Had a great selection and pricing was fair. It was a little drive from our area but they had what we needed.

They have everything you need and an online coupon too! I appreciate their selection and overall inventory levels. The store is generally clean and employees are informative. I feel the price points are inflated to offset the coupon however. read more

I love craft stores. Michael's is a great craft store that usually has everything I need. They would be perfect if they carried fabric. Since they don't (at least not on reems), I usually go to Hobby Lobby that's down the street. So that's okay I guess. They also give great teacher discounts. Oh and this store is one of the more organized stores. I can always find what I'm looking for and if I can't a sales associate is always there to help. Everyone there is also super nice (even when it's super busy, they are still nice!! Which is a huge plus, who's doesn't love nice welcoming people?). very poor policies! I purchased 5 tee shirts from Michael's about 3 weeks ago and thought the receipt was in the bag, I paid cash and did not use my rewards as it never gives me any discount. I have been dieting and lost about 10 pounds and my husband said my clothes looked too big. I was at another Michael's and purchased 2 smaller tee shirts and was so happy they fit great. today I went to exchange the never used tags still on shirts for a smaller size. no way had to return them and take a lower price no exceptions. the clerk even tried to refund me 49 cents for 2 shirts, the smaller shirts I bought with a coupon I had. I asked why she said that in the last 90 days those two colors were 49 cents each. I took my refund and had to pay more for smaller shirts. this is awful customer service and not that I shopped there a lot but I regret that I bought more shirts from them. I will not shop there anymore. same shirts just a smaller size! I guess they must get lots of complaints as there is no way to contact the corporate offices on their site. don't pay cash and swallow your receipt if you still want to shop here, and even thou I told her I paid cash and no rewards she still plugged me in the computer and looked up items that I was not returning. read more

Cashier: 5 stars. Both of the Cashier's I encountered were very nice. Store policy/Management: 1 star. I needed to exchange some (unopened) items. I had my original receipt, but I didn't have the card on me that I paid with, so I asked if I could do an exchange or do store credit instead. They said no. What?! The cashier tried, but when he called his manager for approval, the manager said no on the radio and wouldn't even come over to assess the situation. I've never heard of a store that will do a refund but not exchange or store credit. Product: Hobby lobby is Cheaper, has more product/variety, and is overall better. read more

It's one of my favorite craft stores 2nd to Hobby Lobby, however as I was waiting in line I overheard a cashier apply a 40% off coupon to a shoppers total that she had near the register which was nice ... I ended up getting a different cashier she was much older and cranky lady... when she gave me my total she's asked if I had any coupons and I said I didn't and they didn't have any listed on their website ... I would imagine she would apply the coupon she had near by but she didn't ... I said thank you when she handed my receipt and I didn't get a response back however she did tell another worker after my transaction if she could go on a break... read more

Michael's is pretty much the only craft store here in town (boo) but thankfully, it's a decent one. For the most part, I think this store is well stocked & neatly displayed (EXCEPT the pens. which annoys me to no end). I wish they had more of a selection in general. For example, the wedding decor is only one aisle - they could make so much $ if they had 2 aisles. Think about it store manager lady, please! However, if you are planning your wedding, I strongly encourage you to diy when it's cheaper and start early. Use your coupons and stockpile! You'd be surprised what kind of decor they offer. I have found great things to use for my centerpieces/table decor. also, they have CHALK MARKERS!! i wish i had bothered to look when i was looking for them. The staff here actually told me they do not have them, so i recommend looking for yourself. Also, they do not sell material (like, for sewing) here & we no longer have a Joanne's in town, so that sucks. Other than that, i have no complaints. I love that they offer coupons in their weekend circular (40% or even 50% off) AND many times at the register you'll get another coupon. This week, for example, they're offering 50% off coupons. They accept coupons from your smartphone, too. And you may or may not know this, but you can totally use your coupon (on your phone) more than once during the week. It's supposed to be once a day, but i would go in early in the morning and later in the evening (different girls on shifts, muahaha) & use my coupon twice in a day. Hey man, i got things to do! but let's keep this a secret between us. They also offer classes. They offer cake decorating (i believe right now they are even offering spanish classes) amongst other classes i cant recall off hand. The lady who teaches this class is actually doing my wedding cake! I really do like her work. Just go in and you can see the classes they offer. I really hope one day they offer sewing class cause that's the one i am interested in. I have gone to the Michael's in Visalia & in Fresno too, and mostly, they are all the same. Fresno has a bit more, but it's more crowded and congested. What was the biggest annoyance is that I'd see an item or two that the Hanford store didnt have. This place sucks with coupons. Never had an issue using multiple coupons (different codes) at a Michaels before but they want to read so deep into the bs fine-print. Two stars only because they have what I need... which they probably wouldn't have had if they allowed multiple coupons for people. Literally they want people to walk away with less. read more

I hate that I end up in here as much as I do. The aroma is overwhelming. But I have to admit, if this is your kind of thing, this isn't a bad place to get your crafting business done. If I need help finding something or whatever, I don't usually find staff in the aisles. But the ones at the counters are polite and helpful. Seems like a good selection and although the place is stocked just south of hoarderville, it's usually tidy. read more

At Michael's, I have come to expect a certain level of customer service, being able to get in and out relatively quickly. Friendly's customer service Representatives, that sort of thing. Today was a major disappointment. They only had one cashier working the register, and she was helping a lady who apparently was having some sort of issue to where they had to call the manager. I understand that this happens, but they could have opened up a second register. It wouldn't have been that difficult. Incidentally, the difference between a 1 star rating at a 3-star rating in this case would have been if the cashier had said sorry about the wait. That's all it would have taken and I would have given two more stars today. They will have to be earned back read more

Yes apparently I'm that lady. I asked for help in Michael's. I didn't think it was a prerequisite to entering the store. The first empoyee I encountered, I asked for rafia.! His response was what is roffia? I then encountered a female employee who I asked if she could help. I asked for supplies to dip pretzels. Her response " oh I dont even know how to do that" with a look of bewilderment on her face. Sorry that was it for me! APPARENTLY customer service and knowledge of the products AREN'T a prerequisite to employment. Tsk tsk. I did see what appeared to be a manager who turned and walked away without so much as a greeting. It's a sad fact that this is the norm in today's society, they don't teach employees about the store they work in, they don't teach or enforce principles of customer service. They just want bodies. This has been the worst shopping experience in a very long time. I ran in there to get a few things for my business. I knew where a few were, but the one item I knew they had, I had no idea where in the store it was located. I found an associate and asked here where it was. She had no idea, directed me to wood working aisle and then walked away. Oh she was so wrong. I went looking for another associate, and there was not any others on the floor except for the cashier. I rung the bell in the frame shop three times and no one came out of the back. At that point I came across a young about 10 years old fuming because there was not anyone around to help him who worked in the store. I went up to the check out line, the two old ladies where were at the checkout stand when I entered the store 20 minutes before was still there. The cashier was taking his sweet time ringing them out, he had no sense of urgency, and really was poorly trained. I dumped my items on an end cap and walked out. How in the world can a national company have just the cashier on the floor, where is everyone who works in the store? So glad that Hobby Lobby is opening up next month!!!! Avoid this store if you can!!! Not work the headache!!! read more

I want to tell you how horrible the policy is at michaels in hanford. I witnessed first hand 2 kids stealing, I was with my 2 young sons and husband and to make a long story short, as the kids were getting ready to leave I told the cashier I was talking to that the kid was stealing. He came over and grabbed about 6 michaels bags at an empty register and filled them. The employees excuse? "Our manager says were not allowed to do anything. They come in here all the time and do this"... Something about the possibility of the thief maybe having a mental disorder and the employee could get in trouble. Are you kidding me??? She told me I could call the cops but they couldn't. Mind you, this is the same store that gives you an issue if you try to use two 50% off coupons (separate transactions)... Now I'm a paying customer..being told basically "don't spend your money here just grab a bag and take what you want". There's something very wrong here. After that, about 20 min later I went outside to leave and the boys were just hanging out outside like no big deal. So I did call the cops. Who knows if they showed up but you may want to look into this stores policy! read more
