I have been a member of this YMCA for years, and I proudly recommend it to everyone. If you can not…read moreafford the membership fee, ask someone at the front desk about a program to help you with the cost. Don't let the membership fee be the reason you don't join. This is a state of the art facility which offers elliptical machines, steppers, treadmills, several machines whose names I don't know, free weights, weight machines in two different areas/rooms, TRX, CrossFit, racquetball, handball, an indoor pool, an indoor therapy pool, an indoor track, a basketball gym (also for volleyball), an outdoor water park (like) area for kids where adults can also go to lay out in the sun, etc., sauna rooms for men and women (separate), steam rooms for men and women (separate), locker rooms, showers, child care, team sports, meeting rooms and more that I am probably leaving out. The staff is top notch. Always eager to help, they are courteous and respectful. A better group of people you won't find than the folks at this Y. And one thing I have really grown to appreciate over the years...they are always updating/upgrading the facility and the equipment. Nothing stays for a long time; it is replaced with a newer and better version. This is nice, I don't take it for granted. And something else to consider when joining a gym...when you join the YMCA, you are supporting an organization that helps in the development of young girls and boys through sports and camps, etc. It's not like Gold's or Coop's...the YMCA is actually making a difference in the community. It's something to think about before spending your money.

My mother in law brought me there for their Zumba class that morning. I found it to be more challenging and unique since they used very light weights in some parts of the class. It was a different pace than what I was used to because I think the demographic of the class was a bit older. I still thought the instructor did a good job. My only complaint is how slippery the floors were.

The gym is ALWAYS clean, the equipment is well-kept, and it's never over-crowded. The staff are kind and courteous which is also a plus. The gym is 24-hours which is great for me since I'm at the gym at 4:30am on most weekdays. All in all, the actual gym experience is great and the value (I think it's only like $30/month) is unbelievable. What people mention about ABC Financial is true - they're a mess. But that's not really Coop's fault. ABC Financial is pretty much a corporate standard (unfortunately) for most independent fitness centers, so you can't fault Coop's for that.

So I've gotten over my disgruntlement as a visitor and became a member. The gym is spacious so…read moresocial distancing is fairly easy. Equipment is in good shape and there's a lot of it, so that's all good. In reality, this is probably a 3-star place due to some small things that would be fixable if there were staff there 24/7. The first point is that the music is too loud in the weight area. It competes with your earbud, forcing you to turn up your own volume to compensate. Everyone wears earbuds anyway, so why not turn the music down? The second point is some damn annoying members, who lack gym etiquette. Leaving weights on stations after they're finished is the first grievance, and many members do it. The second one is specific to one person... he's a screamer (and not in a good way). Even if he's not lifting, but his partner is lifting, he will scream and shout. It turns people off and I've talked to the GM about it but nothing has changed. You can literally hear him from across the gym. That same guy also leaves stuff sitting ON several stations at a time. Not on the floor, but ON the equipment. This prevents them from being used without moving their stuff (which is a gym faux pas). Because these are not technically the issued the business, I gave them 4-stars. They could easily be 5-stars if they addressed some fairly easy issues.

I always find something different at each crunch location and I liked this bench with weights attached which made it multifunctional. I did find it a bit lacking on leg machines as a couple were also out so I didn't get to do many leg exercises. Overall it was what we needed to get a quick work out in.
