So. Here's the deal. I was a very fit and physically able lady, and about 2 years ago I was in a bike accident and had a fractured tibia. That set me back a lot, I sought physical therapy out late in the game, and by that time my body had made many strange compensations, and not only was I unable to resume regular physical activity, but simple activities like walking and reaching and jobs like mopping and sweeping caused me ridiculous amounts of pain. I'd been everywhere, and tried just about anything. Because when you're in pain and desperate that happens. I've seen great chiropractors who tried their best but couldn't seem to help me other than a few good adjustments, I've seen other chiropractors who have taken advantage of my desperation to heal and wanted me to come in 3 times a week while only feeling minor progress from each session.
Mike is different.
The best practitioners I've seen aren't just good at their job, they are passionate about it. Mike is one of those people. Actually I've only made this yelp account to review 3 people have helped me greatly in my recovery process. Mike is one of them, I've just gotten out of an appointment with him, so I figure it's time to finally do this write-up I've been meaning to do.
For you, the reader out there, who, (like I was), is desperately searching the five star reviews for practitioners in Boston, who might possibly be able to aid them and fix all those indescribable parts of you that just feel "off" or "wrong": GO SEE MIKE. He takes a lot of insurance, and a small co-pay is worth it, so really just pick up your phone and do it already.
Mike is very analytical, and I can tell you, or he can tell you, I was NOT an easy case. He listened to my strange muscular complaints (many other practitioners barely listened and were overeager to recommend something I'd already tried or send me off to another doctor to deal with) evaluated me, watched my gait as I ran, had his colleague watch my gait as I ran for extra input, and openly admitted that I was a challenge but in a way that said "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED." Which was so freaking relieving. I'm a very analytical person too, with great interest in human anatomy so I'm constantly asking Mike as he works ARTistic magic what muscle or muscle group he's targeting, what motions it controls, where is attaches, etc. etc. And somehow he never rolls his eyes at these questions, which are probably asked every three minutes or so, and even become eager enough to explain that he'll crack open one of the anatomy books he has in his office and show me (visual learner...holla!)
I believe I started seeing him mid-July, I was having trouble walking and biking then, forget running. And by August I was experiencing noticeable changes, movements becoming easier, great range of motion in my limbs, and much less tension, and when I first saw him I was pretty much a ball of contracted muscles. And by September, I WAS RUNNING. That might not sound like a big deal, but I hadn't had a real successful run for over a year. Anyone who enjoys running, and enjoys running mid-distance 5-7miles, knows that that is the definition of hell and misery. So having that back felt AMAZING.
I experience a few setbacks still, (it is now October) like my ankle locking up or problems with my hip capsule. And I see Mike and changes are immediately noticeable from the moment I swing my legs off his table and my feet hit the floor. Which is so much more than I can say for most places and I've really been to a lot of other places.
Mike is great at what he does, and doesn't want to see you more than he has to. I remember I was seeing him once a week for awhile and when he told me he now only wanted to see me once every other week, I got a little bummed because I know how good I feel after seeing Mike. When you've been in a lot of physical pain too, appointments go from being a dreaded errand to a beacon of light of hope for healing, so naturally I was like NOOOOO once every other week?! And Mike was right. I was fine.
Mike understands the body well. He doesn't take advantage of your condition. He wants to heal you. He wants to help. He'll even give you PT exercises to practice outside of the office. He won't stop until he's tried every way to help your case, and he'll only send you to someone else if he knows without a doubt, he's tried everything in his power to help you. And the fact that he would send you on after that, is already testament to his character and honesty and serves as proof that he is in this profession to help people feel better and not make money. And he's only made money because he's so freaking good at what he does that awesome people like myself write killer and super lengthy reviews (seriously, what is this, my tenth paragraph?!).
Long story short, GO SEE MIKE. He's wicked smart, very personable, and concerned and actively interested in improving your health. And if he can tackle my case he can DEFINITELY tackle yours. read more
