He was able to immediately address some issues I had and has been exceptionally supportive since then. Unfortunately, his office's outdated business practices create unnecessary inconveniences for the patient. This is why I have unfortunately chosen to seek a different doctor. Specifically: - he does not accept or bill medical insurance - he does not accept debit/credit cards I've had to pay 100% visit cost in cash upfront with every visit, and then wait for his office staff to mail me a receipt with ICD9 codes for insurance claim purposes. Otherwise, I get zero credit for meeting my annual deductible. These are way too many hoops to jump through when I could just have a simple per-visit copay and let insurance cover the rest. It's a shame that Dr. Penny's office has these policies in place, because I would otherwise be a loyal long-term patient. In 6 sessions, it changed my life. That droning "baseline" anxiety I would always feel is gone, my outlook on life dramatically improved, and I no longer feel irritable. Most ketamine clinics just give you some ketamine and send you on your way (check the therapeutic ketamine subreddit and see what others do). Transcend is unique in that you are talking with a psychotherapist during the entire infusion, which is much more therapeutic than ketamine, alone. Then there's Will. He's the head nurse on staff at Transcend. He goes out of his way to make sure you are getting the most out of your therapy.
