Although it is often hard to find someone to help you in the aisles at the store at 2233 Summer St., I definitely got lucky at my last visit. I "found" Angelina a few times when I needed help. She was very helpful in directing me to the proper aisles, advising what product I should use for a project, and even once walking me to that area and answering my questions about those products (letter decals and dowels for a poster). She made my visit stress-free. The young man at the cash register, also, was great in answering a couple of questions. I'm not 100% sure of his name, but it might have been Daryl or Darren. I've had many things framed here and their work is quite good. I always wait for one of their huge sales when certain frames can be reduced by 75%-80%. read more

This Michaels store is my favorite I've been to. Though parking is a hassle on weekends, this location is worth the visit. I do recommend arriving slightly before opening for a guaranteed parking spot. The store is laid out well and is organized. They rarely redo the store so it's never confusing. It's always well stocked and they do have good sales from time to time. The employees are often nice and friendly but it's not always consistent. I have gotten a custom frame from here during a huge sale. The process was easy and the guy at the counter was knowledgeable and friendly. I visited the Michaels on High Ridge Road this week and had an excellent experience. I worked with a woman named Dana who helped me find every single item I needed. She was patient as I asked questions, she showed me everything available in stock, she offered tips for my craft projects, and she made me feel like she really cared. This location has ample parking, a great ambiance and, as described above, a really great staff. I work in customer service. I have good days and bad days but I don't let that reflect how I treat people. I called one day for a customer of mine. He needed a very specific item for a huge project we were working on. The person I got on the phone told me they didn't know if they carried an item like that and to just come in and look for myself. Seriously?? You work there and don't even know if you sell it, but I'm supposed to waste my gas to come there and walk aimlessly around a huge store looking for it? Never again. read more

Michaels generally is Michaels unless the stock and serive is super/horrible. I try not to go here because parking here is horrible. I think everyone converges on this center on a Saturday because there are varitity of shops.. get your hair styled, food shopping complete, get a new outfit, and then top it all off by learning some new craft. I have had some good experiences with staff here. They basically called the people at the Port Chester store lazy lying idiots. It was fantastic. read more

I purchased 4 frames I needed for an event, when I opened one to insert the sign, the tiny peices that hold the back on must not have been tight and the glass fell out and smashed on my tile floor. I went back to the store today to either exchange or get the glass replaced...no frame available to exchange and instead I had to PAY for replacement glass. I asked the girl if we could try it first to be sure it fit, and she swore it would fit as that is what the framing specialist said. I got home, and am typing with a bleeding finger from the chipped glass!!! I had to finally take the glass out of another frame I had to make it work. I am disgusted by them. quality is BAD and prices are not cheap!!! Revised-I called the manager when I got home, and Tony vowed he would take care of the situation. All good now. I went to Michael's in Stamford, CT with a list. Really needed help locating some of the items but I could not find an associate on the floor. I walked the store twice and then finally asked the cashier and she told me which aisle to look. The item was not there and I told the other cashier when I went to pay. He said they don't carry scissors that cut wavy edges. The store has a large scrap booking section but do not carry scissors that cut fancy edges!?! Disappointed and confused! Please get more associate to work in your store and definitely one on the floor for customer questions. Also better training because I believe you do have the scissors online. Holy management issues here. When you put up a sign that says "50% off orange sticker price" you better honor it without giving the customer attitude. Manager tried to make me look like a fool in front of employees and customers when I questioned why my item wasn't 50% off like the sign says! I proved her wrong because I can actually read. She can't and was confused by it. Was clear as day to me. Frustrating and annoying. I love Michael's and most of the cashiers at this location but what i experienced today from the lady in charge was disappointing and just plain wrong. read more

I agree with Nicole about the parking. Sometimes the service is poor at Michael's but it has more to do with the neighborhood it's in than anything else. And before you go calling someone an 'idiot' you should learn how to spell and write. Grammatical errors make you look just as dumb. So I won't take your review seriously Nicole. read more

Not a very well laid out store. More disorganized than most Michael's stores I've been to but they do have a fair amount of supplies; I agree that it appears to be reflective of the neighborhood it's in. I have never been here once that I didn't wait on an endless line... even when it wasn't very many people. Checkout is almost always very slow. read more

This location is an absolute nightmare. At any given time of day, month or year there are only ever 2 employees working at the registers. It's amazing. You could actually bet money on how often there are only 2 registers working while dozens of other employees gaze at you while disappearing into aisles and back rooms. As to be expected parents let their children run through aisles and then create odd scenes as their children start screaming and dragging their bodies on the floor when their parents don't get them the puffy paint set that they've already opened and splattered on a shelf. They have a good selection of papers and stamps to make crafts, baking supplies, yarn for knitting, spray paint, and very basic sewing supplies. There's a decent amount of rulers, cutting mats, and bases to make creative DIY projects. Don't get carried away with your expectations of this place though- expect very little and you may go home happy. Since this is my local Michaels I often find myself here. I do love Michaels for their selection of holiday merchandise , cute and unique finds and the great sales, however there's a lot of miscommunication and disorganization. If you think something is on sale- surprise, surprise it is not! This location is often the store I rely on when I run out of a supply and there have been numerous occasions when the store has failed to stock an item for weeks. I used to think that I could get Prismacolor markers and pencils here however they were never in stock. If a pencil was in stock it was broken, if a marker was in stock it had no cap and there were only 2 markers in total ever available. A complete waste of time. Don't come here for serious art supplies but if you want to create a scrapbook or deck out your home in the latest dancing reindeer or a DIY skeleton doormat then Michaels is your spot. They are pretty bad when it comes to framing. When they say two weeks, they really don't mean 2 weeks. It takes a lot longer. You can't reach them on the phone b/c they hardly ever pick up. I would never take my pictures to get framed there again. While I was there, another woman was complaining that her picture got lost!!! read more
