After doing my research and getting some crap over the phone from my first choice, I decided to give Piedmont Endocrinology a try. I called and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She advised of a recent cancellation and could squeeze me in the following Friday - perfect! She told me I would be seeing Dr. El-Kebbi. I arrived 30 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment to complete all of the new patient paperwork. After I was done, friendly receptionist called me up to the window to advise me that Dr. El-Kebbi was a few minutes behind schedule, but I was his next patient. She apologized for the delay and I went back to playing Jewel Mania. I'm usually super super anal about being on time. Maybe I'm just jaded now because I'm convinced that no doctor is ever on time, but I at least appreciated the fact that she took the time to tell me that he was running a little late. With previous doctors, most just let you sit there until you realize your appointment was supposed to be 45 minutes ago. So 5 or 10 minutes later, I'm called back. I'm taken to an exam room by a super friendly guy who's name escapes me. He also apologizes for the delay and emphasizes that Dr. El-Kebbi really doesn't like being late. We go over some basic info and he advises that the Doc will be in a moment. Let me first say that my previous doctor was a bit standoffish. Nice enough, just didn't seem overly personable or concerned. I experienced the complete opposite with Dr. El-Kebbi. He was warm and friendly and very interested in my medical care. He provided valuable insights into certain aspects of my medical care that I feel were lacking with my previous doctor. I honestly felt like I was speaking with a friend the whole time. There was one awkward moment when he seemed to fail to understand how I could be so certain that I would not be getting pregnant, but we got through that. It's quite funny in retrospect. The whole appointment went exactly how I feel a doctor's appointment should go. I'm almost (but not quite) willing to overlook the tardiness, but we'll see how that goes in future visits. I highly highly recommend Dr. El-Kebbi to anyone in the market for a new endocrinologist.

I arrived for my appointment on Wednesday. Not the greatest drive from Marietta, but worth it. Dr. Patel is my new favorite endo ever. She's young, up to date on the latest research on Thyroid health, and spent real, quality time with me going over my chart and medical history. I was in and out in about an hour (even as a new patient) - including labs. The lab technicians were friendly, quick and painless as was the check out process. Overall, I'm very pleased!

Other physicians had avoided discussing the problem (telling me anything); a technician some years ago was the first to mention there was a problem with my eye. It is too much to go through all of the negative experiences before a friend referred me to Dr. Segal earlier this year. I spoke with Dr. Weiner's office person Jane when I called to schedule an appointment. It was as if we had met previously & had known each other for some time. She was warm, patient & shared other information with me that was needed & very helpful (not related to my eye problem). She was the same on the day of my appointment. I had to wait to see the doctor, as has been the case with all of my doctors' appointments, but Dr. Weiner, WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I also said that to a man who commented on how long he had been waiting and another man agreed with what I said. Someone once said, "You can tell a good doctor by the number of people waiting in the office." Dr. Weiner was absolutely wonderful!! She took some time to get to know me and what I have been experiencing, which I thought was excellent. I never felt rushed at all!! She asked appropriate questions re my past history, especially specific to my eye, explained as we talked; I felt comfortable and asked questions when I needed more information. I said to Dr. Weiner, "I had to wait 7 years to find out what the problem is with my eye." I had been to Emory for several years and another ophthalmologist before seeing Dr. Segal & then Dr. Weiner. I thank God for my friend who referred me to Dr. Segal, both physicians, their I had read the negative reviews posted before calling for an appointment, and was not deterred because I realize many people do not understand why children should not be running around in an office with people who are visually impaired, not feeling well, whatever. I also know that the people in the doctor's office do not know the specifics of everyone's insurance and cannot tell us if our insurance will definitely pay the entire bill or not. It is our obligation to know and understand what our insurance coverage is and the process for having our insurance company make payment. At my visit with Dr. Segal last week I told him that he is no longer #1. He did a sad face :-) and asked who is now #1. I told him that he is tied for #1 with Dr. Weiner. He smile and said, "Well that's okay; didn't I tell you she's wonderful." He went on about Dr. Weiner for a couple of minutes.

After 12 sessions from April to May of 2024, getting no bill and proactively asking, I received a bill January 23, 2025 for just under $500. Additionally, online billing is extremely limited. No portal to check active billing. To get a copy of the invoice you need to call and have them email or text you the invoice. Very inconvenient and as far as I'm concerned, sneaky billing practices. Service was generally good with one exception: double-booking patients!

Original 1 star review: I would give five stars for my therapists but I just got a bill owing more money after my $60 copay. Well apparently my insurance didn't cover the whole cost but instead of telling me during the 11 or 12 visits that I actually owed $74 per visit, benchmark let me continue to pay the lower price and then send me a bill for the rest after my last visit. I called my insurance company and they said that benchmark knew what I actually owed and every time I paid the $60 a portion of that would go to what I previously owed so it was always covered then they bill you for what is left over. I would never have continued to go as many times as I did for $74 a visit and to avoid that they lie. That's lying by omission, bait and switch tactic, and they should be ashamed.

The precision of his work is truly remarkable. My post-operative X-rays clearly demonstrate the meticulous care and technical excellence he brings to his craft--an image truly worth a thousand words. I genuinely believe this type of surgery is both a science and an art, and Dr. Refai is a master of both. Because I am a small person, he thoughtfully designed and fitted a cage specifically for my smaller anatomy. That level of individualized surgical planning speaks volumes about his expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for each patient. Equally impressive is Dr. Refai's outstanding bedside manner. He is kind, patient, reassuring, and truly listens. At every stage before and after surgery, he took time to explain, answer questions, and ensure I felt informed and confident. His compassion and calm presence made an enormous difference in my experience. Just as remarkable was the entire Emory care team. The nurses and staff were consistently kind, patient, attentive, and professional. He even proceeded to tell me that people like me make his head spin. He even claimed that he is not my doctor when I told him I came in to have a discussion about this with my doctor. He was very unpleasant and physically incapable of completing thoughts or speaking rationally once he learned i didn't want to take the Covid vaccine.
