This is my 2nd time coming here and each time no one is any help, and the employees are obnoxious. the saddest part is that even the manager acts the same way!! Lots of sales. Right now they have 40-60% off Christmas merchandise. I always spend at least an hour in Michael's each time I go. Look for their sale items and be sure to use their coupon (40% off one regular item). Great deal! I got a bunch of Christmas bags & decorations all for under $20 total to decorate my tree. This store is a bigger Michael's than the one I usually go to in Elk Grove. Their selection is very nice. There are a variety of stuff here that I hardly find in other stores. I'm not sure if that's a good thing for the store. They have sales because everything is much more expensive here than if you went to Walmart, for instance. Their prices are very comparable to Joann's or Hobby Lobby. So if you're looking for your normal party planning or scrapbooking items I would try looking here. I wish someone would update this store info.. I don't live in Stockton any more and I went to this store from Chili's to return a gift that was sold to me with the wrong accessories. One employee came to the door and said we are closed. Then another girl came to the door to say they are closed. The staff were friendly and helpful. That being said, my one gripe is they NEVER have the instax camera film in stock. They have the cameras, but no film to go along with it which is ridiculous. Wasted a lot of gas coming here multiple times only to be disappointed. I always have to go to Walmart and purchase film there. read more

This store is heaven for a preschool teacher. I love to go and just walk around for an hour or more. I go through the store and back again just looking at the deals. Love when the holiday stuff is on sale. I got the cutest wreath that was originally $70 but I spent less than $30 for it! I wish it was Christmas everyday just to keep it up!!! read more

The store is big. The selection is pretty good. Too bad everything looks a little dingy. Their open stock paper was in a bit of disarray - wrong colors in wrong spaces, etc. Then, when I thought I found the perfect paper, I noticed every sheet in the stack had a big crease in it, like it had been carelessly stocked. I always feel like I'm lost in here because the store is huge with stuff everywhere! It's sometimes hard for me to tell what section I'm looking for.. but in general I'm only really looking for paper supplies or Wilton items. There always seems to be a large line when I come here, and for the most part I TRY to come when it's not busy so I don't have to stand in a line that wraps around 1/4 of the store haha! In comparison to JoAnn's, I like that the wedding/Wilton supply sections are larger here and there is more to choose from. I usually just stay near JoAnn's though because it's closer to home. read more

If you have a framing project that matters, DO NOT use Michael's. I completed a piece of needlework for my daughter's 5th wedding anniversary and took it to Michaels for framing. Upon arrival I reiterated ad nauseum that I had to have it by a certain date in order to ship it in time for their anniversary. I was assured that the framing would be done on time, however, they proceeded to lose the order in their computer. Two days before I was to pick up the project, I received a call letting me know that there was a delay. It seems they had just discovered artwork with no order attached. This took over a week for them to figure out. I was told by the framing manager, Bianca, that she had spoken to her regional manager and received permission to have the frame overnight mailed and it was due to be in on Monday, June 7th. She stated she would call me on Monday NO MATTER WHAT to give me an update. No call came today. I went to the store and was told that she had called in sick. If you are a manager, your job is not 9 to 5. You do what it takes to make sure your store or department continues to run the way it's supposed to even if that means you are doing things from home while sick. Especially if you already have a customer who is upset. Needless to say, I did not receive the framing project in time to ship it. If you have special, personal framing do not go to Michael's. Take it to a real framing shop who will make sure you have it on time. This experience has been completely unacceptable and I am currently waiting for a call from the regional manager, Joseph, whom I doubt will call. read more

Love this store! Whether I am shopping for art supplies, frames, materials for classes, bead supplies, instructional books, etc, I am always amazed at their inventory and cleanliness. Their staff keep it very well organized despite the crowds, and I am often totally amazed at even esoteric products that they keep in inventory (such as a huge variety of glues that work on many different surfaces). Staff are very helpful and the weekly sales help for those on a budget. They even have a huge row of items costing $1. read more

Called this store 1/2 hour before closing to ask if they had a specific color of shredded basket filler in stock since I don't live in the area and didn't want to make an unnecessary trip. Girl made me repeat my request 3 times as she was talking to someone else while "listening" to me. When she finally understood what I was inquiring about she said "we don't carry that" without even leaving the phone to check. I know all stores carry basket filler so my call was obviously interfering with her conversation with the other party. Worst service at a Michael's...ever! My local stores in Modesto and Turlock go out of their way to help customers!!! read more

Do yourself a favor, and do not go into Michael's Arts and Crafts store in Stockton California! I stood there for almost 45 minutes puzzled as to where certain items were, walked around the store several times for a sales person, but not one in sight! There was a little red button to push in the bead department if you wanted service, so I pressed it four times and waited about 15 minutes but no one ever showed up! I had to use the restroom at that point so I strolled around the store again and again not one person in sight except for the two gals behind the registers! I finally went over to one of them and asked if I could use the restroom and she opened the door for me. (thank goodness)! I also asked her if there was someone who could help me and she told me "no" and that the only two employees in the store was her self and one other woman on the registers! I parked my basket full of contents near the restroom, and when I came out, I thought to myself, I am going to Hobby lobby where you will see at least 10 employees out on the floor at one time! BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE: I just walked into Michaels on Hammer and walked out very unsatisfied!! I needed help ordering online and they turned me away and said they don't do that here. That being, help customers order online. 1st of all, what century are we living in where they don't have an updated system? Secondly, the MOD should/would have handled that more professionally or friendly. Like at the very least apologize for the inconvenience and cradle my need better. It was horrible customer service, I felt left out in the cold with this experience. They didn't care to help, they didn't even ask what it was that I needed or offer to call another store, nothin! I wanted to order some wooden letters online, in-store they just have them all (A-Z) thrown in a box, not separated as I've seen in other Michaels. I dont often shop here but wanted a planner they had advertised 50% off all up and down the aisle. Went to pay didnt ring up on sale. I told the cashier how they were marked. She graciously was going to honor the 50% off because she knew the signs were still up by mistake. The guy cashier next to her which i assume was a assistant manager (?) said they were no longer on sale but would too be ok honoring the 50% off. Instead of leaving it to as "the customer is always right " he went to the aisle and grabbed a 12 month planner came back to the register as i was being ringed up (i was purchasing a 18 month one) and stated "its the 12 month ones that were on sale but i will still honor it so next time look for the sticker." Ok ill remember that in 18 months Lol. Thank you for correcting my mistake for your false advertisement mistake cause no where did I see on the sale markings in the aisle did it say 12 month only. I'm rating this store with a 1 star because of poor service. 2 different times. First time, I tried to buy wedding favors, and I found perfect ones, and when we tried to pay for them, they said they were recalled and couldn't buy them. I know they can't handle the recall, but it was handled poor. Then on a separate occasion today, I called to see if they had another box of wedding favors. I had already bought 4 boxes 2 weeks ago. I gave them the item number, the barcode, every number they can use to find it in their system. Then they said they went to look for the item (I described it as descriptive as I could. A mason jar with a latch, round, about 6-8in tall, and it's a pack of 18) they said they couldn't find them anywhere and it's not in their system. Well I go inside the store about 10 min after getting off the phone, and I FOUND 4 BOXES where they're supposed to be. Worst customer service I've ever gotten. I looove coming to Michael's. I think there was actually a time where you could maybe-possibly even say I was a little obsessed. Hahah. I get emails all the time about how they're having yet ANOTHER 40% off coupon and I can't resist. I like to make cards and I find myself coming here often to get things that I need or look for inspiration. However, it is a bit disappointing that their stamps and paper punches are a bit on the limited side, especially after they relocated the stamp section to a corner. They only have a very small section of acrylic stamps, mostly from Inkadinkado and Recollection's. As for the paper punches, they have the more typical ones.. but I've been into the EK Success slim punches lately. If you're a Martha Stewart fan though, they have a HUGE selection of her stuff (patterned papers, punches, stickers, glitter, etc). Like a few aisles worth?? But usually if I know it's not at Michael's, I prefer to drive to Joann's where they have a larger selection of rubber and acrylic stamps and the EK Success slim punches. read more
