I was very unsatisfied with my experience today in Michael's. I needed help finding pencils and the woman at the register said where to find the pencils very snidely. I think she needs some training on how to deal with people and customer service. I have worked in customer service for years and I'm definitely much younger than her and I have more experience how to treat customers nicely. And of course always be helpful. That's your entire job. I think she needs a talk from the manager on how to talk to customers nicely. Just wanted to give some feedback and critiquing. read more

I am a professional artist and I was looking for the same type of artist supplies I find at Michael's 6th Ave in NYC. This is mostly shop for frames and party supplies. It does have some paints, brushes etc but it's not a serious art supply store like the one that used to be on Main Street in Bridgeport. read more

If we could give 10 Stars we would, but the most is 5 Stars........ My husband and I were looking for a quality frame for our son's certificate from the State of Connecticut Superior Court. It had to look professional but be reasonably priced, too. In our search we found Michael's Craft Store located in Westport. We initially expected to purchase a mat and a picture frame to bring home. Then we would put everything together ourselves. Store employee extraordinaire named JoJo offered to show us mats and frames. She patiently waited as we placed several mats over his certificate to choose a suitable color. She suggested that we go with a black mat and indeed she was correct! JoJo patiently answered our questions, scanned prices, and at her recommendation, we agreed to buy UV-protection glass so that the certificate would not yellow in direct sunlight. To our surprise (and relief!) JoJo removed the old glass from the picture frame we purchased, cut out a new UV-protection glass to size, and placed the certificate into it. The result was amazing (see attached photo). Our son's certificate looks absolutely beautiful in the frame with the mat that JoJo recommended to us. She was such a pleasure to work with and we hope that her store manager recognizes her for her outstanding service. JoJo, thank you for going the "extra mile" for us!!!!! read more

Such a great art store. I've been here for years, and it's always been a great experience. The aisles are stocked to the brim with excellent art supplies, the employees are helpful and friendly, and the amount of projects that you can start from these materials is amazing. The store is always super clean and the aisles are super organized, and it's easy to locate what you want here. I usually buy drawing supplies here, and the selection is great. There's loads of pens, markers, and drawing notebooks that are of excellent quality, and the employees often make some great recommendations as to what materials are best for a project. This is the best art store in the area by a long shot. read more

First of all i really don't even want to post 1 star but have to or it won't let me post my review on the westport ct Michaels . i sent my husband to Michaels to get 8 Skeins of yarn for me as i was home sick . He either lost the receipt or threw it out by mistake . 4 of the 8 skeins were not the correct color ! i just went yesterday to Michael's in westport ct to return the 4 skeins for the exact same yarn but the correct color bernat in vintage . the store was almost totally empty and had to hunt for a employee as everything is self check out on a kiosk . i was not sure how to do a even exchange on there so after 10 minutes of going down every aisle trying to find an employee i find one . the young girl who later i find out is Melissa the manager . she proceeds to tell me she cannot just do an even exchange cause i do not have the receipt . so she said that will mess up my inventory cause they r different colors . i ask cant u go in and change the colors for your inventory she said no . she said i will have to charge u 3.00 more per skein i said different colors r more money she says no . i then ask for a manager she says i am the manager . i said all i want to do is get these 4 skeins of the correct color for the same price as they r the same exact yarn but a different color . she said no can't do that i kept asking why she starts waving her hand bye bye and says don't come back . i had a bunch of stuff to purchase too and said about her inventory theory how u order on line it says u carry 10 of them you get to the store and they have 1 or 2 and say someone should of called you which they do not has happened numerous times to me . i have never been treated so rudely as a senior citizen in my life ! i waved back and told her i would never be back or buy anything again from Michaels ! as i was shaking as i got into my car with my 4 skeins of the wrong color bernat yarn.i have. ever been treated so badly and disrespected as a senior citizen . when i got into my car i was shaking i went on the Michaels website to see a 20 % coupon for regular priced items all that manager had to do was say listen let me use my 20% coupon and you should not have to pay any extra for your yarn but instead waved bye bye to me how insulting ! the customer service was terrible and i and my family will no longer be customers at any Michael stores . I'm so conflicted about this store. The Stamford Michael's is so much better than this location (I think it might be bigger, I don't know). Every time I come in, what I want is not in stock or that they have a small collection of what I'm looking for. I usually write reviews only on small business and whatnot, but I had to come on here and give an amazing review for this Michaels store. My fiance requested I do this, too! We were so elated with the customer service. We had purchased tons of silk flowers for our wedding centerpieces a few months back and were totally good-to-go until it came time to MAKE them and we realized how terrible they looked inside of the tower vases we purchased. As a bride two weeks out from her wedding, I was panicking like no one's business. I ended up taking one of the silk flower bouquets for my bridesmaids and putting it in the vase (for safe keeping) and it looked AMAZING. I started searching for the bouquets online and they were sold out everywhere and not available for online purchase. I called this store on a whim and they dug through to find TWELVE of them. They were helpful in putting them on hold until my fiance could come down to purchase and were even accommodating in returning/exchanging the original florals we no longer wanted (despite their receipt being a few months old). It was just one less stress for us and we were so grateful for the amazing service at such a hectic time. We would never have anything but wonderful things to say about the customer service staff at this store and their professionalism and business courtesy. read more

Something about going into a Michaels store makes me want to take up all kinds of projects. If only I had the time! As with all Michaels, there are always restrictions on their coupons, making it rare that I can ever use one. They have a good, but not great art supply. More extensive selection of items in other departments. This location does have abundant parking. I have been there on more than one occasion and never can I find help on the floor without great difficulty. I too have had less than stellar experience with the cashiers there. However, I will be back due to the location. And it's the only place to go for so many of their products. Hopefully the staffing will improve. Although the coupon practices have been difficult for as long as I can remember. read more

This is a review of the employees at michaels on wednesdays around lunchtime. They were so helpful and caring. Somehow I managed to slice my finger open somewhere in the store, I can't remember doing it, I thought I just carelessly hit my hand on something walking around. I flagged down a young woman (and regret I didn't get her name) and asked her if she could direct me to a tissue or something because I was bleeding and indicated my finger. She immediately walked me back to the framing section where she said she had a first aid kit, then directed me to a bathroom nearby where I could clean the cut first. She put antiseptic on my hand and applied a bandage. Another young man was there after I got out of the bathroom and was asking if I was ok, apologizing, I wonder if he is the manager. Anyway, they were so helpful and concerned and mostly I was just embarrassed I had been so careless, and thanked them and went off to pay. I was just very impressed with the quick reaction and genuine concern. Good people working there!! read more

First, the quality of the beads are VERY, very poor. When I went to pay, the cashier answered a phone call talking to a potential customer about some items. I put my items on the counter and started to walk out. Then she hung up and waited on me. Why would she put a POTENTIAL sale over an actual sale? Back to buying my supplies on line. Great new Michael's in a convenient Westport location (same complex as Westport Home Goods) with lots of parking. Very helpful, upbeat, friendly staff at this location who seem to enjoy being there and helping customers, vis-a-vis the Norwalk store where there is never a staffer to be found and all seem to hate their jobs and detest helping actual customers. So very happy to have this new Michael's option for art supplies, framing, and crafting supplies. Four stars because Michael's is pricier than, say, Hobby Lobby (but which is a half an hour or so drive) so watch for Michael's frequent sales that are often 40% to 60% off (sign up for their email notifications for sales.) Still, the pain is that typically customers must have that week's coupon in hand, either hard copy or on a smart phone; they don't typically have extra coupons at the registers or the ability to give the weekly discount if you, say, didn't anticipate doing a Michael's run and thus don't have that week's coupon on you. Michael's also has a decent custom framing department; again, wait for their frequent 60%+ off sale because their framing can be pricey. Awesome selection of art supplies -- paints, canvases, brushes and everything and anything you might need for your creative work-in-progress. Pleasant vibe at this Michael's.
