It consists of artists and craftspeople of many types showing and selling their creations in an open air marketplace. This is usually in the parking lot of the Saint Joseph's Cathedral, but if the weather is bad it will instead be located on the first floor of the Galvez Parking Garage. The Arts Market is a project of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. It draws artists and crafts folks who work in many types of media. Woodworkers, sculptors, and painters of all sorts are commonly there. But one must also consider the soap-makers, clothing and accessory makers, those who make cards and stationary, potters, collage artist, and others! This is a great place to visit to get unique and local home decorations and gifts! The wearables are something special as well. Jewelry that is uniquely you. As I walked into the newly built building I was filled with the creativity buzz. I adore craft…read moresupplies- especially wrapping paper. While looking through one of the isles I found wrapping paper on sale for $1.00. Let me tell you I was insanely excited. I almost bought every roll. In the end I settled for about 20 rolls. When I got to the register the rolls were ringing up for $1.50. I informed the cashier, who was pretty rude at the start, that the tag said $1.00. She made me show her- so went to find them. Apparently, the tag was in the wrong place. She called the manager because I wanted them to honor the mistake. He said go ahead and I thanked him for doing so. The cashier was rude again. Saying how long it would take for her to override each roll. I was super aggravated with her at that point. She then asked me if I was a teacher, yep. Instant discount. I ended up with 20 rolls for about 14 bucks! I was super excited. I still enjoyed my experience although I got a rude cashier. Lacking star is due to her and the insanely long line behind me.

There are aisles and aisles of stuff. Michael's is the go to, for any crafter or artist and when there's a sale, it's so worth it. They've seemed to expand on their variety, which makes me so happy. Some locations are better than other and on a recent trip the cashier told me that all coupons from all locations work......so many supplies so much art to create. Thanks Michael, glad your name isn't Bob because I might've been shopping for a hamburger instead.
