ok so I don't ever write reviews, but felt the need to write about this place.
TL;DR: went to get a fresh cut, came out with an eye full of blue goop and a hella crooked haircut. Nice people though.
So I came in because of the price and the $14 and the 4.5 stars.
I told my barber that I wanted a short side while the top remained long and hangs over the side. He did the sides and the back well, but there still was a lot on the top so I asked him to cut some of it. He did, and the strange thing was that I was angled to the side in my chair and I wasn't able to see the haircut 80% of the time. Also, throughout the cut, he dropped his clippers/combs maybe 4-5 times. After cutting a bunch off, he showed me the front and the sides and it looked so fucked up ahaha. I am not one to care too much about hair, but to anyone's standards it looked fucked up. Was a bowl cut in the front but with the hair still long on the sides so it looked like i had a helmet of black hair. I laughed it off and asked him to cut the sides, as I didn't think that he had cut asian hair before, and I showed him a picture for reference.
He said he understood and confidently cut the sides, at the angle where I couldn't see the mirror once again. He cut the sides and then moved the chair where I was facing the mirror. It looked marginally better. At the best, it was a poorly cut bowl cut. I told him that I wasn't particular about hair and gave him one last try to just fix it up to the best of his ability and do it in a style he's used to. He cut my hair finally with me facing the mirror, while apologizing. While he struggled to get this pretty gross comb that still had clumps of hair out of a blue cleaning solution, he moved it to my hair and a big glob of the solution got in my eye, which stung like hell. He gave me a tissue while apologizing and I dabbed my left eye of the solution, but I couldn't open that eye for the next 10 minutes because it stung so badly.
He continued to cut my hair, while occasionally saying "fuck" and "shit" which was either directed towards the haircut or the news that was playing in the background.
not what you want to hear someone say when they're cutting your hair.
gave him the benefit of the doubt, and when he finished, I saw that it still looked really shitty. I decided to take my losses and after putting some gel in the hair it looked somewhat presentable.
The barber was really a nice dude, and I would want to give him another star for being a solid dude, but the rest of the experience, especially regarding the blue solution that got in my eye makes me rate it a low 1 star.
I'm not angry about it tbh, but I felt it was necessary to give a review as most people gave this place a 5 or 4 star rating. I understand that it definitely wasn't his best haircut, and that he could probably cut a fresh haircut. just wasn't the case for me. Even for someone who doesn't really care about my hair that much, this was pretty rough. the hair, along with the experience made me write this review. If you guys want to see the final result, maybe I'll post it if this review is helpful. Definitely gave me a good laugh. read more
