (four girls in one room, mind you), our consultant was nowhere to be found. I would ask her to grab some dresses for us and it would take her ten minutes to come back. We had other appointments today and couldn't be waiting around. She apologized saying her other appointment ran over, but I do not feel that means she should spend less time with us. She only surfaced to take our "no's" out of the dressing room. Additionally, when we asked about other dresses in the line, they lied to us and said they had every dress there in store. No sooner did we leave, did I look online and find other dresses in the line that were not in store. We understood that they were busy and that it is a Saturday during prom season, but that should not have affected our experience or the way we were treated. They treated us like our time didn't matter and that their prom girls were more important. Plus, as we were finishing up, we felt rushed out of our area because a large group was coming in and needed the space. In short - we were made to feel like our time was not worth their efforts and that other customers were more important. The good news is that we found dresses that we love, however we will not be buying them from Michelle's. read more

The review is based on my tuxedo and jewelry experience. I purchased my wedding dress in Texas, where I live, but our wedding was held in Champaign. The jewelry Michelle's made for me was beautiful! I was able to bring a swatch of material and photos and they matched the color and style I wanted perfectly without seeing the actual dress. I still wear the jewelry today (almost 6 years later) and it's just as pretty. The tuxedo experience was a breeze. All of the groomsmen lived out of state so had to fax their measurements in for the tuxedos. They were available for pick up when promised, altered correctly and easy drop off experience. I can't say enough the great experience - planning a wedding out of state is nerve wracking but everything worked out great! read more

My first experience ever with Michelle's Bridal Shoppe was actually at their Prom "sister store" M2 in high school. This was when it was still attached to Michelle's Bridal Shoppe portion and I remember always saying I wanted to get my wedding dress there one day. Well fast forward 7 years and here I am planning my wedding. I now live in Los Angeles and knew I still wanted to get my dress back home. While looking at dresses online I would always type in Michelle's to see if they had it in store. I fell in love with one specific dress (lace shoulders, key hole, white, no lace up). It said Michelle's had it so I booked my ticket home to try this dress on. I booked my appointment online for a Friday at 2pm, hoping that it wouldn't be busy and crowded, which it wasn't at all, this meant myself, my mom, MOH, and future Mother-In-Law had the whole store to ourselves to look at all the dresses. When I showed Cassidy, my consultant, the dress I was in love with she told us they didn't have that specific dress but had others like it, which I was okay with. I was adamant though on a dress that was a key hole back, white, and zip up, they had plenty of them. My 4th dress in I instantly fell in love with a dress that was the polar opposite of what I wanted. Cassidy told me that it was a collaboration of my MOH and herself on the dress. I was in love with it and was so glad I had Cassidy to help my MOH with a dress that "works for all body types". After that, I of course had to "Say Yes to the Dress" even if it was way over my initial budget. Cassidy did an amazing job of helping with jewelry, bringing over a tux in the color I want, and even getting my MOH in a couple bridesmaid dresses to match up with the whole package. Her focus and attention was on our needs and made us feel very welcomed the whole time. Throughout the appointment I realized she has helped several people I know by all the thank you cards on her bulletin board. I am so happy with the whole experience we had and I am definitely looking forward to coming back in September to look at bridesmaid dresses and tuxes. My daughter and I went shopping for Homecoming dresses. Welcomed into the store by a friendly, energetic salesperson. She was very professional, attentive, and explained the process fully. Your given a card (with an emoji) that identifies you and the dresses you chose. Dresses are taken to dressing room area and once you've completed your dress search you check-in, and are escorted to your dressing room. Girls are available to help the entire time. We even have the same girl helping us but all the salesgirls were attentive and would offer opinion and help. Salesperson even went to rack and chosen other dresses for my daughter to try on based on her preferences and likes. My daughter found a dress she loved, accessories and shoes were added to complete the look and yes, we purchased the whole ensemble. All the sales staff were exceptional. I didn't buy my dress at Michelle's, only rented tuxes there, so I cannot speak for the dress buying experience at Michelle's. DO NOT rent tuxes from them. DO NOT! If you think about renting them there and speak with someone named Monica, run! I live about 3 hours from Champaign but had my wedding in Champaign, and I spent a lot of (needless) time emailing back and forth with Monica. For some reason I had to repeat things over and over...she definitely was not really reading my emails or just has really bad reading comprehension because she would ask the same questions over and over....things I had already answered. When I talked to her on the phone she seemed very scatterbrained. The day of the wedding all of the guys were wearing different styles of vests!!! They were all the correct color (black...kind of hard to mess that part up), but they were all different styles! Apparently after the long string of emails she still couldn't get it right. My friend recently got married she also dealt with Monica and all the guys ended up with the wrong shoes - she had ordered them the wrong ones! She was told Michelle's would give her a refund for the shoes, but she hasn't seen it yet. read more

I would have loved my experience at this store EXCEPT that my dress was not fitted properly and would not stay up at my ceremony. The alterations gal made it clear to me that I had chosen a very "busy" time (prom season) and that my wedding dress fitting was NOT her priority. My experience here was not awful but not great either. I came with a very specific type of dress in mind and the dresses my sales consultant pulled for me were not at all what I wanted. They weren't even close to the pictures I showed her on my phone. I didn't get the chance to even glance at the dress selection which I felt was kind of strange. I even saw plenty of other people looking around and picking up dresses so I knew it was something that customers were allowed to do. And she only had me try on 3 dresses...I was told my appointment was supposed to last 1.5 hours and I was only in the store for 45 minutes. My whole experience here was kind of odd. I ended up not buying my dress from Michelle's, but visited the shop twice and had lovely experiences both times. My consultants were always extremely friendly and helpful, and provided excellent suggestions and honest feedback. The store is beautiful inside (and recently remodeled), with a very large selection of dresses. They allow you to peruse the racks yourself, but also pick out dresses they feel match what you are looking for. In short, very helpful and fun to work with! If their prices were more in my range (we are having a very low-budget wedding), I definitely would have purchased my gown from them. I can't speak for their ordering/alterations/etc since I didn't go that far, but I have not heard anything bad about them in that regard. read more

She contacted me the week prior to my appointment to find out what I liked and disliked, and with that information was able to have a great selection of dresses waiting for me. She did a fantastic job at accessorizing the dress I loved, and was able to answer all my questions and concerns throughout the whole process. Compared to my other experiences with dress shopping, this one doesn't even compare. I visited and purchased a wedding dress from Michelle's in October 2013. Appointments later in the evening during the week seem to be a good time to stop by, as there weren't many customers (despite being Homecoming season) and I had my consultant's undivided attention. I was looking for a non-white wedding dress and particularly liked the Essense of Australia line; Michelle's had the best selection in central Illinois, I was able to try on about five in my size (6), and they have silvers, golds, and faint pink colors to choose from. Ultimately, I purchased a soft gold dress from them off the rack for a negotiated $800 (order price is somewhere around $1200-$2000 depending on where you purchase from). They also threw in button and embellishment replacements and did their best to spot treat the dress before I completed my purchase the following week. This was a great experience and the best I had after visiting upwards of six locations. The only thing I'd add to watch out for if you decide to negotiate buying a dress is to remember that the sales tax is almost 10% in this area. Had I known that I would have negotiated a bit more with the manager so that my final purchase price was lower than $870. Still, it was a fair deal I don't think anyone felt sore about making and the money I saved by buying off the rack allowed me to stay in budget when it time for alterations (I went elsewhere for those). read more

With all of the fabulous bridal salons here in Atlanta, I never in a million years thought I would find my dress in Champaign, IL; but thanks to Michelle's, I did! I had already done some shopping in Chicago and found a dress I really liked, but was trying to find something a little more in line with my budget. When I was in town for a family function and having no desire to do any serious wedding business, my mom convinced me to go "just for fun". What I found at Michelle's were more dresses in the style and price range that I wanted than anywhere I looked in Chicago. My consultant was extremely helpful and asked all the right questions to help guide me in my decision. When I put on the last one though, BAM, done and done. No questions necessary for this one, just tell me where to sign. So, while I didn't get to look into any of the bridal salons I have been lusting after for the past several months down here in the South, I did get the dress of my dreams at a reasonable (ish) price AND my mom got to be there. I also really appreciate that they let you take pictures. I feel like some bridal salons miss out on sales because of that. I know with my second choice dress in Chicago, if they would have let me take a picture of myself in it so that I could obsess over it and show it to all my friends after I left, I probably would have gone back to get it. But since I had nothing to go on, the magic kind of faded from memory. My mom also purchased her dress here, and she is VERY excited about it. read more

This review may be a little lengthy, but just stick around if you can. First, my experience dress shopping at Michelle's was amazing. I loved how Kate messaged me early on when I originally scheduled my appointment, and she had me set up a Pinterest page to show some dresses I liked. That way, she could custom my appointment and pick dresses that would suit me. Every single dress that Kate picked, I liked. She was open and fun during the appointment. My bridesmaids, Mom and MIL enjoyed her, she was upbeat and just fit right now. My little sister found a dress that she wanted me to try one, which totally ended up being "the one." The dressing rooms, mirrors, entire shop was beautiful and welcoming. Walking in and seeing smiling faces just started the day off right. Kate was great with pictures, boomerangs, and then kept in contact with me to order my dress. I cannot say enough good things about Kate, the other staff at Michelle's and the entire experience. Now, unfortunately, life can sometimes hit you pretty hard, and for my family, it has about flattened us. My little sister (yeah, the one who picked out my beautiful wedding dress) passed away very suddenly from a unknown metastatic brain cancer, while carrying her twins. Not only are we grieving my sister, her twins, and the life she left behind (a military husband and two littles boys 3 years old & 20 months old), but we are trying to navigate how we move forward from here. The wedding planning fun went away without my sister. After losing her, my aunt was diagnosed with terminal cancer, so we decided we wanted to move our wedding closer than originally planned. Through all of the turmoil, Michelle's worked so very hard to have my dress come in quicker than ordered. They were compassionate and understanding with both myself and my Mom. They called and checked in numerous times, and they just went above and beyond what they had to do to help my family. It was so nice to have a little light in such a dark part of our life. They are truly a wonderful business, but most importantly, they are wonderful, compassionate people. If you want to buy your wedding dress from this place, I would recommend them. I bought my wedding dress here and a year later my best friend bought her wedding dress here, I've also had other friends purchase their wedding dresses here. We had no problems with those experiences or consultants. However, if you buy bridesmaid dresses here, it is a COMPLETELY different story. The first time I bought a bridesmaid dress from this shop, I was measured, told "in this designer you need a size 8 dress". I don't know these designers, so I figure, okay, that's 3 sizes larger than what I normally wear but a lot of these designers have weird sizing. Cut to the bride picking up my dress while she was getting her wedding dress. She told me it looked like a circus tent and she was coming to my house. She wasn't kidding, this beautiful black strapless bridesmaid dress, was gigantic. I tried it on, zipped it up and it fell completely off of me and onto the floor. Don't bother trying to get a bridesmaid dress altered here either. They don't deal with that. Probably because they would have to alter every single bridesmaid dress that they sell because their consultants don't pay attention to measuring bridesmaids. The second and final ever time I will ever buy a bridesmaid dress from this place is for my best friend's wedding. It started off fine, I was out of state in the 2 months from the time dresses were chosen to when we had to pay the deposit so I ordered my dress over the phone using the measurements from when I bought my wedding dress a year and a half prior. I was told upon paying the deposit the dress would arrive at the shop by mid-June (this was in mid-January), great, I'll be back in town in July and can get the dress then. Wrong. June came and went with no call that the dress had arrived and when I called they told me oh no it will be here July 23, then it was July 30, 31, the bride called and they told her yet another date...August 2. The dress wasn't actually in the shop until August 8. Why give a timeline of delivery if you actually have no clue when it will arrive? I was gone again by the time the dress actually arrived at Michelle's (when I ordered the dress I asked that it be sent directly to my home but they said it HAD to come to them first, then they could ship it to me for an extra $50). Because at this point I am refusing to give them another dime, I had my mom pick up the dress. She asked the girl at the front desk why the delivery date was different every time we called she just stared at my mom, shrugged her shoulders and didn't offer an apology or reason. She stayed silent. My mom also said that because the dress arrived 7 weeks after I was told it was going to they should overnight it to me for free because time for alterations is now short. The girl said they could ship it to me for an additional $20. At this point we didn't trust them to even send it to me before the wedding so my mom ended up shipping it to me herself for 10 bucks. This bride had a junior bridesmaid as well. Her dress was ordered at the same time as the older bridesmaids dresses and was not delivered for an additional 2 weeks. Once her dress arrived, it was discovered that they ordered her dress 3 sizes too small. Every single member of the bridal party needed their dress either taken in or let out because they were measured incorrectly. TLDR: Buy your wedding dress from them. Absolutely do not buy a bridesmaids dress from them if you want it to fit. They only care about measuring when they measure the bride. read more

I had a truly wonderful experience at Michelle's -- thanks to them, I found MY dress! I live in LA but was in Urbana for Thanksgiving with my family. I had an appointment for the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend but found out my mother unexpectedly got Friday off work as well. I called the morning of Black Friday to see if Michelle's could fit me in that day, and Judy got me an appointment that afternoon, no problem! And it only got better from there. Cassidy was a fantastic consultant. She listened attentively when I described what I was looking for, and although the shop was set up a little differently than normal due to the Black Friday sale, she got my mother and me oriented and let us pull our own dresses to try on. Michelle's selection is great and I quickly had to stop myself from pulling dress after dress after dress. Once in the dressing room, Cassidy was enormously helpful and listened to my feedback with each dress, helping me to narrow down my focus. She also was great with suggesting accessories, bringing me different belts and sashes to try on, as well as veils, necklaces, etc. -- all helping to complete "the look" and give me a better idea of what the dress would look like on the big day. I was interested in trying on a birdcage veil and Cassidy quickly brought another consultant over to help with that, as well. I want to start off by saying that I did not purchase my dress here. It was my first stop on my dress hunting adventure. Lauren was the consultant who I worked with. I just want to say, she was awesome! She kept pulling styles close to the ones I liked so I could try more on. The only thing I did not like was that she kept pulling styles over my budget, even though they were only $100 or $200 over, I had already told her that I could NOT go over my budget. There was simply no wiggle room. But she is a saleswoman so she was just doing her job. The shop was clean and organized and they had lots of accessories to try on with the dresses. In the end I found a dress that I really liked, but I found one that literally brought me to tears at another shop. I would definitely recommend them to any bride. read more

So I had an awkward situation. I bought my dress at a David's Bridal in Iowa, but when it traveled to Illinois it got wrinkled. The David's Bridal in Champaign refused to press it because it had been altered outside of David's Bridal (despite the fact that I had called ahead to check that they would). Michelle's, on the other hand, was willing to take my dress despite the fact that I hadn't bought the dress there, they were busy, and I had made no appointment for such services. I went here a while ago, but I wanted to post a review. Basically, they had a good selection, they let me try on a few dresses, they allowed you to take pictures, I didn't feel rushed AND they encouraged me to go home and think about my purchase overnight. After having way too many experiences (myself and going with friends) where I felt like they were just pushing an immediate sale, it was a refreshing change to not feel incredibly pressured and was just able to have fun and feel like I made an informed decision about my dress. They didn't do my alterations, so I can't speak to that, but they did press my dress for me and help me preserve it after the wedding, all which went very well. read more

This place was AWESOME! Not only did they have amazing customer service, they listened to my descriptions of what I liked and didn't like and pulled dresses that matched my style. And the best part...we were an HOUR late to our appointment because of a bad accident that closed the highway. I had every intention of walking in simply to reschedule our appointment as it was getting close to their closing time. BUT they said NO PROBLEM! And they stayed late just so I could get my full appointment in. I never felt rushed or like they weren't giving me the BEST attention. Every single one of the ladies working at this bridal shop was extremely unhelpful. They stood around the counter, stared at me, and offered no help. My mother and I had to ask several times for a room to put our 5+ dresses or to have someone zip up our dresses. No one attempted to offer any sort of help. This was the worst service I have ever received at any dress store. My "exciting" experience of choosing a bridesmaid's dress was ruined by the workers at this place. I would strongly suggest going to a different store if you want to have a nice experience. read more

My experience at Michelle's was disappointing to say the least. My first appointment with a consultant was nightmarish - although she was nice and very sweet, she apparently was't listening to anything I told her. Every overly poufy tacky dress somehow made it into my fitting room, and I felt overwhelmed in a sea of beading, organza and lace. Then, when I stepped out to the pedestal with obvious looks of disgust on my face, the consultant was busy trying to fasten veils on my head! Feeling overwhelmed, I left. My mother and I ended up driving almost two hours to a boutique and ended up falling in love with a dress - that Michelle's carried! It was exactly what I had told my consultant I was looking for, so why I never even tried it on during my first appointment, I have no idea. Regardless, my mother and I decided to order the dress from Michelle's instead because of the closer location. This was probably a mistake. The first time my groom and I went in for his fitting, Monica was rude and acted disinterested in helping us whatsoever. We were not completely sure which tie we wanted to go with, and obviously a five minute discussion about the tie was the most annoying thing Monica has ever had to encounter, because she acted like we were hugely bothersome. (Keep in mind we were the ONLY people in the tux department that evening) Even my groom, who is the most laid-back guy in existence said she acted like we were annoying to her. Fast-forward to two days before our wedding, and half our tuxes didn't fit the groomsmen, or ring-bearer properly. Overall, I would avoid Michelle's if possible. The shop is pretty and some of the consultants are nice, but here is my overall impression: -Not a huge variety of dresses to choose from, especially if you are going for something sophistacted and understated. -Extremely unorganized, disjointed staff -Monica in the tux department is HORRIBLE (as other reviewers have pointed out...I can only wonder, how does this woman still have a job there?) read more

My best friend ordered her wedding gown here and I got to come along for the fun! This was the first place she looked for gowns and we went in on a weeknight after work. The sales professionals were amazingly friendly and didn't hover over us. Nor were they snooty because we were young women in jeans and t-shirts. They offered their assistance and placed her gowns in a very large and comfortable dressing room. Among the racks of choices, she found a gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown for $1100. She tried it on and fell it love, but not with the price. She ended up looking in a few other shops in Rockford, but couldn't stop talking about the dress at Michelle's. A few weeks later, they called to follow up and to let us know about a special sale. All of the try-on dresses were 25% off for one day only! So back we went to see "the" dress and she purchased it that day. Since it was a try-on dress, there were some spots and damage to the corset back. When we went back to pick it up 2 days before the wedding, I was amazed! They cleaned the gown and re-sewed the loose corset ties. No one would have known that this wasn't a brand new dress. My friend had left Champaign and headed to the wedding city when they called to let her know that they had forgotten to include her shoulder wrap. They actually offered to send it to her Next Day Air, but she arranged for me to pick it up. They still get 5 stars because accidents happen, but they handled it in the most professional manner. In a few thousand years when I get hitched, I would most certainly purchase a gown here. I was impressed mostly with their customer service, especially because some stores are only interested in the bride and ignore everyone else. They truly wanted her to find a dress that she loved and didn't push her into buying something she wasn't sure about. read more

I had no expectations when I visited Michelle's but was pleasantly surprised. I was blown away by their preparation prior to my visit. They send you an email asking for your preferences in the type of dress you want, and you can even link your Pinterest account so they have a better idea as to the look and feel you are going for. The minute I walked in, Andria, my stylist had 5 dresses picked out for me based on the survey I filled out before my visit. I loved EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. One of them ended up being the dress I purchased for my big day. I had a very particular style of dress I was looking for, and wanted something unique and different. Michelle's has such a wide variety of styles, and so many beautiful dresses to choose from. The price of my dress was a little over my budget (originally I wanted something under $1,000), but I was so in love with the dress that it didn't matter. I highly highly recommend Michelle's if you are looking for something different and not from a chain store like David's!! read more

I decided to check out Michelle's Bridal and Tuxedo after having bad experiences at other stores. I made an appointment and during the appointment I was able to go around and browse their selection of dresses. My consultant Lauren was extremely nice and helpful! I told her the type of dress I was looking for and she was able to pick out many that I was interested in trying on. I tried on a few in my price range, and then she bought a dress to me that I didn't realize how much it was out of my price range until I tried it on and fell in love. I really did not want to break my price range though. So I decided to come back in a week and try one more dresses. During my second visit, I tried on one of the dresses from the first visit and FELL IN LOVE! I was so happy that I decided to go home and think about the dresses before making a quick decision. Each time I went dress shopping by myself and was SO happy that I did. My consultant was very good at helping me pick out a dress and giving me honest opinions. Although I haven't had alterations done yet. I would recommend Michelle's to all central Illinois brides! Since I haven't done alteration yet, I am giving a 4 out of 5 rating until then. read more
