Brought my 4 year old son here for after being referred by two of my friends. We were able to book an appointment the day of which is huge for us. Grace was so friendly and talented. After we left my son even said "I want to go back to that hair cut place and see that lady ". read more

I visit Daelynne as my wax specialist on the regular. Her room is cute, and super clean. I CANNOT explain to you how comfortable you will feel with this woman while she's eye deep on your lower half working her magic! She's professional, kind, caring and is a really great therapist in my opinion! If I could give her 20 stars I could. And if I got my hair done by someone other than my sister, she would be my girl.... Check her work out, she's flat out amazing read more

I moved here from California, and was terrified to get a haircut. We passed by the Michael Thomas salon, and from the outside it looked beautiful. I went online, looked through the customer photos, and made an appointment. I went last week to get a haircut. The salon is absolutely beautiful. The Customer service from the moment you walk in is fantastic. I was super pleased with my haircut, and the price point was spot on. I will definitely come back. read more

Unless all you want is a shampoo & large barrel curls, DON'T go to Julie. I asked for something a slight bit different, but she didn't use the right tools so it came out the same. I wasn't mad ( a little frustrated), but I left her a nice holiday tip and left. I have been going to Julie for 5 months ( she is an apprentice under Keri, the owner). 30 minutes later, I get a call from the Keri, saying Julie was in tears cuz I wasn't happy; Keri wanted me to be happy . . .but. . .I brought BAD ENERGY into the salon, so I wasn't welcome there anymore. No concern for my satisfaction; no listening to my side of the story; no " you can see a different more experienced stylist"; like. . .WHAT??? The stylists all seamed so relaxed & friendly- till they weren't. I have never had a more bizarre experience with a hair salon! read more

I received a haircut from Spencer last month, and was sooo pleased with the results! I have an intense anxiety of getting my haircut for fear of it turning out poorly (who doesn't fear a bad haircut amirite?). I slaved over Manchester, NH salon reviews for hours before deciding on Michael Thomas. I really had nothing to be worried about! The front desk staff made me feel right at home, and offered me a beverage. Spencer first asked me what I struggle with when it comes to hair maintenance, and really listened to what I wanted in a cut. I've had long hair my whole life, and decided to give it a significant chop. He then washed and conditioned my hair. They also massage your scalp which is really nice! I'm weird about where I part my hair, but Spencer listened to my request and followed my parting directions before beginning the cut. He's super great to talk to, and keeps the conversations light and fun. He didn't make it feel like a job interview and ask prying questions (which often happens at salons, nail place, doctors, etc.) After the cut, he gave me a fresh blowout which lasted for 2 days. I'm not from the Manchester area, and Spencer gave me a list of things to do while I'm here this summer which was incredibly thoughtful. Overall, my experience cost me $65 (including a $10 tip), and it was worth every penny. I was super, super happy with my cut and glad I went to Michael Thomas. read more

I recently came here for a drastic change- bleaching my dark brown hair to platinum. I had never done anything as far as color goes and Spencer was knowledgeable and informative along every step of the way! All of the other staff were great and friendly as well. It's a great atmosphere and worth every penny. I can definitely recommend MTS and will return in the future. read more

First Impressions: Good service but overpriced First of all, this is a nice salon. It's in a lovely old building with very high ceilings, wide-planked hardwood floors...tons of character. The salon itself is clean, stylish and very open and inviting. You know that the owner and stylists take pride in working here. I called to make an appointment and spoke to someone about the different stylists and the different costs. The owner and master stylist, Keri, was ridiculously expensive. I discussed the different costs and merits of the different stylists and settled on Stephanie. I went in for a semi-permanent color and cut. Stephanie greeted me on time and brought me back to her station. We discussed what I wanted--I asked for something "different" but told her I really didn't know what that really meant. She suggested an all-over layering of my hair to give it a different shape and more movement and also suggested some changes in my color. I agreed. She did the color, and then spent a great deal of time on the cut. She was meticulous. She then blew the hair dry and styled it. It was a nice cut, but I really didn't see much different in the shape and cut of my hair. But it was still an excellent cut. What I didn't like was that she left a great deal of color in my hair. It took a week to wash out the excess color even though Stephanie took great pains to shampoo my hair thoroughly. The color treatment itself left my hair very coarse--very different from the products that my other stylist had used (PM Shines--great color, and leaves your hair shiny and silky smooth). All in all, I got a good cut and okay color. But the cost at Michael Thomas was almost DOUBLE that of the other stylist I recently tried with very little discernible difference. So, I'm going back to the first person I tried in the area (I just moved here recently); not the best stylist (I'm not into big hair), but decent cut and color. read more

I went here for the first time...just yesterday. I moved to Manchester a couple months ago and have been shopping around for the right place for me. Karen was super welcoming and the business is small and locally owned. You can feel good about going there and feel good while you're there. I'll definitely go back and I'll also tell my colleagues and friends about it. No one enjoys getting waxed, so you might as well enjoy where you get waxed. Check Michael Tomas out, you won't be sorry! A tad pricey...I just don't like to skimp on this! And they let me bring my bike inside :) read more

I don't normally take the time to write reviews but I thought this warranted the time to speak. First, earlier in the week I had tried a new salon in Manchester and received the haircut from hell. I came home feeling horrible. The next day I had to be out of town for the day so I had to put haircut aside. I got home last night and took a chance and called Michael Thomas to see if Jeffery could fit me in to fix the disastrous cut I had . The receptionist was so understanding and she spoke to Jeffery personally to see where they could fit me in. Jeffery fit me in this morning coming in early to work his magic and fix my hair. I walked out of the new salon feeling human again and with such gratefulness that they felt so compelled to help me out. Thank you Michael Thomas and Jeffery for a wonderful experience. I will be back. Beautiful new location on 2nd St. with great parking. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Jeffery and everyone else who works here as well! From the moment I walked through the door till the moment I left I felt so taken care of and welcomed. Jeffery did a fantastic job with my haircut and answered endless questions about care and routine. He left my curls looking beautiful and giving me lots of tips about how to get the look I want! He remembered my friend who referred me here and told me about some differences between our hair types. It's obvious he cares about his customers and his creativity and skill are notch! read more

I am a transgirl, and I stopped in here today to check on some things and get some information for a waxing. The woman who I worked with was EXTREMELY helpful, understanding, and she could tell I was anxious to get this done, as she was willing to work after hours to make sure I could get this taken care of. I can not recommend this location enough, and I haven't even sampled the service yet. But a trans friendly location? Incredibly rare. Please, if you need to find a salon, give these folks your business and support. read more

This is my happy place! Beautiful, modern salon, I absolutely love it and my stylist, Brittany. She takes the time before each visit to talk about my last visit, likes and dislikes and what I want to accomplish at each appointment. When I first starting going to Michael Thomas my hair was a COMPLETE DISASTER! The color was about 5 different shades and dry from previous processing. Within 3 visits my hair is the exact color I wanted (and repeatedly asked my previous stylist for) and my hair is in a much healthier state. Checking out is just as pleasant as the rest of my visit as the receptionist there is super sweet and helpful and you can tell she really enjoys her job! I think it's important to also note that I never feel pressure to purchase the styling products they sell which is something the previous salon I went to always did, making the end of my appointments awkward and uncomfortable. Every visit here is relaxing, as it should be and I always leave feeling fabulous! I can't say enough great things about this salon and their entire staff. I highly recommend it. read more

Bethany is amazing! I had a great first experience with her for a haircut and new products. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, and gave great recommendations. Doesn't hurt that she has amazing hair herself so it's clear she knows how to take care of it and style it beautifully. Next time I'm going to get balayage too!! she earned my trust. read more

Michael Thomas Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Manchester, New Hampshire

I just love this place so much! First of all the salon is beautiful.. really beautiful. It has a warm and calming decor that invites you right in. The staff at the front desk are so sweet, helpful and kind. They immediately make sure you are taken care of. Now my hair, which is long, coarse and thick has never looked and felt better as it does now. Keri takes time to really understand my needs and desires for my hair and delivers those expectations 100% of the time. I will never go anywhere else. I have been to many salons all over the country and have never had hair this fabulous! read more

So before I went here Thursday, I had NEVER colored my hair before. I went in with lots of pictures, questions and ideas of what I wanted. My hair is very dark, and I wanted a caramel balayage. The color I got was farrrr from the pictures I showed her. It is a weird blonde, orange color. (It looks like I went to CVS and tried to dye my hair with box color). That was bad enough, but on top of that, its not even balayage! It's kind of like a failed ombre look. It goes from nearly black to the blonde/orange color. Awful, awful, awful. Can't email them, there is never anyone I can speak to when I call. Over all, just a very horrible experience. I would never recommend this place. Not even to my worst enemy. read more

I love this place! The location is absolutely wonderful. Ruthie is an absolute hair wizard. She has always worked with me when I have decided to do bad things to my hair on my own. She makes any hot mess with hair into something wonderful. She always listens and knows exactly what to do to make things right again. She has always been able to fix my mistakes even when I had budget restraints. She can also recommend some amazing aveda makeup! The atmosphere is warm and the employees are wonderful! read more

My skin looks Amazing!!! I had an off the chart skin care appt. with Jen. So relaxing and very real results. The peel and enzyme treatments were on par with medical grade treatments I've had in past. And I finally got a derma plane. Wow my skin is so soft!!!! So pleased. Highly recommend Jen!!!!!!!! read more

I recently moved to the Manchester area and was in desperate need of a trim. I looked this salon up on yelp.com and found good reviews- and a coupon along with it- so I went ahead and booked an appointment. The salon space is in an old mill building with tall, lofty ceilings. I loved the open space and atmosphere. My stylist Bethany did an excellent job at fixing my long, disjointed layers and split ends. The result was a head of hair that framed my face beautifully with nice long layers. I also got a deep conditioning treatment to help neutralize chlorine from swimming several days a week. So far I am very happy with the cut, and I would say this place is well worth it despite the prices. I'll be heading back a week or so from now to get my old highlights taken out, so I'll update you on the color then. My coloring is scheduled with Chelsea. read more

I've been coming to MT for over six years now, and I'm just as happy today as my first appointment. I have to continue to praise Caryn. I've been coming to her for years, and although I am always beyond pleased with the work she does, she always continues to confirm that I'm happy with my brow wax. It has always shown that she truly cares that I am happy with her work. I recently decided to take some time for me and schedule my first facial with Caryn. As Caryn got me settled in the room, she told me all about the products that she had selected for my appointment. I truly felt as if she took the time to personalize the appointment and services to me. Although it was my first facial, Caryn explained everything that she was doing and why. I know that even if it wasn't my first facial Caryn would have explained what she was doing. She's a true professional who cares about her clients and wants them to feel comfortable with the treatment and services they receive. I've been incredibly happy with every appointment I've come to and will continue to praise and recommend Caryn. read more

I absolutely, thoroughly adore this place. I can not say enough good things about it. I am moving out of the area soon, but I will continue to come here regularly for hair coloring and cutting. Ruthie, in particular, is my favorite hairdresser I have ever had. She makes me feel comfortable, beautiful and completely at ease when I'm sitting in her chair. I look forward to every single visit. I have never had a hairdresser like this before. Absolutely outstanding place. read more

I have been going to this Salon for 2 years since my office moved to Manchester. I believe Jeffrey is one of the most talented and personable hair stylists anywhere. I'm a grad student that was new to the area and looking for a new salon and came across Michael Thomas Salon in my search. This is honestly the best salon I have ever been to! So far I have been here three times, twice for a hair cut and once for a brow wax. Brittany G. was my hair stylist for both haircuts and the very first appointment she spent at least 10 minutes asking me about my hair, which products I used and how I wanted me hair to look. I have VERY naturally curly hair and Brittany did a great job of cutting and styling my hair so it would not be weighed down by my curls. Never have I had a hair stylist do that great of a job. She is excellent, and has been cutting hair for nearly 10 years so she knows exactly what she's doing. Highly recommend her! Caryn V. did my brow wax and did a great job! She begins by looking in the mirror with you and asks exactly what you want and then gives her expert opinion on how she wants to shape them. They came out great, and I especially liked that she didn't go too thin, I think that is a down fall of a lot of other places I have been to. I will definitely be back! This salon is pricey, but totally worth it, I firmly believe you get what you pay for and when it comes to haircuts and waxing I definitely think everyone should splurge. Definitely give the place a try! read more

After looking through many yelp reviews of local hair salons, I decided to go to Michael Thomas Salon. I booked online without even having any relationship previous which was very helpful to my very busy schedule. I love the salon, it has this trendy, yet calming and inviting feel to it and is VERY clean. Brittany was great and took my boring over grown out hair and turned it into a masterpiece. I came home after and my husband said the sweetest thing, he said "WOW! Look at at your hair, this is the best haircut I've ever seen on you." I agreed and he was happy to hear I've found my new home for my hair! Thank you so much!! read more

My cousin and I are from the Boston area, but she got married in Bedford over the weekend. We wanted to get our hair blown out before the rehearsal dinner and found Michael Thomas based on the fabulous reviews. We were not disappointed! We both have very thick hair that's not easy to blow out. She had Jeffrey and I had Spencer. Not only were both of them absolutely lovely to chat with (felt like we knew them for years!) but they also did an exceedingly superb job on each of our hair. We are sad we can't go to them all the time! Such a great experience, thank you for starting off our weekend so well. read more

Beyond amazing! I am not a person who ever writes a review but this place deserves one! I moved here from LA stressed like crazy where I can go and who I can trust. I will recommend this place to everyone I talk to and a huge shout out to Bethany! She did exactly what I asked for without pressuring me to do anything else. And she styled my hair wonderfully afterwards. I will be going to her everytime. If you are nervous about this salon don't be!!! You will not regret it!!! read more

Michael Thomas Salon is amazing. I don't think I ever want to go anywhere else to get my hair done. All of their stylists are so knowledgable and sweet. Spencer colored my hair back in December and I'm still getting compliments. Jeffrey has cut my hair the last three times and it always comes out exactly how I want. And I love the online booking tool because if one stylist isn't available within my schedule, I can see another stylist because I know that I can trust any one of them. They all really take the time to listen to you. Honestly, I've never gotten so many compliments before going to Michael Thomas Salon. I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

I found Michael Thomas on Yelp. I was not dissappointed. I am new to Manchester and had been going for 15 years to same stylist/salon in my former state. My first experience at this salon was actually not mine, it was my 12 year old son's. He's had a couple of haircut nightmares...one in particular on Newbury St. that left him looking like Herman Munster. Suffice it to say he suffers from salon-stylist phobia. We took a chance on Michael Thomas Salon at a friend's suggestion, and we are so happy we did! The staff was welcoming and attentive, the decor is modern, open, bright and comfy...leather chairs, coffee, tea, snacks and great magazines to browse while you wait. More important, of course, was the cut: perfect...exactly what the little man wanted. The stylist was Ruthie, and she was fantastic! She was sweet, she listened to him, and she delivered! I should also add that I watched her previous customer leave and was mesmerized by the shiny, precision cut. The little man is hooked, and I fear that I may need to 'cheat' on the Newbury St. stylist I've been seeing for the past 10 years... read more

Before writing this review, I tried 3 different salon professionals to cut my hair. All three were poor even though two of the three were senior level and charged over $40 per hair cut. The issue is that the salon professionals go through the perfunctory "Hi, how do you want your hair cut?" but then they do what they want regardless of what you asked them to do. It seems to be like a manufacturing line, where you sit down, they get the shears and threat you like a sheep being sheared of its wool. They only use scissors at the end to fine tune. I could have gone to SuperCuts for 1/3rd of the price for the same haircut. What they lacked was an understanding of contemporary and classic styling, the interest in customizing a haircut to tailor the person sitting in the chair as well as they lacked pride in their work. Would I recommend anyone to visit the Michael Thomas Salon? No. Would I return for another haircut? No. read more
