I had an absolutely TERRIBLE experience at Dr. Newton's joke of an office. I scheduled an appointment months in advance AND confirmed that my insurance was accepted. One business day before my appointment, I called the office to confirm, but they told me that they needed to move my appointment because Dr. Newton decided to take time off. Had to hit those 18 holes! If I hadn't called, I would not have known this until the morning of my appointment... We rescheduled for 2 or 3 weeks in the future. Great! Not a big deal. I'll finally be able to see the doctor and have my issues assessed.
WRONG! I drove 45 minutes to Dr. Newton's office (since he allegedly specializes in the area I was/am having issues) only to be told, after handing my insurance card to the receptionist, that my insurance is NO LONGER ACCEPTED AS OF A FEW WEEKS AGO. When I asked why I wasn't contacted before I wasted my time and money, I was told, "Well we only receive this info a week in advance... and my biller only has a few days' notice... and my biller should have been looking at this and let me know... and I'm working with my biller... my biller... my biller.. I didn't have enough time..." Excuse after excuse. The information was known and no one bothered to do their job - that's the correct answer.
If I paid cash, then a consultation would have been $228. This would not have covered any of the testing that would need to be performed, which could be additional hundreds or thousands of dollars. All of this is fine, except for the part where THE OFFICE KNEW THIS AHEAD OF TIME AND DIDN'T LET ME KNOW.
1.5 hours round trip is what it took me to get to Dr. Newton's office and then back home. This is work time lost, personal time lost, family time lost, money spent on gas lost - that's a lot of loss!
Dr. Newton and his staff run an absolute clown show. I would rather slam my hand in a car door ten times than experience what I did today. read more
