Came in for some paints and, well, I don't know what to say exactly. It wasn't bad per se but it was not good. The spray paints are not in the right rows. As they are packed in pretty tight you have to move them around to see what's behind them. Just a huge mess. I asked for help and the lady seemed genuinely surprised that I approached her. I asked her for my thing, she got on the radio (even though she had the inventory tool on her hand) and asked if they had it. "We don't carry that." Clearly shows on the website that Michael's does. My brother worked at this store for 17 years and was recently fired because the new manager of the framing department had it in for him and bullied him. He was college educated, an excellent worker who showed up on time, was detail oriented and very patient with all his customers. This new manager walked up in there and didn't like my brother for her own peedie reasons. When he chose not to comply with her degrading, juvenile requests, she took that opportunity to fire him. Love this place for picture framing. As some people may know, I love taking pictures because many end up posting on this website. That is not the only place these pictures end up. My favorite ones get framed and adorn the walls of my house and some we have given away as gifts. I've also taken pictures of special events for friends as well. All of these need a vehicle for presentation and that is where Michael's come in. They have a great selection of frames in multiple sizes as well as albums of different formats. All for an affordable price. Either I or my wife end up here on a very frequent basis. Great selection and excellent pricing but do pay attention to their sales for even more saving. read more

I shop at this Michaels every single week and spend lots of money as well. They changed the payment system a couple months back. This new system requires a pin. I never use my pin, always by passing. Since this new system they always need to paige someone to register to cash me out, I by pass my pin and am on my way. The manager today 6/1/24, refused my sale because I wanted to bypass pin. She told me it was absolutely not possible. Michaels lost a $50. plus sale today and more importantly, a very consistent customer. Hobby Lobby is right around corner and I use them quite often as well. So, if you actually want a person to wait on you at Michaels Crafts in Mooresville it just may be tough to actually get them to do their job and cash you out! read more

On 5.2.2024 at 5:45 pm myself and children were in this location. at the time of checkout we walked the line and around checkout and a couple who clearly seeing us walk to the register jumped in front to the cashier. I made it known we were next and the cashier blankly says " You can use the self checkout"! as if he was disgusted to assist or correct the situation. He continued to checkout the couple and ignored us. As a paying customer, customer service is key and this shows Micheal's in Mooresville does not know customer service. read more

I love Michael's because they have everything crafty....however, b/c they have a bit of everything, some sections are small and you are better served going to a specialty store. Their scrapbook paper selection is decent but doesn't change often. Lotsa stamps and stickers for scrapping heaven. Great items for kiddie hands to make, good variety of affordable items for the classroom, picture frames are well priced (esp when on sale), seasonal decor is cute and can be obtained for only a few clams, how-to kits for everything from woodworking to crocheting. The exit situation is a pain - you have to go thru the line (which is inconvenient when the line is long....which is often.) Cake decorating classes, kids' parties, if you can cut it, decorate it, glue it, stitch it or glitter it, this is your store. read more

Crafts & supplies galore for those who want to get creative & crafty! While you have plenty of stuff to look at, the amount of said stuff can get pretty overwhelming. The aisles aren't very wide & will stand- alone displays in the middle of the store, somewhat hinders your shopping. The store is always clean & organized & there's plenty of employee presence should you need help. However, checking out can be a problem. There always seems to be a line & there's only two registers open. Prices are reasonable & they always have coupons in the Sunday paper, or you can grab some off their website. read more

I have shopped at Michaels stores for 25 years; Colorado, Maryland and now Mooresville NC. I spend about $80 online or in the store each time I shop. This store really gave me startling insight into how they see customers who call asking for help with a purchased item. Among many things I bought Tuesday was a $37 epoxy product about a quart in size. I paid for it. It is on my receipt. Somehow, it didn't get handed back to me or placed in the basket. Or less likely, I left it in the cart after unloading all my treasures into the trunk and driving 45 minutes home. The next morning I called before they opened to see if they could locate the item. Not found. I Called back as suggested after opening and talked to someone more senior. To give you the short version-Michaels didn't find the item and were SURE that I was scamming them. What?!? All I really needed was to hear something mildly helpful or pleasant or, "I am sorry that happened. " What I got was aggression and a nasty tone. Needless to say, I'll never set foot in that store again. I do enjoy Hobby Lobby better. read more

Large store, went there for framing needs. When someone finally came to the counter (after over 10 mins of waiting), it was as if I was a bother to be there. However, once i got past that attitude, the store associate proved to be helpful in showing me matte colors to select for my re-framing needs. Pricey and I think if I went to a small frame store I would not have paid that much. read more

This is a quality location. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We were navigating the aisles looking for Oragami paper. I happened to say something about the paper crane project we were buying it for and a lady (wearing hilariously ridiculous bunny ears) stopped and said "Oragami paper is in aisle..." That is what I call exceptional service! On top of the great service, there are always coupons and sale prices. Before you go, be sure to sign up to receive their e-mails. You will get about one a day, but the coupons far outweigh the irritation of needing to hit the delete button. Definitely worth a trip the next time you need supplies for a craft. read more

I love several things about Michaels and really only have one major complaint: the speed of the checkout lines. I dread having to return anything here, and find they have the slowest checkout process as well. However, it's a great store! It's been around for YEARS and not much has changed. I appreciate the fact that they label the aisles - I'm always wondering what's kept where. The sheer abundance of items in this store is overwhelming. I'd bet they have 15,000 SKUs in this store. Tons and tons of items. The prices are mostly reasonable for a craft store. I find their coloring/drawing supplies (markers mainly) are very highly priced. I often go to Amazon and order those items with Prime shipping after comparing them to the prices in the store. They usually won't match Amazon... I HAVE had times where they would. But usually, the cashier says "we don't consider Amazon a competitor." However, I beg to differ considering I tell her I'll pass on certain items at checkout and that I'll just order them cheaper from my phone via Amazon. I would say that merits competitor... Just a little qualm I have. If you sign up for emails, you'll get coupons. The ladies at the register are usually very friendly, and often have coupons up there if you ask nicely. Everyone who works there loves crafts and is very knowlegable. They're passionate and it shows! I recently decided to try my hand at crocheting. So I went in to buy some yarn and asked a lady working which yarn she recommends for beginners. She wasn't a crocheter herself, but called a coworker over the walkie-talky to come help. Sylvia came over and spent a good 3-5 minutes with me asking what I was looking for, and showing me different yarn types. She said, "well, in my classes, I recommend something like this..." I interrupted, a little too excited: "Wait a minute! Tell me about these classes..." She smiled, and explained she teaches classes at the store for beginners, and also teaches a more advanced class. She's certified as a professional instructor and is an avid crocheter herself. She also knits. The classes are a few hours long, are after work hours (I think it started at 6), and cost a mere $25. I signed up at checkout, and brought my supplies. She was fantastic! So so so very patient, and did a great job of showing and explaining. Since nobody else had signed up that day, I had a private class. Woo hoo! We actually didn't finish the project, because I needed to go extra slow. So I took my project home and keep practicing. She taught me some basic stitches and gave great tips. For sure, once I get back in the groove of practicing more regularly, I WILL return. She's a great teacher and I cannot believe I'd never taken a class here before. read more

I stopped in Michael's to buy Swarovski crystals to replace some that are missing on my COVID mask. Will was incredibly helpful. Who knew there are so many different sizes and light reflections. I would have been lost without him. He was engaging and very consultative. So refreshing!!! read more

I don't even know where to begin with my level of disappointment in the customer service provided at this location. I have visited the store twice within the past month attempting to put together flowers for bridal bouquets and centerpieces. I explained to one of the women working there that I was slightly color blind and she told me that sounded like a personal problem and walked away. I was absolutely floored! I work in retail and manage a local boutique so I am very aware of how to treat my customers let alone just other human beings. On my second visit I asked someone about the exchange policy and she didn't even have the decency to stop walking when I was talking to her. She clearly did not care about my questions and or my business. I approached another woman to clarify what "Spring stems" were on sale and she rolled her eyes and she said the ones with the signs on them and walked away before I could ask anything else... I would much rather spend way too much money on ETSY to get these arrangements made then spend a penny in Michael's. read more

Went to simply leave a framed picture I had done there for a new glass ..... I have spent $1000's having pictures framed and this time they were framing something up on the counter ...one customer one person working the frame shop ... Man before me had been there over a half hour ... He told me to be careful same is not for me and let.... I waited another 15 minutes during which time another person came behind the counter only to tell me the other girl would be right with me.... She was still working on a project with a customer framing up a picture .... Unbelievable ... Whenever I take in project it's 1-4 weeks minimum ... Not do while I wait .... I took my complaints to the manager who just lifted her arms folded and asked what she was expected to do about it..... Guess what... I'm never stepping foot in there again ..... Great store but the reason we keep going back is Jason the frame shop manager. He has a great eye for detail and remembers you and your projects. I would give this place zero stars if possible. Continued having issues in the store every time we went, so eventually we called corporate. The following day, the store manager called and said this wasn't typical and invited us back in. We waited a few weeks and ended up needing something for a project, so we decided to give them one last try. We were even more disappointed than the times before. Horrible service. Called back into corporate to follow up and the store manager called again...this time speaking loudly and being very rude! Went in today for tie dye t-shirt project. I must say this is the worst Michaels to go to for projects. There was one person in the craft room and she was busy putting the dye on the t-shirts. Nobody was there to instruct the kids, nobody there to explain the project to the kids. I thought this was an event to teach/assist people with a project. Absolutely the worst micheals I have ever been to. I was looking for chalkboard PAPER. And they without helping me look said they were sold out. I kept looking and I found a whole stack of chalkboard paper. So I went to the same lady I asked for help to let her know that they had some. I went to the check out and right by it there was a whole section of chalk board stuff!!! So I went back to the lady and told her where the chalkboard section was so if anyone ask they had it.
