Store is not ADA accessible. Mark Malatesta, District Manager for Michael's had the store manager clean up the aisles in the winter to make it accessible to people in wheelchairs, on crutches, visually impaired and require the use of a sensing cane, or heck, anyone of the 69% of Americans who are overweight or obese (source: CDC, 2013)---or anyone who doesn't mind a 12 inch clearing space between breakable glass containers and breakable frames, etc....sigh----but the store went backward under current management, who clearly couldn't maintain the standard. But nothing excuses Managers Behaving Badly. Steer clear of mgr "Sarah." On our outing today, we asked about a new, current coupon for "paper craft storage." She said my item was not eligible. I asked how it's determined. She said, it's for storage. I said, the box has the word storage on it! She said, if we had a bookshelf, would I expect a book sale? Um...what? A) you didn't answer my question, and b) I wasn't asking about paper on sale, to complete her ridiculous analogy. I asked about a paper craft storage item that actually said the words "paper," "craft" and "storage" on it! Calling Mark Malatesta's cell phone...he gave me he number last winter for such an occasion as this. Hopefully he can guide the store back on track. On another note, the Germantown store is week managed and has appropriate spacing for people with or without disabilities to maneuver around. We live in the Kentlands, but if we can't get even a basely acceptable amount of service or courtesy (or adherence to federal laws, for example), then perhaps it's time to go elsewhere. It isn't like michaels is involved in the local community like other businesses in our neighborhood.... PS....if anyone finds the answer to what they determine is "paper craft storage" please let me know! Apparently the words "paper," "craft," and "storage" are not enough. For home decor, this is my go-to Michaels. I recently purchased floral decor and photo frames. I recommend you check their website before you go as they have weekly coupons and specials which could make your next visit worth it! The floral decor can be on the pricey side, but depending on your arrangements, could be a beautiful addition to your home. For the most part, the photo frames are reasonably priced. You may be able to find cheaper frames for the same quality at Ikea. But, Michaels is a more convenient option for me, so this is where I go. I have yet to take advantage of their custom framing center, but the staff seem very knowledgeable and from time to time, the store runs 50% off specials on custom framing. The store also has a wide assortment of photo albums of all sizes and qualities. The albums are reasonably priced, too. If you're into scrap-booking, Michaels has a lot of fun stickers, paper and props for your scrapbook. read more

I love shopping at Michael's! My creative brain goes into overload as soon as I walk through the front door. I buy the $2 t-shirts and paint on them. I also buy tempera paint and various other supplies for my family child care preschool. There's plenty of parking in the lot. read more

This is my local Michaels and the website said they had an item at the end of the season that no other locations still had. I went to the aisle the website told me to go, but the item and related seasonal decor was not there. I wandered around the store looking for the item in other spots and trying to find staff, but the only staff was working the register. I waited in line at the register and showed the cashier the item on my phone. She said that the system had not been updated. She said she couldn't confirm if they still had the item and just told me some places where the item MIGHT be. Seems like this location has an inventory and a staffing issue. read more

Michaels is a decent spot for your crafting supplies. Sometimes they have really good sales and they usual offer coupons in their weekly fliers so you can get a good bargain too. Most of the staff is fairly friendly. I've only dealt with one cashier who is rude and a literally waits rolling her eyes while you hold up items for her to scan them but the rest of the staff has been good. read more

If I could give this store 0 stars I would.. customer service was TERRIBLE! & what makes it even worse, is when an associate actually looks at you and doesn't speak at all. I was seen waiting in line by an associate who looked right at me and grabbed a cart and started pushing it. Then once I got to the register an older guy of the name "Noel" didn't even ask; how are you? Did you find everything ok? Sorry for keeping you waiting... NOTHING! Just started ringing my items up. & then he assumed I didn't have a membership, I guess because I'm an African American. (Which everyone in there seemed to be looking at me weird as if an African American can't shop in a craft store). So he had to go back & edit the screen with an attitude, he puts my bag behind the register as if my card was going to get declined or something, and THEN gives it to me once my cards gets approved. Never said, "have a nice day" or anything. I will NEVER shop at this location again!!!!!! I was only in the area going to Whole Foods & decided to stop by since it's literally right next door. Horrible racist manager at Michael's store in Germantown. I am a black person who Ordered items online for a store pick up. So I went got my package and when I got home I realized one thing was missing, a polymer clay slab. Called the store, woman who answered said it was there , that I should go pick it up. I went next day and the this horrible white male yelled me told it wasnt there, did not try to listen to me at all, later my mom was near there so I told her to check it they found it. It was even worse, yelled at my mom got on the phone yelled at me again , claiming it's not there. I called Michael's Corp. Office and they said it was delivered, after a few days , I tried again and woman employer gave me my item, no apology from the rude white male. I've been so tramautized I havent been able to go back and get art supplies. I'm so terrified I cld run into him. Michael's is the closest store to me. I need my art as outlet for PTSD. Please reprimand him or remove him so I could get my art supplies. read more

This place fills our crafting needs to keep the kids occupied when they can't play outdoors. On the handful of occasions that I couldn't find something, the store employees at least had a general sense of where the item might be located and were generally helpful. I like the sales they have on out-of-season stuff like valentines stickers after valentines day passes. They accept coupons on your smart phone, which is convenient too! read more
