Hobby Lobby is a great place to kill some time and browse, get ideas for decorations, and find a lot of things you forgot you needed. As for this location, my first thing to note, if there is a large puddle in the parking lot, don't park in it. It's not rain water - there is a sewage issue and the parking lot often has flooded spots. I parked near it on my last visit, and you could smell the sewage and there was wet tissue in the puddle. Just find another spot. I can usually find what I am looking for at a decent price here. Lots of items are damaged, but you have to know what you're getting. Also, if you're buying something with words, check the spelling. An associate and I had a great laugh at a few misspelled Christmas items last year. There are usually some pretty good sales on most the things, so I'll stock up on little holiday extras here and there. They have a lot of registers, but usually only a few are open. I like the staff there mostly, everyone is pretty friendly. I also notice that, unlike the Dollar Tree next door, they actively keep people away from loitering at the doors. read more

I don't understand why craft stores always have the poorest customer service though. Whatever hobby you plan on taking up, this place will surely have what you need. How can you not like Hobby Lobby? They have everything craft wise! I couple spend a long time in there just walking around. The store is huge. Each section is divided into different crafts. You can find assortments of beads to make jewelry. Tons of flowers and wreaths. Rows of fabric and sewing supplies. Drawing books and drawing equipment. Craft kits, model kits, paints, t-shirts! I am going to start off by saying I can see why I suddenly stopped going to this store. Not because I lost my passion for art, but this place just isn't like it used to be. I went to the fabric area to get some fabric for a project I'm doing. The older White lady had two White women ahead of me. She took her precious time cutting the fabric along with talking about nonsense with those customers. Once I walked up, her demeanor changed. I'm not shocked, I know how it is here. She asks me how much I wanted and I showed her a yard. She tells me that's a yard. Uh yeah, that's why I indicated that... Then to top it off, I was overcharged for this fabric(by her) and had to go back three days later(because you know, HL isn't open on Sundays just like Chick-fil-A). I appreciated the patience of the young lady who helped me but here's a heads up. HL uses codes to charge your products. Some of the items do not have barcodes. So expect to be overcharged by the cashier who may accidentally enter the wrong code or a prejudice sun burnt revenant in fabric. Check your receipts before you leave the parking lot. This is a dangerous store for my best friend and I to be in. We use to shop til we dropped here. They have the cutest items I will usually see in any arts and crafts store. I usually try to catch wall stickers on 50% off. They have almost everything I would love to put in my own home if I had one. From picture frames to storage units and more. I could literally spend hours browsing in each section. If I wasn't on a budget, I would pick up almost everything I laid my eyes and hands on. The picture frames often go on sale and boy do they have cute frames! My friend recently brought baskets to store stuff for 50% off original price. About 9 baskets for $75 bucks, whereas her mom was picking up a few baskets at TJ Maxx and Marshalls for almost $13+ bucks a piece. They also sell small pieces of furniture in the front of the store like a small patio table with chairs and such. For people who love to sew, there's a department to pick up fabrics and items to your hearts content. I love doodling so there's an art area in the back with paper, pens and etc. Just about anything you can think of that's crafty it's there! Pretty cool craft store...ass-load of items on Sale...excellent framing department... I bought my brother-in-law, at a charity auction, a Bert Jones (The Ruston Rifle) LSU jersey and it needed to be framed...my sister took it here to make that happen and I happened to be along when it was time to pick it up...Damn they did one helluva bang up job on framing the jersey of one of the all time LSU legends!! Wasn't really paying to much attention to my surroundings until we got to the check out and things slowed down, way down...behind a 75+ yoa lady that musta had 3 coupons!! But the cashier NEVER lost her smile or her friendly attitude...gave me time to gawk at the prospective purchases of the lady behind us.... She had a killer coffee table, rustic looking, for dirt cheap...think the tag showed 40% off... Pretty good arts and crafts store. It puts Michael's to shame in my opinion. They have ALMOST everything I need when I go in there. FYI, they don't have cloth tablecloths. That is a necessity for me when throwing a party. Anyways, I get all my children's art project stuff from here. The employees are pretty knowledgeable about where everything is as well. The framing department is lacking in my opinion. You have to wait to be serviced...FOREVER. It is the same thing with the checkout counter and the fabric department as well. My review is for the gardening area. I went in looking for cheap clay pots for my new-found hobby of growing plants. I didn't find the exact thing I was looking for, but I did find clay pots that were not broken (unlike Walmart) and were correctly labeled with the price (unlike Walmart) and were on their correct place on the shelf (again, unlike Walmart!). What sweetened the deal for me was that the entire gardening section was half off. So I ended up getting six pots for $10. I think that's a great deal. The store is pretty huge and they have a huge selection of faux flowers and plants. I wish there were more staff members around to answer questions etc. I'll update this review when I visit the other sections of the store. read more

Wow. Every Time I walk into this store I get both excited and a little anxious. There is just SO much crafts materials. I went in today to find burlap by the yard and ribbon. I must have walked around the store 4 times- completely lost. Customer service here was not very good. I asked one worker where something was. "I don't know. Go to framing, it's crazy here- come back at 12 when more people get here". Although I appreciate his time, the extra attitude was not necessary. I enjoy crafting, but until the CS improves, I may have to shop elsewhere. read more

Maybe I'm obsessed, but it's a healthy obsession--there's such a thing, right? It is my one stop shop for almost everything--holiday decorations, picture frames, ideas/inspirations, home decorating, sewing, crafting, party planning, etc. If I am looking for something and I don't know where to find it I usually start at Hobby Lobby. For their holiday items, usually a few weeks before the actual holiday the items will be 30% off. The week after items will be up to 80%. Who doesn't love a sale?! Awesome place if you love crafts and cool home decor. There is so much to see here, you could spend hours walking the isles and still not see it all. From holiday decorations to candles to furniture to home decor to sewing to all kinds of art supplies. This place is amazing !!! Second time recently going to hobby lobby. The first time the cashier was so rude and wouldn't even look at me. It was almost funny, because whenever she handed me my bag she said "here." and held out her hand without looking at me. I understand people have off days but it was really rude and I felt like they didn't even want me to buy anything. Just went today looking for an exploding gift box, where you can put lots of pictures in them. I wasn't sure if they had it or not but figured a craft store would be my best bet. I started looking for it myself but realized I would need some help. I showed a picture to a worker and asked if they had them. She said "uuuh I have never seen that before. Try the party area up front." I went to the front and couldn't find them so I asked another worker and she said "go to the paper section." I went there and couldn't find them. Asked another worker who said they do not have them. I would have loved to have been told this before walking around the whole store for 20 min. when they didn't have them. Maybe if the first worker had walked with me to see if they had them, I would have saved some time instead of getting directed to different areas. I just would have preferred someone a little nicer and understanding both times because I understand if you do not have something or aren't having the best day but I believe when you are at work it's your job to be kind and try to help the customer as much as you can... I have been there a couple of times now to get things for the shop. The staff was somewhat helpful both times, but only when asked. The last time though, one of the guys in the frames department was very helpful and friendly. Some of the other staff just looked grumpy. I realize this was on a day they were stocking things though. I've shopped at this location for many years. I prefer the location on O'Neal Lane in Baton Rouge, but when they don't have what I'm looking for or are out of stock, I will go to this location and they save my day! I would recommend they keep their store a little bit cleaner such as sweeping, putting things back on shelves where they go, organizing stock, removing damaged or empty packages from shelves, etc. The staff are friendly but I find them more friendly at the O'Neal location which is 1 reason that is my preferred location. They have ordered things they were out of for me before, which was nice. There needs to be more employees around to ask for help though. They lack in that area at both locations. Parking lot is well lit at this location (where it is not at the other location). Prices are very competitive with larger more well known national arts and crafts stores. The customer service at this store is terrible. I went to this location a few months ago with approximately 7 items I need matted and framed. There were two employees in the framing department. One was helping another customer and the other was casually stocking the shelves. I stood around and waited to be helped. 5 minutes passed, 10 minutes passed, finally I asked the guy stocking shelves if he could assist me since the other employee was busy with a customer. He looked at me like I was insane and told me to wait while he ran to the back for a minute.....he never came back. so I left... with nothing framed. I was extremely disappointed. read more
