My child has seen a lot of different drs and specialist growing up. This was by far the most unprofessional, disorganized and borderline hostile "Dr" he has ever seen. I genuinely questioned if he was a real Dr. he had a disheveled looking man bring him a bag of things that seemed questionable at best. He seemed to have a problem with women and had a major issue if he perceived being questioned. He's dismissive and acts as though he's doing you a favor by seeing you and he was always doing something else the entire time of the appt. We only took my child here because he was the only one at the time who took his insurance. He had food delivered during the apt, took calls, and was going through stacks of boxes and paperwork half the time. read more

I cried after my first a point, not from sadness but from joy! I am 33 years old and have seen 13+ psychologists in my life time . I suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. I recently have been diagnosed with what is believed to be an autoimmune disorder, but which one doctors still do not know. it's been 2 years since I've been living with chronic pain and further symptoms and spent thousands of dollars yet still do not have an answer. I became a shell of myself until i was told to see Dr. McAndrew. He ACTUALLY listened to me during our appointmen! He asked about my past to understand me better. Normally my former psychs would just write a prescription and out the door I go. Dr. McAndrew actually LISTENED to my needs and concerns and is educated, sooo caring, and patient and supportive. He helped me uncover that my previous psychiatrist was using non-FDA-approved products, saving me from a $5k copay. Dr Mcandrews was one of my favorite psychiatrists. I've been through about a dozen in my short lifetime and dr mc Andrew's was by far the best.. He was very skilled in the knowledge of medications where other doctors would blindly prescribe medications not considering the side effects the patient has experienced or the class of drug being similar. Dr mcandrews does a more modern approach to things and was one of the first doctors to notice that my weight gain is being caused by the medications I was taking and wasn't self induced by bad dieting or poor food choices. I'm on the road to weight loss and feel a lot better. The only tip of advice I could give would be for dr to take better notes during sessions since sometimes I would have to repeat things every couple of meetings. read more

If you get through the incessant Google searches, he might be even qualified. I can't address that. I am one who is part of the "me too" crowd as well as suffering from bi-polar and depression. His medications have added a potentially fatal rash (now gone at the expense of $1000's) and agoraphobia. Bonus. Who would have thought treatment could be so expensive? I wanted to first start by saying that Dr. McAndrew is probably 5-stars for a lot of people, he has a very upbeat attitude, he's a good listener and is just a very nice guy in general. Unfortunately for me, I could only give three stars because I just don't believe we were able to effectively work with my own personal mental problems. I feel that his practice is more geared towards children, and that's immediately noticeable in the office with all of the toys and drawings. McAndrew's personality itself is kind of young-at-heart. If I had a kid, I would definitely bring him to see McAndrew's, he just seems like he would get along with kids so well and could really get down on their level to address the issues at hand. Many of the adult issues I brought up just seemed really foreign to him, though I'm sure he's dealt with a handful of people who have had similar issues before, it just didn't seem that way. Maybe I just couldn't convey myself well enough, but most sessions I usually felt like he was attempting to address my issues as though I sort of were a child. Not in a condescending way or anything, I never felt offended in any way, just some of the issues I have I think warranted some more seriousness in discussion, and some of the solutions provided were a bit rudimentary. Anyways, medication management was fine, we went through the gauntlet of anti-depressants and anxiety stuff, side effects were always pretty bad, nothing really worked, not his fault. Staff was great. I would recommend McAndrew's for children highly, and I am sure a number of adults with some mainstream problems could benefit. read more

Dr. McAndrews is a very compassionate man with a soft demeanor that is very welcoming. He is very educated and understands his field more than other Dr's I've encountered. He is genuine and a real person not a phony. I always appreciate that he treats me like I assume he would treat one of his friends. I have ran into a couple of situations where I didn't schedule my appointment in time for medication refill and he worked with me both times. Psychiatry is a science but we are human beings so it's nice to have a professional that is relatable. I appreciate this man and his staff very much. Some of the reviews I'm seeing on here do not match up with the experience I have had and I feel like there's probably more to the story when someone gives him 1 star. read more

Based on the other reviews and his responses, there is not much purpose in leaving specific details here, as they respond with "every patient is different" etc, which while it is true, it is also quite possible that the pattern of patients feeling gaslit, ignored, and having their concerns disregarded is very accurate too. My recommendation, find another Dr, while he may not have done any harm with my treatment, he certainly did not do me any good, and now I am having to start over after trying all his treatment recommendations for 6 months while he ignored my concerns and my prior Drs recommended treatment. read more

Dr McAndrew is my favorite doctor i've ever had, by far! I actually enjoy seeing him, and really like talking to him. He is so caring and supportive. He literally saved my life, and I can't imagine not having him around. One of the other reviews said "he is a very strange man" and I don't disagree, but thats what makes him interesting! Strange does not mean bad, just different. Sort of like all of us who go see him are probably also not completely normal. His office is always very helpful, and there are only friendly faces there. Ive been seeing Dr.McAndrew for 3 years now and I LOVE him and all of his staff! I'm in shock after reading some of these reviews. He is not strange at all! He's a caring wonderful man that literally saved my life! I love when I get to go see him every 2 months. He's so fun to talk to and really cares about what I have to say. His staff are the best guys to. There so sweet and helpful always! His office is not messy. Most of his patients are kids so he has his office kid friendly with lots of toys and books for them to play with. I agree with most of the one star reviews. For me he was nice to talk with, seemed better at counseling than medication management. His staff members can definitely be rude. Especially Jason, the one with an English accent. He has been rude on several different occasions. Dr. McAndrew always seemed nice enough. But when it came to prescriptions though, he didn't know some things I believe he should have, such as side effects. I wouldn't recommend him due to the overall experience with medication management. read more

Best doctor I have had since diagnosed in the early 90's. My health is a top priority of mine. Moving from city to city it is always stressful finding a new specialist. I took my son who is 10 to see Dr. Mc Andrew for the first time today. I have to say I was extremely impressed! I have been to many Psychiatrists from down South to up North and he is by far one of the greatest!! He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to listen and respond back with care and concern. I am completely shocked that he spent OVER an hour talking with my son and I. It's usually 15- 20 minutes with other Dr's. He had my son read to him, talked about sports he plays, his favorite teams, Minecraft, etc. I loved seeing kids artwork everywhere, it shows that he cares for his patients. Very personable, encouraging, and Zen-like. Been going there for a few years for a prescription and haven't had any issues. Also I accidentally tried to refill a prescription that had already been maxed-out so the pharmacy called him to get it refilled, which he did which was nice of him. My son was a long time patient,the doctor's office does not keep accurate records for billing and will suddenly 2 years later come up with bogus charges you were never billed for,then surprise you and ask you to prove if you did pay. It is simply a scam I believe when business is low to help bring in more income to their office. I was very disappointed in this business and rather than actually discussing important issue if you have a son would you like to pay $400 for your son to talk to him about Football? I have seen a handful of psychiatrists, and Michael tops all of them. A psychiatrists job is to prescribe you medication only, but Michael also talked to me about my problems and didn't mind listening (never have I had a psychiatrist do this, they usually only ask me how my medication is working then send me on my way). It was very easy to get an appointment here (even with short notice). Even though I saw him less than a handful of times, I definitely would recommend seeing him!! read more

Undeniable the worst experiences I have ever had. The pros: office is friendly, they work to get you in quickly. The cons: the most unprofessional opinionated psychiatrist I have ever encountered. He did not care about anything I had to say, literally....I have no idea why he chose this as his profession because he has no interest in helping people whatsoever. Went to an appointment for my son and almost walked out after a few minutes. He is a really strange man. He just kept repeating my son's school name over and over again. We came to the appointment because of my son's depression and anxiety. At the end of the meeting he told me that my son said he was fine so there is nothing wrong with him. It was a few years back that I took my son to Dr. McAndrews. Nice enough, but when my son had to be emergency hospitalized, I left 3 messages and never got a return call. I finally got a hold of him and told him why we found another psychiatrist. Also, his office was littered with paperwork and files left out. Please be warned about him! He is more concerned about what the community thinks and feels, rather that what is appropriate for the individual. He makes a big deal out of things that he thinks the "community" feels are important, even when it has proven to not be an issue in your current situation. When you try to confront him, he acts like a child. I felt like I was dealing with child today dealing with him. Even scheduling appointments is ridiculous. You have to call a call center to schedule an appointment. However, the call center and his office don't always talk. So in the last year, there have been at least 2 - 3 appointments that I had to be re-scheduled, due to their inability to talk, and the confusion that comes because of it. I finally got sick of his appointments causing me anxiety, when I am there to get help with anxiety, so I walked out. It has been less than a year, and I have hated pretty much every meeting. I am a very kind and patient person who gives people the benefit of the doubt, and who believes in being respectful. But he takes the cake. After waiting three months to see another Dr. and them forgetting to put me on their schedule, I was fed up! I found Dr. McAndrews through a referral and he was able to see me within a month, so I made the appointment. I had already had vacation plans before my appointment which I told the office when I made the appointment. I had no cell service while I was gone. When I got the the airport to return home (48 hours before my appointment), I had a voicemail saying I needed to call to confirm my appt. I did right then, as soon as I got the message. I was then told they filled my spot with someone else because I didn't call them back! The voicemail NEVER said if I didn't call them back they would fill my spot and no one ever said (when making the appt) I would lose my spot if I didn't confirm my appt. But I did confirm as soon as I got back into the Country 48 hours before my appt. If I would have been told this would happen if I didn't call back sooner, I would have gone out of my way to call them back sooner. Now it's been more than 5 months with NO HELP because I keep getting screwed over by Dr offices that don't really care about people. The guy I talked to with an accent was rude and not willing to be helpful at all. Just kept saying he's been calling for a week. I've BEEN GONE! Not everyone is available at all times when you need them to be! I was looking forward to coming home and finally getting some help I need really really bad! And now once again, I am getting screwed over. Basically, you snooze, you lose attitude from the front office guy! BEWARE of this office as they do NOT warn you you'll be kicked off the schedule if you don't call back in "THEIR" timely manner!!!! read more

Dr McAndrews is a nice guy. Listens well. Office is a little messy for me. I just want to organize it! My problem with this office is inconsistent practice and rude staff. I had 2 RX I was trying to get renewed for home delivery and required Dr's approval. Well one of the RX's went through without a problem, this was the rx I had only been on for 3 months, required no office visit for renewal but my rx that I have been on for over 6 years without problem he all of a sudden needed to see me? So I called the office and spoke with Anthony, who was very rude, told them that the rx I need approved was one that I've been taking for years and why would they approve the rx I was just put on. It makes no sense to me that they approve one but not the other. I feel like there was no care or compassion all they wanted was my COPAY!!!!! Asked to have the Dr call me I have heard nothing, Was able to get my refill from my regular Dr because I was going to run out and I shouldn't be off that med. Will never go back here! read more
