I wish that I had looked at the reviews before attending my appointment. The paperwork he makes you sign states that they will submit a claim to insurance within 90 days. After 90 days, I attempted to contact the office. This was in December of 2025. After leaving multiple voicemails and emails, I have still not heard back and have had no submission to my insurance. I am currently out of pocket hundreds of dollars. Not only has this financially been a nightmare experience, the doctor also stated while mid-colposcopy (if you've had one, you know) that "isn't this better than the dentist?" I feel compelled to update my previous review after recent developments. On 01/09/2025, this office finally submitted the insurance claim, despite my appointment being back in October 2024. However, I still have serious concerns regarding this practice. The doctor charged my insurance $3,159 for a pap smear and ultrasound--unbelievable. At the time of the appointment, I was told the cost was $275, which I paid in cash, as I was informed they didn't accept my insurance. Now, the office has submitted an insurance claim for over $3,100, and still, no refund has been issued for the $275 I paid out-of-pocket. I initially left a review sharing my frustration, and the doctor even asked me to remove it after submitting the insurance claim. But I can't ignore the feeling that this is an example of either greedy business practices or possible retaliation for my review. Why would I be charged both ways--cash up front and then billed to my insurance for a much higher amount? I'm still waiting on a refund, but I'm doubtful at this point. Just a heads-up to anyone considering this office--be careful about unexpected charges. read more

Total wack job of a doctor! There is sooo much to say about this nutcase that there aren't enough characters allowed here to say it all, but I'll share what I can. First off, his receptionist had a bad attitude upon me signing in, didn't even bother to greet me and seemed highly annoyed that I even came there. Secondly, they lie and say they are in network with your insurance, then the Dr. racks up the bill by performing unnecessary services and/or bill you for unperformed services at an outrageous rate, then when your insurance company doesn't pay him enough, he will email you pretending to be someone on his staff harassing you because the insurance company didn't pay him enough(although he is contracted at a particular rate that he accepted) or you'll find out that he wasn't even in your network then he'll send you a gargantuan bill and a nasty emails demanding payment or threatening to sue you even if you disagree with the lies on the bill about services you didn't receive at his office. His billing is more outrageous than a hospital bill! Just a pure money grab to put it lightly. He also claimed I had an issue with my ovaries and they needed to be removed. Thank goodness my insurance company didn't approve this wack job's request to do the surgery because I later got two different opinions and those doctors stated it was absolutely nothing wrong with my ovaries and it would've been a painful unnecessary procedure done in vain. This man is greedy, money hungry, horrible bedside manners, and the WORST doctor Ive ever seen in my life. You need to think 10x10 before you consider going to see this man! read more

I received a referral via my Fertility Provider for a very specific surgery to remove fibroids to continue my family planning journey. I want to say that people just fear what they don't understand however they the experience was horrible and at this time I " do not recommend". As if family planning is not horrible enough with the pressures and stresses to remain calm the Admin Lisa did not seem to care at all. Initially I engaged to inquire about the consultation and to relay the type of procedure I needed. Since I am bi-coastal and was shopping around I delayed forwarding my insurance details. A few days before my consultation the Provider experienced a death in the family to which I'm very sorry to hear and communicated that and was asked to reschedule - no worries. The new date was provided and on the day of the consultation Lisa emailed to advise insurance details were needed - this info was provided as requested. Not sure what happened at this point but things began to go south. Instead of hanging in there with the patient I got dropped like a fly and then lots of excuses followed. I was asked to pay out of pocket which I refused to do because my insurance covers the visit if billed. No accountability was taken during the engagement not even when the Provider engaged taking time out of his precious day which Dr Randell advised " other providers would not have given me the time of day". "One sentence stood out the most- predatory insurance practices." This truly was not the care that I needed or let alone deserved. I don't care if the verification of benefits took hours don't quit instead just push back the consultation to ensure me that you are in the fight with me and my family. In life you have to teach people how to treat you so as I take my surgery business elsewhere I lend a word to the wise. Folks partner with those who are willing to fight for you especially when you are going through the fight of your lifetime to get your family into fruition. I work across both coasts to feed my family I just think this office feared what they couldn't get their minds around. I have included the conversation because you really can't make poor customer service details up if you tried. I am also preparing the transcripts of the phone conversation with the provider again - absolutely horrible experience!! I had my first meeting in July with Dr. Randell for a fibroid removal consult, and that is where the issues began. Upon arrival, I was rushed through my symptoms and belittled during the session by the doctor. He was not interested in getting to know me as a patient, but rather another operation to add to his portfolio. The session continued with a bombardment of critical information without any documentation for me to reference while pushing paperwork on me. He stated that the paperwork was to allow him to schedule a follow-up appointment -- I later learned the papers were legally binding documents that hid a number of predatory fees. During the session, he looked in disgust while describing me as overweight and greasy - that I likely had PCOS despite a lack of proper evaluation. He clearly profiled me without compassion or consideration. The doctor only let me know the cost of the visit after the papers were signed. I was rushed through critical information and the payment was compulsory despite the medical malpractice I endured. I was deeply concerned about the price, as I was told the cost would be around $2.5 million. I attempted to call the office, but they did not pick up and instead texted me to request that correspondence be handled over text. I requested a change a procedure (to reduce the cost), to which they responded with a curt, cold "No." Their uncaring response did not inspire confidence that my delicate procedure would be handled with care or professionalism. The office did not notify me of the date or time of the follow-up appointment -- this was yet another critical piece of information hidden in the paperwork I was not given the proper amount of time to examine. The office then scheduled the appointment over a major holiday with 6 days notice, and I was unable to cancel or reschedule due to their policy requiring 14 days notice, which was impossible in this circumstance. They told me a cancellation fee would be $500. It is clear that this office will take every opportunity to take money from you. This policy was yet another critical piece of information hidden in the papers I was rushed to sign. The only way I was notified of this appointment was through Emory Hospital requesting my confirmation of an appointment that I was not made aware of or was notified had been scheduled. No pre-op appointment to review the procedure or provide comfort -- nothing. Throughout this entire experience, I was repeatedly subject to rude and disrespectful treatment -- especially when I let them know that I would not be proceeding with their office for my procedure. I strongly encourage anyone in need of a procedure to look elsewhere for the sake of their health and financial wellbeing. It was a dehumanizing experience and speaks volumes on the overall disregard for people of color in the medical field. read more

If I could give Dr. Michael Randell a million stars I would! I started going to him in 2005, he delivered my first and only child and he as well as his entire staff are GREAT! Very professional, brilliant, and he cares. I've never had an OBGYN that was so educated. My beautiful daughter (Raja) is now 14 and I would recommend him to anyone!!! read more

Dr. Randell is indeed, the fibroid king! I went to him in March 2017 and by early April, was fibroid free! After almost a year of horrible symptoms and quality of life, I had decided I wanted the monsters out. Dr. Randell is very knowledgeable and proud of his skills - which he should be. My surgery experience was phenomenal. I was super scared and all the hospital staff, as well as Dr. Randell, spent time assuring me I was in great hands. My hospital room was nice and clean and Dr. Randall spend time explaining my surgery afterwards. I would highly recommend Dr. Randell, but be prepared to spend more money than you would usually, as he is not in network for most people. That is my only complaint. However, quality of life and health are more important for me when it comes to dealing with fibroids. Good luck and tell him I sent you! read more

They said it was impossible but Dr. Randell said he could do it...and HE DID IT! It has been one week since Dr. Randell removed 11 of my large fibroids via minimally invasive robotic surgery and I feel awesome! I had been to other specialists and they all said that my fibroids were too large & too complex to remove via minimally invasive surgery and that I would need an open myomectomy if I wanted my fibroids removed. Dr. Randell assessed me 10/2021 and he performed my surgery 1/2022. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Randell. My 4-hour commute from Columbus, Mississippi to Dr. Randell's office in Atlanta was well worth it. Dr. Randell has changed my life and now I am ready for my new start!!!! Dr. Randell performed my Myomectomy in 2017 and I am so happy with the results. He is a truly gifted surgeon and an honorable man as well. His personality can be a bit offputting to some but I believe his tremendous talent is only eclipsed by his big heart. There are some real shady surgeons in Atlanta that will promise you one thing but deliver you another. You can trust Dr. Randell with your fertility future. He places the wishes of the patient over the bottom line of the insurance companies. My insurance company only wanted to pay for a hysterectomy because of my age. Dr. Randell fought back and had my fibroid surgery approved by my insurance provider despite the fact that it was cheaper to have the hysterectomy over the Myomectomy. My dream of becoming a mother one day is still a viable option thanks to Dr. Randell. read more

Dr. Randell is Randell is an excellent surgeon - staff needs work I previously had a complaint because I could not understand why it took nearly a year to get the refund paid for a surgery - but allow me to clarify. Dr. Randell is an excellent surgeon - and isn't that what we all want?! The surgery had a successful outcome with little downtime. Yes, his staff and billing folks may be a bit rough around the edges, however he runs one of the best surgery theaters in Atlanta, and is a clearly gifted, insightful and passionate surgeon. Dr. Randell is the best of the best! I had a 25cm subserosal fibroid removed via the DaVinci Robotic myomectomy procedure. No other doctor would perform this surgery. They all wanted to cut me open vertically and that was too terrifying and risky for me. I also could not be off work for that 6-8 week recovery time. Dr. Randell was able to remove my fibroid with two tiny incisions and my recovery has been wonderful so far. I knew I could trust Dr. Randell when we had our preop appointment. He knows his stuff and is confident in his work. He is the type of surgeon you want working on you!! He took his time and explained and answered all of my questions I had for preop to my mother and I. I could honestly go on and on about my wonderful experience with Dr. Randell. I was so sad and embarrassed by my big belly from the fibroid but Dr. Randell gave me my quality of life back and I am forever grateful to be one of his patients. read more

Dr. Randell completed my fibroid surgery in March 2017. I had 36 fibroids, nearly 8.5 lbs of tumor and Dr. Randell was able to remove them all and preserve my uterus for fertility. He was very attentive and answered the many questions I had in the office and promptly via email. Every other doctor I'd seen prescribed hysterectomy. As I don't have any children, it was really important to me to preserve my uterus and Dr. Randell did just that. I had a complication during recovery and had to return to the hospital. Dr. Randell was not only attentive and available to advise me to return to the hospital but he also checked in on me in person each day of my second hospital day. I am extremely thankful that I found Dr. Randell when I did. My fibroids were causing so many problems and I was desperate to get relief, but I wanted to keep my uterus. I was tired of feeling like a beach ball, getting asked when's the baby due, and periods that could rival murder crime scenes. Other gynecologists stated: "You have numerous fibroids, and you're past childbearing age, just have a hysterectomy". Dr. Randell reviewed my MRI and confidently stated that he could remove all of the fibroids. Dr. Randell's confidence and experience with previous complicated cases put me at ease. After surgery, I was relieved that Dr. Randell was able to perform surgery via a horizontal bikini line incision. I was shocked when he told me he removed a total of 107 fibroids! If I could give Dr. Randell ten stars, I would. This surgeon is amazing! He did what many local doctors told me they could not do (remove a massive fibroid without a hysterectomy), and traveling to have an open myomectomy with him was the best decision I could have ever made. The surgery was very successful - my abdomen was literally cut open and I never even had to take pain meds beyond the first day after surgery. The hospital nurses (Emory Saint Joseph's, which I also highly recommend!) said I did not even look like I had just had surgery. This just speaks to how wonderful he is. He does not have a kindergarten teacher personality, but frankly I appreciate a surgeon who exudes confidence and makes you feel like you are in highly capable hands. He takes great pride in his work for good reason; he can do what many doctors won't even try! And he is a caring, extremely thorough doctor who makes you feel like you are his only patient. Not only did he actually review and explain my MRI images pre-surgery, which NO other ob/gyn I saw wanted to do, he came by to check on me every day after surgery and fit me into his busy schedule for an appointment before I flew home. Yes, you have to pay him up front for surgery, but you can't blame him for wanting to make sure he gets paid considering the highly specialized work he does...and do you really want to count coins when your uterus is at stake?? If you have a complex fibroid situation, PLEASE don't gamble on an ob/gyn, just go with Dr. Randell!! And it does not matter where you live because this office is so accommodating to out of town patients. Everything can be done over phone and email and they work with you when the inevitable technological challenges pop up. read more

Dr. Randell is an amazing surgeon offering exceptional care to his patients. If you have fibroids he is the best there is. I had a myomectomy to remove a huge fibroid that had distorted my utreus and caused fertility issues. I was told by other doctors that surgery would still leave my uterus distorted & scarred but after my surgery with Dr. Randell everything is looking great. I have a normal healthy utreus back. He is a miracle worker and a one of a kind doctor who truly cares about his patients. I highly recommend and trust Dr. Randell's care. read more

Dr. Randell is a highly skilled surgeon -- and he's good in that role. His administrative team and billing group however make the overall experience miserable. If you aren't worried about the cost or being reimbursed, then you have no worries. If you expect to work with his team to ensure that your insurance pays for some or all of your procedures, his office probably isn't the best fit for you. read more

Doctor Randell is seriously a miracle worker!I had an 18cm large, rare and bizarre Dermoid cyst on my left ovary. It was so large that it was pushing my other organs out of the way. Another cyst on my right ovary and a fibroid in my uterus. I went to another OBGYN who told me I would need to be cut open and would never have children. I'm only 25 and I want a big family. (Like 7 kids big) We found doctor Randell and from the very first appointment he was amazing. So confident and knowledgeable. He told me everything I needed to be prepared. The surgery went better than expected! He some how removed an 18cm robotically through my belly button! The surgery was very minimally invasive and it doesn't hurt at all while I'm I recovery. He somehow preserved my ovary and uterus and I still can have that big family that I want! I seriously thank God for Doctor Randell. What he is doing is amazing. The fact that he specializes in this makes it better. Such a heart for women and not at all like other doctors! read more

Dr. Randell has been my doctor since he performed a robotic myomectomy on me in November of 2012. Back then I wasn't sure if I would ever have children but knew that if I did I would want to have them naturally. After ending up in the emergency room for severe abdominal pain just a couple of months before my wedding and being told that I had numerous fibroids and would have to have a myomectomy which entailed not only being cut open from hip to hip but also never being able to deliver a child vaginally I was devastated. That's when I started searching the internet for other options and came across this amazing doctor. Not only did he successfully remove all of my fibroids by performing a minimally invasive robotic myomectomy but knowing that I might want to have children one day he made sure not to enter the uterine wall thus giving me a fighting chance for the future. Fast forward 5 years to 2017 when my husband and I decided the time was right for us to start a family. Even though Dr. Randell no longer practiced obstetrics (which was hard for me to accept) and wasn't covered by my insurance I still went to see him for my pre pregnancy screening and then when I got pregnant in December of 2017 I stayed with him all the way through my first trimester until he couldn't see me anymore and I had to find another doctor. Finding another doctor was terrifying especially having had a myomectomy. Unfortunately in today's obstetric culture c-sections are a dime a dozen and most doctors don't want to bother with the time or risk of vaginal deliveries. I knew I would have an incredibly hard time finding someone who would give me the chance to deliver vaginally. I finally found a doctor who I thought might give me that chance, but after a consult and file review he said he would not be willing to deliver me vaginally. I told him I didn't understand why and explained to him that the doctor who did my procedure delivered many patients vaginally after this surgery. I guess he must have had a moment of remorse for my situation as his nurse called me a few days later and told me that if Dr. Randell would be willing to write a letter stating that if he were still practicing obstetrics he would not have a problem delivering me vaginally, then he would allow me to at least try. Well not only did Dr. Randell write a detailed letter but he also took the time to speak with my new ob for over an hour in an attempt to convince the doctor to let me deliver vaginally. Once he was done with my new OB all that the new doctor could say to me was "after talking to Dr. Randell for over an hour he wore me out and I will let you try to deliver vaginally, however, you're on a short leash." Well in August of 2018 I naturally delivered a beautiful healthy baby boy!!!!! None of this would have been possible without Dr. Randell! He is worth his weight in gold!!!!! If it wasn't for him not only would I have never been able to get pregnant with the fibroids that I had but I would not have been able to have the delivery that I had hoped for all my life. I can honestly say that there are not many doctors left out there who not only truly care about their patients but are willing to standup and fight for them. read more

Horrible experience!!!This man writes his own reviews looked at the other reviews on this site and by my experience I truly believe ALL of the positive reviews he wrote himself. EVERY SINGLE NEGATIVE REVIEW I SAW ON LINE I EXPERIENCED IN MY FIRST AND LAST OFFICE VISIT!! sat naked on the table for an hour even though I was an hour early,exam 1.5 min no bedside manor, rude, disrespectful could get specific but don't have enough space.I cried when I left the office he was horrible!!!! Nurse is a joke he and the nurse where very giggly and flirty and secretive very weird and unprofessional, you could tell something was going on. He is the only one in the office which me and there are no standards for care.If he is so great why is his waiting room so empty? Why is it so easy to book this "great" doctor? Because he creates his own hype, that's why!and when you schedule they ask you for a credit card just in case you cancel they charge $35.(who dose that?? someone who can't keep patients that's who!) I found a great obgyn She is great!! I would put her name but I don't want to cause a conflict.. but she's in atlanta you can go to yelp.com and type "obgyn doctors" I did research this practice and their reviews where very accurate! she was truly the best! This practice has terrible service! The receptionist is not a nice woman and my experience was horrible, without even getting to see the doctor. I made my appointment three weeks in advance for my annual. I made it very clear I was coming in for that reason to the receptionist. I should have known I wouldn't like this office because they asked for my credit card number over the phone. I asked why it was needed and the response was for cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, your card is charged $35. No details, instructions specifications were provided in regards to the appointment. I come to the day of my appointment and there is only deck parking available..... I'm okay with that, however, it would have been nice to know the decks only take cash as a form of payment! I walk into the office to a closed receptionist window that took 15 minutes to open and address the patients in the waiting area. Once addressed by the receptionist, I was given paper work to complete and asked for my credit card. I asked why was the card needed if I gave the number over the phone at the time of booking the appointment and the receptionist stated the needed to verify the card in person.. Ok whatever at this point..... I complete my forms, hand them back. The receptionist calls me back up to the window and tells me my visit will be $175. What?!!!!! I ask why and state my understanding is all annual visits are preventative and are supposed to be free... And I have insurance.... She stated first time visitors in the office are not considered as annual appointments... So I kindly tell her that is ridiculous and I'm choosing to decline paying and to see the doctor. I asked why this wasn't stated over the phone at the time of booking my appointment and she stated the insurance company says I have to pay this money and they don't know until they verify insurance upon arrival.... Ok lady, which is it?! This is office practice to charge for first time visitors or its my insurance company?! She proceeds to tell me I'm considered as canceling my visit less that 24 hours in advance and charges my card $35... I receive a call from this receptionist 10 minutes after leaving saying she contacted my insurance company and she was mistaken, my visit would be no charge of all I wanted was a Pap smear... What?! So this office has no set exam protocol for annual exams? Just a pap and that's all?! Absolutely horrible!!! I hope no one else visits this doctors office. DO NOT go here unless you are okay paying for your visit out of pocket then filing your own insurance claim. They do not contract with BCBS (which they claim service 60% of their patients), and did not inform me of this until I had waited almost an hour in the waiting room and wanted to charge me $385 for the visit I was about to have. The front desk assistant kept trying to push me to still have to visit and spoke to me as if I was a child trying to explain why they are contracted and why they did not tell me this when I set up the appointment 3 weeks earlier and informed them that BCBS was my insurance (their reason for this was that I "should have done my homework on the office" to know that they aren't contracted). The front desk assistant continually used the words "might", "probably", and "most likely" when referring to how the insurance would reimburse my visit (ie: "You pay the $385 now and BCBS will most likely reimburse you"). I work in the insurance/health care payment accuracy business and can only think of a few reasons why they would refuse to contract with major insurance carriers... 1) they do not want or don't have the money/man power to keep up with common coding initiatives, 2) they do not want the responsibility of filing claims for patients, 3) they want to charge you up front for possibly unnecessary procedures that they know insurance will not cover. I'm leaning towards reason 3 seeing that other offices don't seem to have a problem with the first two. Never made it into the actual office, however the front waiting room was not as expected, it was small, cold, and uninviting. I was not greeted or given any instructions upon arrival (there is no sign in sheet). I had to ask patients in the waiting area what to do, which is knock on the opaque glass window until someone decides to open it and ask what you need. Very disappointed with the experience. read more
