They prescreen with questions before you come in, and when you do come for your appointment they require that you answer those questions again and take your temperature. The front desk wears masks throughout your visit, and when the Doctors and assistants are working on you, they are fully suited up. You can trust this practice to take the utmost care in ensuring that you and their staff are as safe as possible. Now, for the review: The truth is that I have put off some major dental care for a while because, of course, some of the work that I need is quite expensive. Dr. Sean patiently explained to me that while I can continue to put off some of the work that I need, they can become bigger issues and will likely end up costing more in the long run. Fair enough. I was referred to Dr. Cohen at Golden State Endodontics across the parking lot (review is live for them) for a root canal. I came back to Plaza Dental Care after the root canal to have a crown placed on me by Dr. Sepi. While Dr. Sean completed my initial exam, Dr. Sepi was the one who went in and prepared the crown. And good grief, I can honestly say that she has the utmost caring bedside manner! She put me totally and completely at ease, even though I don't have a phobia of dental work. She included some touches that really made the experience as pleasant as possible. Between her and the dental assistant, Paula, they were efficient, made jokes, and even hummed, all the while making sure I was comfortable along the way. They also make the crowns in-house! If you've had crowns before you know that you can sometimes wait a couple of weeks to go back in, which is a major pain. This way, you're in and out within a few hours. All in all, I'm so grateful they were able to fit me in, and I'm glad that I have found my new regular dental practice. Thanks Dr. Sepi, and crew! :)

My estimates were quite high, whereas the Berkeley "Refresh" dentist I went to yesterday had a much lower estimate including a treatment plan to save teeth your office was going cap & crown. I have had a few crowns replaced in the last few years and never had the attention paid to me that Dr. Makkiyah, and her teammates, Jared and Lydia did. From x-rays to final cementing of new crowns, they were amazing, explaining everything to me very carefully and then executing with the utmost care and precision. They have amazing technology that assists them with the best possible delivery. They were able to remove two old crowns, measure for new ones and have those ready in just a couple of hours. I am so impressed. But again, this alone would not be that impressive if it weren't for the team's caring and concern for my comfort and well being. They made a not very fun procedure into something more than tolerable. Even when she administered the pain shots, they did something that made that less painful. I also wear Invisalign retainers so they made a point of keeping the shape of the crowns exactly as my old ones were, saving me the expense of obtaining new retainers. In my lifetime, I have probably been to at least 7 dentists in various cities and I wish I had met Dr. Makkiyah sooner!

update: i just wanted to come back and update my review! after going to a different dentist…read morefollowing my horrible experience here, i was able to get a routine cleaning with no issue. there was no need for me to get the "deep cleaning" they claimed i needed. they wanted to numb me and do a much more extensive and expensive cleaning while i was pregnant, just for me to find out afterward that it wasn't even necessary. it honestly made me feel like they were more concerned about making money than actually doing what was best for me. save yourself the trouble and get a second opinion or just choose a different place altogether. after my experience, i truly don't feel like they care about their patients here, just making a profit.

Jean at the front desk is very helpful explaining the dental options and insurance numbers. The dental assistants are charming, friendly and quick. I was trying to check them for wedding rings in hopes for my single son. I'm sad yet happy to report they all wear gloves. The best though to me was Dr. Castillo. A refreshingly honest man. He actually told me that I could put the dental work off for the time being. Oh Doctor. By the way. I believe a bit of a pad attached to the top and or bottom of your front door might help alleviate that horrible metal on metal slamming noise made every time the front door closes.
