Well, proof that some establishments listen to their customers! After stepping back from Michael's a while ago, I was in dire need of some paint on a Sunday, so I headed there. The store was drastically cleaner than before, and each employee I encountered was helpful and friendly. While the sales are not nearly as good as some other places, they do have decent prices. I have gone back several times during this holiday season, and it's been a pleasant experience each time. read more

I made a special trip to Michael's to purchase fabric. Two different salespeople saw me selecting the bolt of fabric and take it to the cutting table. The sign said ring bell for service. I rang twice and nobody came I was there to buy fabric, not to be ignored. read more

This is the best place to get my pictures framed and matted! They always have sales on custom frames, so I'm in here quite a lot! I really like how the framing department keeps all of your information in regards to the exact size, frame used, and mat colors of each thing you get done. I have three LSU championship newspaper covers, and I need them all to match even though they are different sizes. Michaels does a fantastic job when it comes to that. All of the newspapers are perfectly preserved just the way I like them and make a fantastic addition to my office. The only thing I don't like about the framing department is that they told me one day and kept pushing back my pick up date, even when I needed it on the date they originally told me. I had to call to get this info, they didn't readily give it to me. Also, they stopped doing the wiring on the back of the frames. I can't hang things perfectly on the wall without the wiring, so when I recently picked up I insisted that the wiring be put on the back. This is also something they don't readily tell you. There is a small sign on the corner of the desk, but not quite visible. I just wished they communicated better with their customers with the amount of money that I am paying. I don't often get a chance to come to Baton Rouge for any extended amount of time, but happened to be visiting and needed something to keep my hands busy. Enter Micheals. At one end of a U shaped strip mall, there is plenty of parking in front. Walking in, you are greeted by a staff member, and note that everything seems neat and clean. I browsed the aisles looking for something to jump out and into my hands. I like painting first and foremost, but I have a lot of that at home. So, I wander into the cross stitch section and see one with hummingbirds. I do not know how to cross stitch, but the packaging stated there were instructions. So I bought it. Checking out was easy as there were several registers open. I am glad that I came, and will be back when I am in the area and in need of some crafting supplies. read more

My favorite craft store! I get all my picture frames from here. They have a big selection and always have great sales. I also get my cross stitching fabric and threads there too. I love their scrap booking section. And they are good about having things for all the holidays! Prices are pretty good here and there are always coupons to use. read more

There were plenty of staff members on the floor for which to ask questions. I never had to go looking for someone. They were knowledgeable of the store's layout and sent me straight to the aisle where I could find my needed items. There were plenty of items to choose from, but not too many to leave me confused. The store was clean and nothing was on the floor or out of place. I spent a good bit of time searching my e-mail for my coupon. When I asked the cashier if there was a sales paper around with coupons in it, he said he could scan a 20% off coupon for me. When a sale item rang up incorrectly, the cashier didn't hesitate to call for a price check. I hate holding up lines and was about to tell him not to worry about it, but even the price check was quick and I left with everything I was looking for and more. The one and only issue I had was that the aisles were identified by only numbers instead of categories. My head stayed focused on my task at hand so I could have missed something, like a huge sign staring me right in my face. LOL! But really! Pros:While the staff are fairly allusive, when you have the opportunity to corner one for a question, they're helpful. I was one aisle over from one staffer, who was stocking the floor, and answering multiple questions from several different customers. I was amazed at her composure, kindness, and just overall impressed with her customer service. Then the cashier that rang up my purchase was so kind and polite. It's a great place to shop for maker items. Cons:the long lines with customers and their challenges at the register. Ugh. read more

Went with my sister this morning to Michael's in Hammond Aire along with my 9 year old and 3 year old nephew...they never made it inside the doors. I went ahead of them while they we're getting the 3 year old out of car seat...9 year old got a buggy...3 year old mad because he wanted to get buggy...sister talking the 3 year old down and he stopped crying..all this before the came in the store. Now remember I was already in store..there was a customer and employee standing at the door waiting to see if they were coming in and making comments about my nephew ....customer says to employee oh gosh it looks like they are coming in here...sorry...I will call u later...take care here they come...ooh goody. Yes..I was mad and went outside and told my sister I wasn't going to shop in that Michael's and let's go to Joann's...we started to walk to the car..she went on I told her I would be right back, went in and asked to speak to the manager and the sales clerk told me the manager was the lady talking at the door about my nephew and sister..I told her what had happened and that we were not shopping here...because of the way they treat customers...the manager needs to be sure of her surroundings before she say's anything out loud...will be a cold day before I go back in THAT Michael's!!!!!! read more

The employees here are very helpful and actually know where you can find anything. They have good sales. I went perusing in there trying to find some crafts for the kids during summer to keep them off the Xbox. Success! They have tons of options. It's not as big as Hobby Lobby, but if you're looking for a craft of any sort, I'm sure they can help you. I just never think to go there because it's kinda far from my house. read more

I left tonight after an unfortunate encounter with one of the sales people. I won't be back. If your staff is off the clock, there are acceptable ways to communicate this fact. Ugly, rude and speaking to a customer like a child really does not belong in customer contact positions. I went across town to a competitor and found exactly what I needed. The store is messy and disorganized. Way finding signage is not installed even though the fixtures are there. There were two salespeople visible in the store. One was running a register with a long line. The other was Mr. Superior. All I wanted to know was if there was another ribbon display that I missed. I found it odd that there were no July Fourth decorations out at the end of may and I needed red white and blue ribbon. I recommend avoiding this location. read more

This store is a disgrace. i feel sorry for the people who work there. the store is a mess. you can never find a cashier and no one wants to help you. i needed to return something and i had to wait 20 min before a manger could come turn a key so they could give me my money. the cashier call for the manger several times and they never came. when the manger finally did come they had a bad attitude and rushed me away. they are rude and inconsiderate. i had a coupon once for 40% off any non-sale item well every thing over 10 dollars was on sale for 20% off. i will never shop there again and i pitty the people who do and the people who have to work there. by the way they need some new music because that depressing 5 song CD sucks. read more
