Late morning stop for breakfast snacks, Mrs, K. enjoyed a latte and a croissant sandwich this…read moremorning. I wasn't hungry at this point which was a bummer as the pastries looks great. Service was very pleasant and friendly. While waiting for the food and beverage, a wander through the attached boutique was enjoyed. Lots of interesting stuff but none of it shouting "Buy me!" today. Inside and outside seating. Wifi, power outlets and a comfortable space. This is enjoyable. [Review 2287 of 2024 - 247 in Alabama - 23302 overall]

There is a little bit of really great seating in the front. A big comfortable couch, a good selection of foods, and a cool vibe. It looks like the kind of place you'd want to come hang out for a bit, even though there's not a ton of seating. I did notice they had fresh wraps as a lunch option with a good selection of chips, and everything looked delicious. Second, the bad: The place doesn't smell like coffee. Mind you, I was only the second customer of the day. But you know when you walk into a great coffee shop, and the smell of good coffee hits you in the face? Yeah, they don't have this. Which means this... most people will like their coffee just fine (we had mochas, so that's really all I can speak to). It's a little sweet, but the flavor is fine. But my mocha doesn't taste like coffee. It tasted like hot chocolate. And it's disappointing to seek out (and pay $5 for) coffee that doesn't taste like coffee. A mocha should have primarily a coffee taste with the mocha second. Again, most people will like this place. But for those of you who really care about coffee, you might want to drive on into Birmingham and try your luck there.

This place was my choice to grab a coffee from on my wait out of Cullman after a short visit. It…read morewas solid! The interior is decorated really nicely, kind of cool and funky vibes with a surprising amount of space available to hang out. Cute merchandise for sale too. I had a little bit of trouble finding the menu but eventually found it on a paper card placed somewhat inconspicuously near the register. I was only interested in coffee but they have a decent selection of cafe-type food and other beverages. They have seasonal specials and more standard, always-available house specials. I selected one of these and got a small iced Turtle latte, which had chocolate, caramel, and praline flavors. I thought service was a little standoffish and put-upon seeming, but I wouldn't say they were rude; just not super welcoming. My drink was made and served quickly and I got back on the road. The drink was good! Nice balance of ice to liquid and a yummy, sweet, rich turtle flavor. There was a slight artificially nutty aftertaste that I'd guess was the praline that I didn't love, but overall this was a solid drink that I'd probably order again. Give them a try if you're in the area.

The staff still seemed irritable and not friendly, which again made us feel more like an inconvenience than customers. We had to ask multiple times about our drinks and food, which was frustrating. Again, the HIGH prices... On the bright side, there's a nice bookish vibe that gives it that cozy feel. With the exposed bricks/ductwork, mismatched secondhand furniture, and a small selection of books, it does seem like a good spot to relax and chat with friends... Still, I'll be looking for a different coffee place next time! Somewhere the employees attitudes match the chill atmosphere.
