I can't believe the ratings for this shop that are anything less than 5 stars! These 1 star reviews are truly so opposite of everything I've experienced with both locations I almost feel like it's got to be a rival business or something. TJ and everyone at Michalak's in Harlerysville are honest, trustworthy, hardworking, beyond kind and caring! I've never had mechanics that look out for my safety and well being like a family member and aren't out to take every penny out of your pocket! I hope my detailed experience below helps you know Michalak's is not the 1 star people are leaving. I'm a woman who doesn't know anything about cars and when my car broke down I brought a car in cash from an unscrupulous man who said it was his late father in laws with low miles and good upkeep. I took it to Michalak's for inspection and they called me and told me I brought a disaster and I was devastated. TJ and the guys broke down all the repairs and work needed by essentials and worked super hard to help me afford to just get the car to pass inspection and be safe on the road to drive. They went out of their way to create a schedule for the repairs that fit what I could afford each month. As I drove the car and more things began to go wrong I called them with every knock or thump I heard and they always took my calls and advised me, TJ always said "call us anytime, we're never to busy to answer your questions and concerns and make sure you're safe when you're on the road!" I paid a little over $3,000 for the car and to pass inspection it cost $1,500 and it still had at least $2,500 in repairs to be done and when I called about the newest issue of the fuel tank being on empty but fueling would shut off after 2 seconds of attempting to put gas in! TJ didn't think 1 second about the money the shop could make but spoke to me honestly and told me to think about the money I'd already put into the car and what still had to be done. He told me as a mechanic that car was prone to issues and was a nightmare for the pocketbooks of owners and said he'd feel horrible taking my money and repairing a car that's constantly going to be in the shop with issues that tend to get worse as the years go by. Does that sound like a mechanic that's overpricing and breaking things so you have to come back? After that phone call I hit every form and video I could on that car and it's issues and undoubtedly would have spent at minimum $6,000-$8,000 in repairs had it not been for TJ's honesty and caring. That nightmare was a year ago! I ended up back in the world of car payments but couldn't be happier. My new car just began making noises and after doing digging on forums I thought it could be an issue with the sway bar link and of course I called TJ up right away and he just called me and told me everything's fine and he saw no issues. I know nothing about cars he could have said it was the sway bar link and charged me for work that never needed to be done but TJ and all the mechanic's at Michalak's don't treat their customers like that! They are honest, caring, kind men of integrity who take pride in their work and treatment of their customers. JT and the mechanics at Michalak's don't even know I'm ill, but my chemo port is directly above my sternum and I'm 5'1 so an accident with airbag deployment is lethal for me. Car repairs, maintenance, and safety literally are life and death to me and I will never take my car anywhere but Michalak's! read more

Took forever to get it repaired and tripkle the original estimate, and the guy behind the counter sucked hard

For many years I have to taken our vehicles to the former Just Cruisin, which now Michaleks. When a business changes ownership, there is always a transitioning phase. This is a series of events that has caused me to leaves Michaleks and bring my business to a new service center that came with very high recommendations. Brought my 2019 Jeep in for routine oil change and upon inspection was told my transfer case was leaking and should be replaced. I said to myself, let me get a second opinion. Took my Jeep back to the dealership where purchased and I asked for an inspection. They inspected the transfer case and said everything is fine, it is not leaking and does not need to be replaced. They printed out the report for me. I then took this report back to Michaleks and showed it to them, their response, was " I guess we learned something". My Jeep overheated and it was required to replace the radiator. In retrospect the radiator was covered under warranty. Recent oil change asked only that the oil to be changed and tires rotated. Upon state inspection from dealership, both the rear and front brakes were on the edge of being replaced, asked them to replace the rear brakes. Upon their inspection, they sent to me pictures of a urgent need to replace the right control arm bushings and the recommendation to replace the struts. The Jeep tracks fine, no sound, and the steering is perfect. They stated I must have hit something and the Jeep is potentially unsafe to drive. I did not hit anything. However they did test drive the vehicle with the newly replaced rear brakes and released it back to me. I have now established a business relationship with a new service center. Told them to take the day to inspect my Jeep on everything. It turns out nothing is wrong other than the recommendation to replace now the front brakes and put on new tires. The new service center has now replaced the front brakes and put on new tires and balanced all. Since then I have put on around 200 plus miles with no issue in regards to steering and handling. read more

Lots of advertising, but horrible service. After 6 days to correct a fluid leak, the car was returned with a different leak requiring a tow and repair bill from another shop. So much for their "quality check" process. Note the newer reviews are negative. Bad business practices (looking to sell additional services before addressing original request), poor communication, and questionable integrity. If that wasn't enough, they failed to honor their $50 mailed coupon. read more

Every vehicle I have heard that has been to this shop has been quoted $3,000 or more. Keep looking for an honorable shop. Dont waste any time or money at this shop. After being quoted over $5,000 to fix a 2013 with less than 50,000 miles in the vehicle, I was charged $350 to get the keys back with absolutely no work being done whatsoever. Took our car for inspection. Had no issues until they called and said I needed a battery, tires, etc. Our car has under 60,000 miles. They put in a 24 month battery at a cost of $434 dollars and 4 tires @851.96 that can be purchased at Walmart!! I asked for written warranties and was told they don't put warranties in writing. Also charged $5 to reset the oil light!! Total bill over $1700!!!! I spoke with friends over dinner...2 other friends experienced the same scenario. One had a bill for $1400 and another $1600! Needless to say we won't be going back here. Beware...GOOD reviews are probably for the previous owner Rick who sold to Michalak's a few years ago. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before taking my car in for service. My battery light kept coming on, so I had the battery replaced and also had the alternator checked, and they were both fine. So I took my car to Michalak's and asked them to check the wiring, as the battery and alternator were fine. Instead of checking the wiring, they ran diagnostic tests that indicated I needed an alternator. After paying $1,914.59 and driving my car two blocks down the street, the battery light came on. I took the car back, and they replaced a cable and terminal for an additional cost of $33.82 in parts plus labor for an additional cost of $346.50. If they had done what I asked them to do, I would have been very pleased with their service. Instead they ripped me off, and the repair cost me a total of $2,271.09. read more

another mechanic who is happy to charge thousands of dollars to do imaginary repairs. got my car inspected by michilaks today , and better than eighty percent of the work they say needs to be done is baloney. their mechanic claims he couldn't open the drum brakes, so they need to be completely replaced. but i got them open at home, how can that be? the mechanic says i need a complete replacement of the whole front suspension when the only flaw is some dry rot on the sound deadening material. no mechanical damage, no widespread corrosion, no oil leaks from the seals, and the performance is good. it is too bad there isn't some form of justice system to control the amount of incompetence involved in this auto extortion racket. and michilaks is another bottom feeder that profits from having the citizen over a barrel. at least that is the experience i am having. read more

I've been search for a service station that I could have confidence in. I've always admired the property that is Michalak Service Station, so I stopped by to have a chat with them and discuss what service I was interested in. We had a good discussion, I made an appointment and was encouraged. I dropped my 2003 Ford Excursion for service and inspection on Feb 20, 2020. I was waiting for the call to tell me the car was ready for pickup, but instead got a call that one of my wheels fell off! Apparently, it wasn't secured properly when taken off the lift, and the wheel fell off and broke 3 bolts from the hub. They searched for a replacement wheel (after market) but said they couldn't find any with my lug spacing. They knew someone who could fix the wheel and said they would keep the vehicle a couple of days. A week later, they said the repair wasn't possible and they had another idea to have the lug holes re-machined from the same wheel with a different lug pattern, then repainted. 4 weeks later, I was finally able to take receipt of my replacement wheel and be able to drive my truck again! It was very frustrating not being able to do work where I needed my truck. After all of that time, they still expected me to pay for the original inspection and service. Unbelievable. read more

These guys are a complete fraud. I took in my bmw 330 and he tried to charge me 7,000 to fix up a car I got for 4,500. Went to the autobahn bmw and they charged 2,500. Stay far, far away from these crooks. read more

Jared is a HACK!!!! Took my son's Jeep into be inspected for a small hole in the frame (1/2 inch at best) and a parking brake issue. I told Jared to let me know what it would cost to repair, 3 hours later I was informed that it would be $975 to fabricate a piece if U channel and weld it on. After getting another quote from the photo of about $500 and not wanting to spend $1000 on a small fame hole I decided to take it to a fabrication shop for the work to be done by someone skilled in this type of repair. After getting to the fab shop I looked at the hole and now its 8 inches long and the entire with of the frame. This guy is pleasant enough but he HACKED my frame (see pic's below). Now I want to know WHY when pricing a job you hack up someones frame like this. As for as the parking brake they pulled it apart and cant get parts. So no work was done except to cut a gaping hole in the frame. He never even told me he hacked the frame to "inspect" it, and just let my 18 year old drive it away. This man lacks character. His comment to me was I do my work RIGHT, so I guess if he feel he needs to cut you car in half, I guess he's "right"! I wouldn't let this guy work on my little red wagon. For all of this stellar craftsmanship I only had to pay $340 and that's quite a deal for a hole like this in your fame. I may have speak with my lawyer. These guys were such a great help. I drive a lot to get to two different jobs and my car started having issues during the end of my work day (at about four pm). I had to search for the closest mechanic to my house that was still open and willing to help because my car wasn't going to go much further. I've been totally screwed over in the past so I was really nervous about going to someone new but I didn't have much choice. They were the second place I called that had decent to excellent reviews (the first one was extremely rude and kept cutting me off as I was trying to explain my situation). Without any hesitation they told me to come in so they could look at it. They were straight up honest with me, explained in full detail what needed to be done and what they were going to do and were very understanding. I was able to pick up my car the next day and they even waited for fifteen minutes past closing for me since I was running late stuck at work. They discussed my pricing options, knocked the price down as far as they could (considering I have multiple problems stemming from former mechanics crappy fixes) and were able to diagnose problems I've been complaining about for years. I left my car there feeling like it was finally in good hands. And they didn't disappoint me. I am so grateful to them...I can't even express how much better of an experience this was for me. You can tell they really care about their customers. I finally found somewhere that has the same devotion in keeping my car running properly and safe that I do.
