I'm happy to share that I have found that very dentist. I take good care of my teeth and typically go in for routine cleanings every six months and rarely have cavities. But when I do have the occasional problems that pop up every 3 or 4 years, they are significant and costly. Normally I get ahead of things before they become an issue but with my big move and a pretty intense past 10 months or so, I had gone an entire year without a cleaning or exam. And then an old crown popped off when I was flossing, reminding me that I better get my ass to the dentist. I searched for a dentist on Yelp and was finding that barely any are reviewed around these parts! And then I found Mel Mel Dental with what appeared to be a very sincere 5 star review, so I took a chance. In all my years of going to dentists, I find my experience here to be the best of all. I rarely if ever, have to wait. There's a family-like atmosphere amongst the staff that makes one feel immediately comfortable. If you look at their website, they give a bio on everyone from reception to hygienists to Dr. Suditu himself. So cool! I actually look forward to seeing the staff and Theresa, the dental assistant, is particularly great to talk to. She makes you feel immediately comfortable as if you're about to share a bottle of wine rather than get dental work done. Finally, a note on painless dentistry. Dr. Suditu is particularly careful to explain exactly what is going on from anesthesia (he expertly administers the shot so that you barely feel it) to the procedure itself. Similarly, he explains your options and takes insurance coverage into consideration. These are all the things that can cause stress in a patient. Now, if only I can find a doctor that I like even half as much...

I was overcharged, and my insurance was submitted claims for procedures that were never performed, which raises serious ethical and billing concerns. After a crown was placed in March 2025, my regular dentist later found excess cement left directly on my gum line--a basic and preventable error. My dentist was extremely disturbed by this and stated it could have caused damage to my gums. Leaving cement behind reflects a clear lack of attention to standard dental care and patient safety. To make matters worse, the crown fell off while I was eating (and unfortunately swallowed) yet I was told I would need to pay out of pocket for a completely new crown, despite the original being placed only months earlier. Refusing to stand behind recent work while shifting the financial burden onto the patient is unprofessional and unacceptable. Between the billing irregularities, substandard workmanship, and lack of accountability, I strongly advise others to avoid this office altogether. If you do choose to go here, verify every charge, closely monitor what is submitted to your insurance, and be prepared to seek corrective care elsewhere.

It all STARTED OUT GREAT: Lisa and Sussn( ?) answred the phone in a polite, professional way.I WAS OPTIMISTIC. NOTE: Despite their limited office hours, they seemed friendly and warm, and they excepted my Blue Cross Blue Shield dental insurance. So I scheduled the first appointment for my exam and consultation. THE GOOD: Dr Meshnick seemed to be listening to my concerns throughout the consultation. I knew I had some deferred care that needed attention, particularly with some previous emergency work that had been done several years prior. THE WORK: Post and crown work to fix the previous emergency work. This was done PRE-COVID-19. OVERSIGHT: despite the fact that I had expressed concern about a chipped tooth on the other side of my mouth, the Doctor dismissed it as fine. COSMETIC: The last item I discussed with the doctor during the initial consultation was a long-term strategy to improve the alignment of my teeth. I scheduled the post and crown work and had it completed. My insurance covered paid about half and I was sent a bill for the remaining balance. THE BAD: shortly after having the post and crown work completed, the suspicious tooth that I had pointed out to the doctor broke off. I reported this to the doctors office via voicemail message. THE UGLY: fortunately, the affected, broken tooth, is in the back of my mouth and is generally unnoticeable. REMEMBER , During my initial consultation I had called attention to a potential degradation of the very tooth that later broke. I was told by Dr. Meshnick that the tooth was fine. Just weeks after the post and crown, the tooth broke. The gaping hole that was left requires additional caution and care to prevent infection. STUCK WITH THE SITUATION: My travel schedule picked up again and I did have to reschedule hygienist appointments each time reminding them of the gaping hole and making it clear that I was disappointed by the oversight and the failure to notice the issue. THATS THE DENTIST's JOB, right? COVID HIT AND I became ILL. I spent months in self-quarantine. The very last thing on my mind was calling the doctor again about a broken tooth when I was so ill. THE MONEY FACTOR: although During the COVID PANDEMIC I received bills to pay off the balance of about $240 dollars, not once did anyone at the dents's office express concern or empathy for my dental situation which I believe was due to lack of thorough care of the consultation stage. INSTEAD, when I spoke with Lisa today to provide credit card information for my final bill, she denied receiving any information from me about the broken tooth and my disappointment in the care I received. Instead, the previously-polite Lisa became defensive and curt. Not in any way apologetic, in fact she was borderline sarcastic, making feeble excuses for the deficiencies in care and tried to make it seem like my fault that the issue was not picked up sooner because I rescheduled my hygienist appointments well-after the work was done and the second tooth broke. THE FINAL DECISION: she claimed that I never reported the damage to their office. Malarkey. As expected, she defended the doctor. Of course she should do that. She's employed by him and it is not a comfortable discussion to have. I get that. But turning the table and blaming the patient for the business' mistake is not acceptable. The fact is that I could have received the proper care before Covid if the doctor had paid closer attention to my complaint and investigated it further. THE RESULTS: In my opinion, I did not have to walk around for months with a broken tooth during a pandemic. WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Dr. Meschnick seemed to be a very nice person and I'm sure he was a very proficient dentist during most of his career. At this stage, I feel like he msy be in semi retirement mindset. THE SIGNS I MISSED: Limited hours and a lack of thoroughness. I will not be returning to this dentist.

As a child my mom would take us kids to a dentist who must have had a secret love for causing pain. He would drill my cavities without the use of Novocaine. Needless to say, going to the dentist must have been a hidden fear of mine considering that I have been to the dentist 5 times in 25 years. Thanks to Aspen Dental I have now visited the dentist 12 times in 2 1/2 years. The free exam and x-rays were a nice surprise but, not compared to the pleasant and cheerful staff. However, as time went on things went downhill. Dr. Smith became harder and harder to schedule with and Dr. Georgescu became my regular dentist. At first I was fine with this as Dr. Georgescu seemed ok. But as time went on I became dissatisfied with the service. Charges were higher than other dentists in the area. Dr. Georgescu frequently and openly chastises at least one of the staff members making for an uncomfortable environment. The office is outdated and cramped. During one visit the hygienist had a hard time maneuvering around the chair (and me) because of the small and cramped room we were in. A couple of times I requested Nitrous and even though I was charged $50 (which I consider excessive) I felt no different even though I was told it was 'turned up as high as it would go'. While I cannot prove it, I really do not believe I was being given what I was paying for based on what I've seen of others that have been administered Nitrous in other offices. I would really like to give 5 stars and would have if I had written this several years back but I've been uneasy about Wappingers Dental for a while now and other recent events have tilted the scales toward finding another provider.
