When Joann's in Kingston, NY shut down, two of the longtime employees put their heads and hearts together and opened Frugal Fabrics on Ulster Avenue. This isn't your typical fabric store- big box or otherwise. What sets Frugal apart is that these ladies accept some fabrics as donations and sell. But don't mistake that for low quality. The fabric selection here is impressive AND affordable. While my home leans neutral with rustic woods, concrete and stone, I love to funktify it with pops of color. I don't sew, but I do love beautiful fabric and walking into Frugal F. felt like heaven. The colors, the heft, the textures- especially the pieces I picked up, were delicious. It's a hidden gem for crafters and quilters- neither of which I am, but I'm so glad I came here- plus these ladies know their stuff. By the way, they offer a point system and get 'oink' ;-) points based on how many yards of fabric were purchased.

Tucked just off of Broadway in Kingston, this little store is stocked with unique and creative items, not things you can purchase just anywhere. Merchandise changes with the seasons, so you can always find fresh gifts and goods. A standard item includes Beam watercolor paints, one of my favorite addictions. They also do screen printing lessons and other analog adventures so you can harness your creative vision in a way that is rare to find these days. It's well worth the 5-minute walk off of Broadway. It's a not-so-hidden gem.

Before you slam them, think about being a bit more understanding like you would expect your customers to be with what you are dealing with every day! So, their website is "ok", but the e-commerce is sub-par indeed and that is unfortunate but knowing this upfront makes it a bit easier to swallow but Wake up, they are not a tech company and fortunately they are raising their prices to support an ecommerce platform for a very select group of apparently ungrateful customers. i am a customer, but like to think of Bailey as a business partner. We both need to do well in order to grow. So, poor e-commerce but what they do have are real people that for the most part really seem to care and that makes up for a lot and I would rather have a real person helping me than a more efficient website. Products ? Well, I run a teaching studio in California and while there have been some learning moments, overall I would choose Bailey again (with a few hindsight corrections) with my product purchases and put my money where my mouth is in this regard. I dream of the day to be able to afford the investment in one of their state of the art commercial gas kilns, but for now we have two top load electrics, 10 pro-xl wheels, 30 inch slab roller, de-airing pugmill that processes at least 30 tons a year, and many of the bailey branded tools. The sales and support staff are friendly, knowledgeable and patient and their prices overall are fair. They put up with my long calls, ignorance and have resolved the majority of my "issues" and I never hesitate to refer them to my students building out their home studios. I don't work for Bailey nor have I ever worked there, do not know anyone personally or have any friends or financial gain to post this but I am grateful for being one of their customers and felt the need to post this

This is the first negative review I've ever left, but I'm genuinely appalled by how I was treated…read more This is the second time, years apart, that I've ordered Bright Gold Luster from this company, and both experiences have been extremely disappointing. The first time, I ordered gold luster and was sent white luster instead. When I called to let them know, I was told there was nothing they could do. I decided to give them another chance. This time, I ordered Bright Gold Luster along with several glazes. The glazes arrived, but the gold luster--the main reason I placed the order--was missing. When I contacted the company, they refused to issue a refund or make the situation right. To make matters worse, the owner was incredibly rude and dismissive during our phone conversation. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What I can't understand is refusing to take responsibility and treating a customer so disrespectfully. After two separate negative experiences and the way this was handled, I won't be ordering from them again and cannot recommend this business.

The whole concept is so unique--beautiful yarns and accessories, a great selection of wine, and really delicious food all in one cozy, welcoming space. It's such an unexpected combination, but it works so well. Whether you're there to create, have a glass of wine, grab a bite to eat, or just hang out, it's the kind of place you don't want to leave! Jocelyn & Todd (the greatest bartender ever) couldn't have been nicer. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and there was such a great community vibe. It felt like a place where regulars gather, but newcomers are made to feel right at home. If you're anywhere near Kingston, definitely stop in. It's one of those special places that's creative, relaxing, and full of genuinely good people. I can't wait to visit again the next time I'm in town!
