I was very blessed to have called his office shortly after a cancellation. Dr. Pratt said I would feel 20% better after the session and I can say without hesitation that I feel more like 50% better. He was able to quell the nervous anxiety that was most likely caused from the sudden death of my 43 year old husband. It is kinda hard to explain exactly how he is able to tap in ( pun intended ) on the elements of my life that were causing me to stall. I am not going to say he cured me , but he did put me in a more relaxing mindset that literally changed my whole perspective today. Just a short response to the earlier review as there is more than one way of looking at the…read moreservices of a Psychologist or Physiatrist. A few years ago I had a bad reaction to an antibiotic that put me into a severe suicidal state. My G.P. prescribed a, pretty common, anti-depressant. That was fine for a few months and in a moment of clarity I realized that the medication was just masking the problem. Meaning there was no end in sight to taking mind altering, prescription, medications. I discussed the issue with a trusted friend and she suggested psychotherapy. I told her that I, personally, knew of people who used psychotherapy to get the past a time of mental crisis. The problem is that many times the crisis didn't pass and some of them found themselves going to monthly sessions for years. I couldn't afford that and didn't want to do it anyway. She then recommended her Psychologist Dr. George Pratt: http://www.drgeorgepratt.com/. Dr. Pratt's main treatment methods involve many forms of Energy Psychology including Emotional Self-Management (from his book Instant Emotional Healing: Acupressure for the Emotions). It didn't take much research to find detailed studies comparing Energy Psychology to the, then, standard treatment method for mental challenges called, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy. The one that convinced me reported that the length of treatment was significantly shorter with Energy Psychology Therapy than with CBT: mean = 3 sessions with Energy Therapy and 15 sessions using CBT. So not only are you out of trouble faster but the cost and time commitment is less than half. Needless to say after a few sessions with Dr. Pratt I was off of medications and back to being my ol' happy self. So do your research.
