He's a very knowledgeable person not only about fitness and he seems to actually care about your fitness journey. He's an excellent trainer as well and very personable. The place is always clean and has key fob 24/7 access. Its not a mega gym but it has everything you will need to start or continue on your fitness quest. Highly recommend.

It's a fairly small place, but it's got what I need: treadmills, bikes and elliptical trainers, and a nice selection of weight machines and free weights. Daily classes for those who want them, along with a tanning room and individual showers/changing rooms. Dan and Gisela, the owners, are there daily, they'll greet you when you walk in, and they work hard to keep the place nice. I see a lot of the same people there from day to day, and it's a nice change from the slightly cheesy meat-market atmosphere I've encountered at some other gyms other the years. Like I said, no BS here -- just the stuff you need to stay fit, in a safe, clean, welcoming environment. One last comment: I usually visit in the mornings, and there is never a crowd or a problem accessing equipment, even when school is in. It's a bit more crowded in the evenings, but I have never waited more than a couple of minutes for a treadmill. There's 24 hour access by key card, too. If you need a pool, a sauna, a country-club locker room, or some exotic piece of high-tech fitness machinery, this isn't the place. Otherwise, give it a try!

Tribe Fitness has changed everything I ever thought about working out. Honestly, it's changed my…read morelife. I know that sounds crazy, but let me explain. I've dealt with injuries my whole life. I love running outside, but it seems that my tendons and joints weren't able to handle it. I would end up with knee pain, Achilles' tendonitis, or a hamstring tear and have to stop running for a few weeks. Every time I would lose all my momentum. I could never succeed in a consistent running program, now matter how slowly I progressed through it. And of course, running indoors on the treadmill or elliptical is SO BORING! Trying to go consistently to the gym was impossible for me. I'd either end up injured or make excuses not to go. The solution to ALL of my problems was Tribe. I've never been to a gym that I've been EXCITED to go workout in with a staff that cares so much. Here's a few reasons why I love it. 1) Matt and Ruthie are absolutely AMAZING trainers. They always take the time to teach us how to do the workouts with proper form, and they watch us every second to make sure we maintain it. They constantly give helpful tips and tricks on how to lift safely (which is incredibly important). And the best part is that they're always so encouraging through the workout. They genuinely want you to succeed! 2) Tribe workouts are SO MUCH FUN!!!! Every time I finish a workout I can't WAIT to go again. Yes they're challenging and kick my butt, but you're only there for 45 minutes and the WODs are no more than 25 minutes. It makes it possible for you to push yourself for the entire workout. We do something different every day, so that means I'm always learning something new or improving on something. It works your brain and your body. I've never gotten bored in a Tribe workout! Plus nothing can describe the happiness I felt when I mastered kipping pull ups and double unders. 3) Tribe is for everyone. Seriously. The workouts are hard, but the trainers will scale down the weight or technique so it's just right for you, and you can progress and build as you get stronger and more comfortable. The first few weeks are tough because you're challenging your body in completely new ways, but once you get adjusted it feels AMAZING. I haven't run in 6 months and I was able to run an 8:47 minute mile (my fastest before was an 11:30 after 2 months of running, and then I got injured). Yowza! The workouts are always hard, but as you gain strength it becomes quite bearable and now, I absolutely love the intensity! 4) Finally, my favorite part: no injuries!!!!! I'm getting stronger every week, lifting more weight and reaching PR's, gaining muscle. It's made a huge difference. I've never been able to work out for 3 months straight, 3 times a week without getting injured. And now, I'm finally there. I'm never going back to a regular gym. Ever.

Every time I've stepped into the gym over the past month and a half, I've been met with supportive coaches and encouraging athletes. You can expect a challenging workout (lots of variety!) where everyone roots for each other. I'm always in awe of the athletes around me and never feel like I'm being judged for scaling/modifying a workout to make it more successful. The gym schedule is also a big perk: I take the 5am crossfit classes during the week (thanks for the early classes that fit a teacher's schedule!) and love the yoga & aerobic conditioning options over the weekend. Thanks again to the CFL team and community!

I started at Liberate 2 months ago after moving to Athens. My husband and I tried out all the crossfit type gyms in the area and Liberate felt like exactly what we wanted in a gym: great programming, nice people, up-to-date equipment, and a sense of community. While I had been active with crossfit for 2 years, I had just come off a 9 month break due to some back issues (non-crossfit related). I felt as if I understood the movements and starting at Liberate would just mean "getting back in to it" and learning very little. After being at Liberate for just 2 months I am shocked at how much my form has improved. The coaches are competent, attentive, nice, and a whole lot of fun. I thoroughly enjoy heading to class!
