Totally useless employees. You can very clearly tell they hate their job- based off an unwillingness to answer simple questions and very blatant eye-rolling. I asked politely if they could ask their manager the question and she was just as bad, so I see where they get it from. Crappy organization from the top down. read more

When you haven't craft it in a while, and you have to start going back to stores, you remember how much better one is than the other. I will never step foot in Joann's again. I found myself wandering the aisles of this store recently when I was looking for miniature furnishings and accessories for a dollhouse I'd recently built. I remembered that Michaels had a decent selection in years past, so I made the journey over. One thing that I noticed about this location is that it feels pretty sterile. All while walls and fixtures, bright white lighting, no music and more of a warehouse feel than a place that fosters creativity. Compare that to Hobby Lobby, I always feel inspired in their store with the beautiful displays of home décor and an overall more appealing environment. That said, this store carried what I needed, plus several other items that I ended up taking home. Customer service was great-the nice gal at the register acknowledged my reusable bag and made me feel appreciated for my efforts. She also asked what I was making and sounded genuinely interested. This will be a store I likely return to when I have a specific item in mind. But if I need inspiration for creativity, I'll probably head to a more artistic/creative store. read more

I want to give the employees that work here some real kudos. I just went here with my son (with special needs). He loves chatting up the cashiers (which can get obnoxious as a mom, but he loves it). The woman checking us out took the time to have the sweetest dialogue with my son. I wish I remembered her name, but she was the absolute best. Many of the employees here (Aubrey, specifically) have gone above and beyond to make sure that my orders are good and my classes (when I taught classes, pre-covid) went off without a hitch. This location has excellent staff. Whatever you're doing, keep it up. read more

If you're crazy about crafts, Michaels has what you need. If they don't have it, you don't need it. Located in Draper peak strip mall, there is plenty of parking. Frequently Michael's runs aggressive coupons where you get 50% off a single item. That's amazing! These coupons are usually found in the Salt Lake Tribune. Let me tell you, Michaels is a terrific source for picture frames. They provide a good value on all the standard size frames. Another service they offer is custom framing. Bring in a coupon and get a custom piece of artwork done right. This will be a real treat or an upgrade for your house. So when you decide to delve into your creative side, Michael's would be a good choice for purchasing your supplies. Get a shopping cart at the front door and stroll the stroll the aisles. read more

I've come to this location a few times. The employees all seem to be nice and helpful but the managers are not. Whichever one was working on Sunday, dec 12 with faded pink hair pulled up in a couple buns was very rude. I get not wanting to help me find something. I get you may be having a bad day. But at least fake it to me instead of being rude. Set a good example to your employees. I'm not coming back to this location. Thanks for helping me find nothing. read more

What an effin waste of time. Went to custom framing department to have simple photograph framed. After 30 minutes of staff playing with new software package was told they 1. Couldnt figure out the software and 2. Because they couldnt figure out the software they couldnt place an order. Evidently, software now determines what the staff's capabilities are, and this software has decided that Michael's staff are incapable. Sadder was that they then told me that they have turned away lots of business because of this. So when does the intelligent manager think "hmmm...software not working, can't sell anything, maybe I should close down this department and QUIT WASTING MY CUSTOMER'S TIME!" But then that would require an intelligent manager wouldn't it?. Off to hopefully a more intelligent experience at Hobby Lobby. Wish me luck. And avoid this Michaels. I'm told that I am a very crafty person, especially at work and by the wife. Unfortunately, this particular usage of the word is contextually wrong for a review of Michaels. I actually like wandering the aisles of this kind of store when coerced to do so. I sound like I go begrudgingly, but in reality, I am somewhat unusual as a guy in that I do actually like to shop. I don't generally buy much (unless it's electronics or gadgets or computer software and the like) but I do like to look around! It's exercise and time together with the wife, and sometimes some nice scenery and interesting ideas for home decoration etc....as in the case of this store. This is a pretty good store, though it looks like it could use a little TLC. That said, they did have some pretty nice stuff, right from some higher price decorative items, through every craft item that I have little clue what to do with, through to a myriad of clearance items that would probably delight anyone who is of the persuasion of the usage of the word crafty these stores are designed to attract. I did have to chuckle when entering this store at the setup of the security camera's and those screens that greet you to show you are on camera. Sure, we're all used to them in every store, but this place brings it to a whole new level - cameras sticking out of the ceiling on big long metal stalks, screens with big white flashing LED's and huge signs announcing you're on camera - it's like a cross between an episode of Dr. Who, some post apocalyptic scenario and my last visit to my neurologist where they were testing to see if I was prone to light induced seizures. I found the surrealism quite refreshing. What wasn't so refreshing was the checkout process - they were just way understaffed, with 5 or so people in line and one checker, it doesn't take much to make it a long wait, and I can assure you that we certainly did as we were trying to get rid of all our spare change to buy a $3.99 item :P read more

This is one of the best Michaels in Utah! The staff was friendly and helpful, accepted my Joanns coupons (which the Bountiful location makes a stink about) and was well stocked with everything I was looking for and even some yarn colors and types I hadn't seen at other locations. I wish I lived closer but will stop by anytime I am out this way! read more

I am comparing this to Joann's across the street. Michael's is FAR superior. I used to be a Joann's shopper, but after too many crochity old ladies were downright rude and grumpy to me, I started shopping at Michael's. They have started honoring competitor's coupons which is nice, and also the reason why I used to shop at JOann's more. The staff is very helpful and does not act inconvenienced when you ask for their help. They are also much more accommodating with returns/exchanges. This store is much nicer than the Fort Union location! They have some fun DIY projects and a large selection of paper (scrap booking, etc) and artificial flowers. Too bad they don't have as big as a selection as Hobby Lobby, nor as fun as Mac's (too bad we don't have them anymore). The checkout line moves a bit slow and I dislike how they ALWAYS ask for your email and act offended when you don't provide it. read more
