I liked it! Plenty of selection, Christmas is out already , arts and crafts up the wazoo, and prices aren't terrible. Some items are a bit pricey. Staff was excellent though, no wait on lines. Quiet, light atmosphere. read more

I've stopped in this Michael's on/off for years when I'm in the area, as my city only has a Hobby Lobby. Yesterday (4/7/21) there was a cement truck blocking & repouring half the front sidewalk, so it looked like they were closed, but they were open. I was disappointed in my visit. I saw empty shelves & spaces. Typically I've found better prices at Michael's than Hobby Lobby, but that wasn't the case on this visit. I needed vinyl rolls and found those more expensive and with less selection in my preferred brand. Same with the variety packs of Sharpie markers. I was shopping for a graduation party, and found no graduation themed items at all. Covid safety: The two employees I saw were wearing masks, and there were plexiglass dividers & floor space stickers at the check-outs. read more

I absolutely love this store! They make it so easy to shop online and pick up my order!!! So reasonable to get everything I need. I teach a painting class and this is my go to store for all my supplies. Oh and so many other things, I can never see everything. read more

Well I guess Cross-stitch has fallen out of Vogue. Wal mart used to sell all of the DMC floss colors, now they don't. Thank goodness Michaels still does. Thank you nice clerk who helped me. It was nice to see the new crafts that are all the buzz too. read more

I want to take this opportunity to thank Jennifer for her amazing help yesterday. I was here visiting friends and needed some frames for a project that I was working on. I had a few questions and Jennifer stopped what she was doing to answer all of them. She assisted me in finding just what I needed. When I told her that I didn't want to stop her from doing her work, she quickly let me know that she was "assisting a customers needs" and that was her work. I have worked in retail management for over 30 years. And if I was in this area working, I would definitely grab her up. I had a great experience on Saturday. The staff could not have been friendlier. The place was clean and well organized. I cam here to buy some stickers for my white board I bought at Target. I was able to find the exact board I wanted. What made the experience even better was the fact that the store clerk who checked me out had 2 coupons for me. She helped me find them on Michaels.com. I placed an online order with Michael's. I never received an email that my order was ready to be picked up, so I logged into my online account the next day and it said my order was ready for pickup. I went to the store to get it and the only sign at the front for online orders was at the front register. There were about six people ahead of me and only two cashiers. I waited in line 8 minutes to finally get to a register only to have the women tell me I had to pick up online orders in the very back of the store. There should have been a sign at the front of the store indicating that online orders should be picked up in the framing department. The whole point of online order was speed and convenience. This Michael's is pretty mediocre. There is nothing stellar about it however, there is nothing that would deter me from visiting again either. Staff was friendly however it was not always easy to find someone when you needed them. The store truly needs a renovation. Everything just looks old and sad. Their selection was alright. I was able to find what I wanted (a cake box) and the price was right. My husband went in to take advantage of their framing deal. It was only so-so, so we didn't end up purchasing anything. Would I come back? Yes! Would I make a special visit just to peruse their stock? Nope, probably not. If you are into the frills and glam that make some craft stores appealing you will NOT find it here. If you do need cake boxes on the other hand, this is the place for you! read more

Here's a helpful holiday hint. If you want to pay more for, well anything, buy it with the words "Christmas" or "Holiday" or in green, red, white, or pretty much anything Christmas-like. It doesn't matter that the rest of the year, something similar would be dirt cheap. This time of year, its gonna stretch your credit card limit. For a lot of Christmas stuff I just head to Michaels. Here, its not called wrapping paper (although you can get that here) but rather kraft paper, or roll paper which you can pick up for $2.99. This roll of single color paper will wrap every single present I bought this year with a good bit left over for the straggling birthday. Don't want all your packages to look the same with that plain color wrapping? Felt cutouts. A different color for each person. This also avoids putting people's names on the packages (helps in family's where people try to sneak peaks at their gifts - like you dad). Don't avoid an arts and crafts store just because you don't think you're crafty. You might just get some ideas here. I found this location to be a bit more crowded than others I've been to. It took me longer than I thought to find what I needed, and when I did, I got the last one of a few (whew!). I've been to better Michaels but it served my needs. read more

Need pictures matted and framed? This is place to get it done. Anna was very patient and knowledge as we painstakingly choose the right mat in the right color and right shape. Anna even created a template and hand cut a mat to recreate a mat option that was not available. All 6 of our maps, prints, potraits and watercolors were expertly matted and framed. Anna, manager of the framing department and her associate (regretfully I did not get her name) could not have been more kind, helpful and professional. And the price of all this work? My favorite local Michael's location! Employees at this store have always been super nice and very helpful. I have frequented this store for years and have rarely been disappointed. The only thing that would make this store better is a larger selection of fine art supplies and better stock of Copic markers, as they don't always have colors I need. I went to Michaels today in search of water color art supplies. I couldn't find any however, if you are into acrylics, they have plenty.

I didn't have the most comfortable experience here. I was recently sent a 60%-off coupon, so I decided I'd go to Michael's and get one of their Lemax Spooky Town village pieces. I live just outside Urbana so it's a long drive to Beavercreek, but I work in Xenia so I drove about 20 minutes to Michael's after work. When I got there, I realized I forgot my phone with my coupon on it at work. It was one of those days. I drove the 20 minutes back to work, grabbed my phone, and drove all the way back to Michael's. I went inside, got my item, and went to check out. I presented my coupon and was told by the cashier that the Spooky Town pieces were on sale for 30% off and that she couldn't take off my coupon. I asked if she could just take it off the retail price; I didn't need both discounts, I just really wanted to use the coupon I was sent (and that I had just driven all around the county to get). The cashier was very stern and rude to me, saying that it was against her policy and she couldn't do what I was asking her to do. I understand that, but the news deflated me and made me very depressed, especially with the way she was speaking to me. She made me feel like a child. Had I really wasted all this time when I should have just gone home? I took a breath and told the cashier as genuinely as I could about all the driving I had done just to use this coupon, hoping it would at least make her feel some sympathy and to let her know that I wasn't just another customer trying to get his way. I hate when customers complain and raise a fuss, but the cashier was speaking so loudly and with so much offense that the people waiting in line behind me probably thought I was trying to do something unspeakable. I just wanted to use my coupon. That's it. The woman told me I would have to wait for the manager. I stepped aside, and it was then that I realized the manager was standing at the next register. She came over and asked me what was wrong, even though she'd heard the whole thing. I briefly explained, but she was just as rude as the cashier, talking to me like she was patronizing a child, even though I was clearly upset and had already taken the beating enough from the other woman. The manager finally said she would take off my coupon from the retail price, but she grilled me the entire time, saying I should have downloaded their app to check their sales before I came. I left feeling exhausted and honestly couldn't have cared less about the Spooky Town building. The enjoyment of having it wasn't worth the hassle. I used to love going to Micheal's whenever I was in the area, but I will be staying far away from there now simply because I don't want to face their robotic and unfriendly staff again. read more

Contrary to other reviews, I think this Michaels is actually pretty good. Things do seem laid out a bit odd compared to other Michaels stores I've been to, but this doesn't stop me from still going here. Yes, you're going to pay a bit more for holiday items, but that's all Michaels, really... I usually like to by my model paints here since they usually have a well stocked selection. Bought a car phone charger at Michaels. Sales associate here said they had the same one and it worked great. Plugged it in and it began to smoke. So I returned it to the store where I bought it. Like an idiot, I didnt keep my receipt based on the comments the associate made about it being a good product. I know....I know...my bad. So the associate that I dealt with couldnt help because I wanted the cash back that I had paid for it. So I asked for managwa because I dont want store credit. The manager tried the same excuse the associate did and I persisted. So he reluctantly gave me back half of the retail price in cash which was better than a full return in store credit, I guess. My message to Phil, the manager here, obviously I wasnt lying to get my cash back..the car charger even STILL smelled like smoke when I returned it. And the manager admitted there had been quite a few people return the same item for the same reason. read more

This place needs lots of work. If there were a comparable craft store nearby, I would HAPPILY go there. Where do I start? First of all, I know this may sound silly, but please get an automatic door! All the cool stores are doing it. It is such a struggle to pull open not one, but two sets of doors with my toddler in the shopping cart and try to make my way in, or out, for for that matter. Secondly the store is WAY WAY WAY too crowded. The place needs an entire renovation and lesson in feng shui. The shopping carts are tiny at Michaels, as in not the size of standard shopping carts, and yet, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get through any section of the store when there is someone else with or without a shopping cart in the same aisle as you. When I go to Michaels, I am rarely going to browse, but I guess I am in the minority because I am constantly saying "Excuse me" to get around everyone else who is slowing making their way through the store looking at everything the store sells. Long story short: navigate at your own risk, and good luck to you. Lastly and most importantly, hire more help!! Expect to wait 10 minutes or more to checkout. I don't even wait at Walmart that long. Although there are six registers, there are never more than two open, and none of the employees seem to know how to hustle despite that there are 10 people in line waiting to checkout. And finally, although they accept mobile coupons, I never have an easy experience when I try to use them. I receive emails from Michaels multiple times a week with coupons included in the email. When I get to the store and finally get to check out and click 'get coupon' within the email it opens a browser which has coupons from a previously valid coupon period, and not the current period. The coupon I received in my e-mail is never accessible, and only a few employees understand that it's an error on Michaels end, not mine and still scan a spare coupon behind the counter so I can get my promised discount. Each time I leave the store vowing to never go again. read more
